  1. They booed Mikey Teasdale once when he got the cursed no 2 jersey, I think Rossco was even playing at centre half that day Probably the same guys that were roaring ‘passback!’ When Granty kneed it back to Mark Brown in goals.
  2. Saw Caley play there back in the old days. Went looking for it last year on the way to Mallaig. Took ages to find it.
  3. This a hundred times over. So Isa, get them guys at Talbot to blow the dust off the annual accounts
  4. Much as it pains me to agree with an arse cheek acolyte, Danny McGrain was clearly one of the best full backs of all time on the left or right side. KT is not fit to oil his beard imo. It’s a sign of how far Scottish football has fallen that people under a certain age are incapable of believing we produced world class players as recently as the 1970s.
  5. 1974. Scotland 2 England 0, Bremner and Johnstone as Jinky salutes the press box after the famous rowing boat incident
  6. The Centenary Scottish Cup Final of 1973 aka the Tam Forsyth final. Ally Hunter sees a shot safely wide, watched by Conn, Young, Parlane and McGrain. The attendance was 122714, the last ever 6 figure crowd for a club match in Scotland IIRC. Derek Johnstone's header hits the near post and flies across to hit the far post. Forsyth runs in to tap the ball in from about a foot.
  7. It's reminiscent of Dingwall, but in fact it's Giurgiu as ICT fans arrive for their Europa League qualifier against Astra. How far can a club fall in 2 years.
  8. Some decent stuff mind you, even if it's just his Da's memoirs following ra Sellic Here's another: September 1969. Ally McLeod's newly promoted Ayr 2 Rangers 1. Somerset's record gate of, wait for it, 25225. Davie Stewart tips over, watched by Dougie Mitchell, Andy Penman and Colin Stein. Notice the scoreboard. Also you can't see the boundary wall because of all the wee laddies sitting on the track. As Flybhoy will rightly tell you, Fergie wasn't playing for Rangers that day, never played again after the 1969 Cup Final, and was transferred to Falkirk in November for £20000.
  9. Not to mention the same thing on the LL board and the EOSL board.
  10. Met Peter when Whitehill played there in the Scottish, a real gent.
  11. I was at the semi where Celtic beat Rangers 3-1 with a Harry Hood hat trick against one from Alex MacDonald. Played on December 5, a Wednesday, it was just as grim a day as the final. I think the lights were on half power or something, or run by generators. Crowd was 54000.
  12. Man in library: "Have you got any books on suicide?" Librarian: "f**k off, you won't bring it back."
  13. From what I know about Clydebank I don’t think the cost of travel would put them off at all. As for the other clubs, I hae ma doots Also, I’ve said this hundreds of times, the SPFL negotiates with the LL and HL. At present there is 1/2 of a promotion place available because the SPFL has a much stronger bargaining position than the two feeders. You need Cowden, Clyde, Berwick etc to come down before you get your wish. So Clydebank could easily be rejected by both leagues. I just feel EK was on the right side of Glasgow whereas Clydebank isn’t. You may well be right, although I’m old enough to remember Ferranti Thistle being voted in ahead of Inverness Thistle, such is the way small clubs vote. And they don’t actually have to choose anybody at all, although Dalkeith must be a certainty. We’ll see anyway.
  14. I think somebody on the Junior threads did the sums and Clydebank would have less mileage in the EOS than the SOS.
  15. Yeah I get that, although EK are just EOSFA members, and Dalbeattie found the travelling too much in the EOS. I just mean if you were the secretary of Coldstream or Ormiston or Preston or Peebles, would you vote to travel to Clydebank for a fixture? No doubt Bankies would enhance the league, but self interest has dominated football since the year dot.
  16. Even if Clydebank did apply, does anybody seriously think the EOS member clubs would vote them in?
  17. My first was 1970 in the Scottish Cup when they got a bit of the jungle, I remember it well as I was shit scared when the bottles started flying. Only a bare 10 yards of terracing between them with a row of polis. But I’ve had no interest in Rangers FC for nearly 30 years. ICT are my big team now and I’ve seen them beat Rangers more times than I care to remember. I just thought it was one of those myths as Rangers crowds were poor back then, about 15000 but I think they still turned out for OF games. eta - maybe league matches were different but it was a long time ago...
  18. I’m sure this idea of restricting tickets for away fans is a pretty new thing dating to when season tickets took off, and nothing to do with who could sell what. In my day Celtic fans always got the West enclosure and Rangers fans got a bit of the jungle. The crowds were definitely more of an even split.
  19. This man was responsible for Benni McCarthy turning out in a Whitehill strip so his barnet's fine by me. Plus he's kicked a few Spartans players into orbit over the years.
  20. He's not that old though, is he? I remember seeing him interviewed somewhere and he was younger than I had imagined.
  21. Every now and then the juniors get advance fixtures posted Mantis! I was stunned to find 2 months worth Wow, I just discovered the wee calendar thingy on the SJFA site. That certainly helps
