  1. Thanks for clearing that up. Every day is a schoolday!
  2. I thought I read somewhere that the reason that the ground has a 10k capacity is because it is in the Grangemouth blast zone and therefore that was the maximum allowed. I take it I have been totally duped by a load of old rubbish then?
  3. I was sure that Skyline mentioned a couple of years back that you could move from Main Stand to terracing but not vice-versa. I may have been completely wrong in that assumption though. Is Brian Graham getting game time for St Johnstone? He may be a short term option to cover for Reilly?
  4. To me, it shows the stupidity of Kerr's qoute. How is the Assistant Manager of any club not involved in first team affairs. He may not have liked or agreed what Jim said or did but to say he was wrong for claiming that Jim had no right to say or do it. I assume that if he disagrees with Falkirk's assistant manager's comments or approach he will do the same thing? BTW I am not defending Jim here. I dont know what he said or how he gets involved in training, merely saying that Kerr is wrong in the assumption that Fowlrr's assistant shouldn't have a say on first team matters.
  5. I think we all know your position re big Jim now. Are you getting paid for every time you mention this?
  6. Was he not meaning the dev squad players under dev contracts rather than players on first team contracts? Is Hooper on a dev contract? I thought he played well at Alloa. Surely if you aee 'full tine' as mentioned the law would require a minimum wage/ apprentice rate. I know they will probably still be living at home but I can't see how anybody would work for £10 a week.
  7. I'm queuing on Saturday. Looking forward to it - there was a great atmosphere at the cup match last year and hopefully will be good again on Saturday. Xmas night out on Friday so need to be careful. ..
  8. Obvious places include Kings Park, Cottesloe and Rottnest Island. Northbridge is quite a good area for food and bars. Also head to Freo for the day for Maritime museum, jail, markets and marina area.
  9. If you are in Perth for a few days then get over to Rottnest Island. Great beaches and you can hire a bike and cycle round in a day. On the East Coast I spent a night in Newcastle ( got mates there). Quite nice by the beach. If you are planning to head further north than Brisbane then Noosa, Fraser Island and Airlie Beach are good breaks. Its a long way though - I did the Greyhound bus that somebody else mentioned and some legs were 12 hrs+.
  10. Saw them in New York a couple of weeks ago. Played about 15 songs I think. Great live and had the place jumping. I have never felt that they dont do enough songs at their gigs. However I do agree that they often have a few filler songs on their albums. Mind you I think most bands do nowadays.
  11. To be fair to ftb big rubber fist said this. I think the point about what teams will charge visiting Queens fans is a good one. IF Hibs, Hearts and Rangers go with £20 then I think we're entitled to charge higher for those games. However I disagree with charging more just because those games may bring in more fans, even if economic theory suggests we should.
  12. Saw editors at the picture house in Edinburgh on the bank holiday Saturday. Great gig. Surprised they squeezed Edinburgh in between Leeds and Reading. Got Barrowlands tickets as well.
  13. The away shorts look uncomfortable. Not sure denim will work in the rain. As mentioned the away strip looks like it's had a scania run over it. Great news re the draw numbers
  14. Looks like a nice day in Blackpool. Jack all snow here in Bristol. A light dusting, but that was all last night - it melted during the day. How much are we taliking about up your way - Dunfermline, Dundee, Falkirk, Perth appear to be worst hit judging by the posts on here. How much have you had - I'm curious because it looks like London has had about 4 or 5 inches and they're banging on like its the apocalypse. Kent has had about 7 inches so a bit more. I have heard reports of a metre in Scotland - what is it round your way?
  15. Not jealous at all that you're heading into summer.... Adam - how was the pie and veg? Turn out OK - I'm nervous that something happened and you may be coming to kill me.
  16. Stephen Levitt did work on names for his book 'Freakonomics' - this may have been mentioned elsewhere in this thread so apologies. Her noted the common names for thick parents kids and those for more intelligent parents. Although he also noted the tale of a dad who called his first son 'loser' and his second 'winner' and their lives turnmed out opposite to what their names would have suggested. I think the two thickest names on his list were Ricky and Bobby. Now I know where Taledaga Nights got its name from...
  17. I thought that was how they were meant to work. Can't see why not - unless you can't get to the tatties. Can't believe that potato steam will destroy the carrotyness. I am having low fat Macaroni Cheese tonight. I have really got a Macaroni cheese habit at the moment.
  18. Just been to the Far East on holiday, so have caught up with a few movies on the plane. Star Trek 7/10 Quite good - you could see that the actors had recognised the Spock and Kirk characters from the original Star Trek and tried to bring their mannerisms etc into the movie. Watchable, although SimonPegg's Scotty was ridiculous. Angels and Demons 7/10 So much better than Da Vinci Code - this had a bit of pace in it. A watchable movie that kept me interested. The Boat That Rocked - 5/10 Cliche ridden, not particularly funny and certainly not good enough based on the cast (Phil Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Nick Frost, Rhys Ifans etc). Disappointing. Transformers 2 - 5/10 Mediocre and relied on special effects. I knew that would be the case though. Redeemed by Megan Fox's (ahem) fine acting skills The Hangover - 8/10 I was expecting a cliche ridden lad fest and to some extent that was what it was, however better than the usual 'fraternity' related cr@p that seems to come out of the US. The beardie bloke in oparticular was hilarious. State of Play - 7/10 Once againa good movie, but not as good as the BBC series it came from. Mirren as usual is the best thing in it, but even Affleck performs reasonably well.
  19. I'm not going to trawl through 30 pages of comment since yesterday so... my understanding is that Livi need 14 votes to survive. Can all decent minded fans please lobby their chairmen to vote Livi into Div 3 please. A couple of days ago I was happy with giving the cheats a 15 point penalty in Div 1, but it has become obvious that toys have now been thrown out of prams big style. These guys couldn't lodge a bond (a bond they had committed to lodge one week earlier) to confirm Div1 fixtures could be fulfulled. Now whinging 'we're a 1st div side so can't play 3rd div football' is shite. The SFL have determined you are a 3rd div side. Until your appeal is heard that's what you are. It's like a court finding you guilty until the appeal happens. You take the punishment until the appeal is heard. It's not a case of 'I've been found guilty and therefore can walk about free as I have appealed' - the appeal is against the original decision (ie it stands until it is overturned) I am pig sick of the whining from Livi - did you cheat - yes. were you caught and punished -yes. Did you like it - no - boo hoo. Maybe you didn't want to play East Stirling as another gubbing by a Div 3 team would have shown you weren't a Div 1 team??? Waffen Thin Mint - a name that makes a joke from a SS division. Are you an apologist for these guys? What's your agenda?
  20. That made me laugh very much. Keep up the good work.
  21. First chance I've had to comment on this since the news broke. 1. I didn't expect the outcome. I predicted earlier in the day I predicted that a supine SFL would roll over. I suspect the blackmail tactics of McDoog and Rankine backfired spectacularly as well as a complete lack of contrition shown by Livi. 2. I would have preferred a 15-20 point deduction, combined with transfer restrictions and evidence of a business plan that matched income to cost. Virtually dooming Livi, but keeping fixture sanity and not promoting Airdrie etc into a division they had not prepared for. 3. Saying that, the attitude of a number of Livi fans, both as a reaction to the decision last week and the whinging at Albion's ground when getting pumped out of the cup hardened my views against Livi considerably. A 'big club' mentality existed which was not justified given the black and white facts. 4. This coupled with the 'white knight' approach and the unwillingness of Livi to work at delivering sustainable football had alienated me against the club significantly. 5. The decision made has caused a great deal of upheaval 3 days before the start of the season and has not cast anybody in a good light. 6. I feel sorry for those Livi fans who have supported their club and have seen relegation and possible extinction. However this is not some conspiracy by the other clubs, not some unjustified punishment, not some 'self preservation society'. It is the reaction of a body that obviously could not see Livi guaranteeing its fixtures next season, which was being blackmailed over a previously agreed bond that Livi had to lodge to demonstrate its ability to fulfil its fixtures and which had to take action as a result. If Livi had gone under halfway through the season then the SFL would have looked more stupid. 7. Therefore Livi have nobody to blame but themselves for the situation they find themselves in. 8.. Livi fans need to go away and work with the council, local businesses, the white knights (if they haven't legged it) and other key community bodies to build a sustainabkle future for the club, one where it lives within its means. If done the right way, this may allow Livi to appear in the 1st within a few years on available basis.
  22. Livi are playing a game that will lead to all fair minded people hating them for eternity. Unfair advantage for 14 years - costs exceeding income and as such 'cheating' their way to glory and Div 1 football as well. Get found out and admin beckons. Interim Manager connives with local cooncil and two sugar daddies to bail out club. Sugar daddies go to SFL and state 'we're only taking over if you can guarantee us 1st Div football' rather than going there begging for Livi's survival. SFL face backlash from everybody else sick at them bending over backwards to suck the Sugar daddies hairy ones Sugar daddies realise their bluff is being called and claim theat they are being hard done to. Bond portrayed as a punsihment rather than a guarantee that Livi can actually fulfill their fixtures. Angling for no points deduction as bond sufficient. SFL bend over backwards and suck again. Easy to bend over backwards when you have no spine... Livi laugh their way to Div 1 football and so it begins again. I wont be going to Livi again. They've sucked any sympathy I have for them clean out of me. Have Livi given any business plan based on the income they expect to receive to the SFL by the way? Does this show costs being cut to match income?
  23. I think the SFL have been seduced by the image that Livi are a 'big club' and as such would rather have them than a 'small club' like Spartans/ Annan etc. The problem is that Livi are not a big club. They may have a nice stadium, but they don't own it and can't afford it They may have a goodish squad, but they have shown they can't pay them They have a cost base that they are not prepared to pay for They have a smallish fan base that is no bigger than others They have a history which was bought (I don't mean the Meadowbank years, I mean the SPL/ League Cup that was 'paid for' by the first administration) If Longmuir has stated that they will be kept in the 1st because that is what their business plan is predicated on, then he truly is a fool of the highest order. The market will decide where Livi should be - the market has decided that 1st Div football is unsustainable for Livi (as evidenced by the huge debts), so the answer is pimp out the club to the next sugar daddy to bankroll the club, claiming 'it will be different this time'. If I was a chairman of another club, I'd want to know what plans Livi have to cut their cost base to match their income base (I mean their current income base, not some pie in the sky plan from the latest 'messiahs' to walk into dodge). Because without evidence of this cost cutting I would claim that Livi would still have an unfair advantage over those clubs trying to live within their means - one that a 10 point deduction would not be able to address. Also Livi would be back next year for the next semester of 'football unsustainability 101'.
