  1. Well they may not be in the first division this time next year, but I am more convinced after todays events that they will exist.

Exist maybe but for how long. This will come back to haunt the SFL. This in no way confirms anything like a long term future for Livi. If they survive I suspect we'll be back in this situation before too long. Hopefully the clubs vote in the right way and tell them to get tae.

  2. All well and good saying it. What is to be done about it? The Livvy fans have had plenty of slagging for not being particularly 'active'. What options are available to the supporters to protest this decision (if, indeed, it has come to pass - haven't switched the radio or TV on)

The first thing that springs to mind is a boycott of all Livi home games by away supporters. Won't change the SFL but will make a point at least.

  3. It's a seeded competition. Albion Rovers cannot possibly draw Alloa in the next round.

Really? So, unlikely as it is, if we were to beat Airdrie we would definitely be looking at a gubbing from a bigger team in the next round. What a waste of time.

Ok so my example was wrong but you get the principal of the idea. I think they would still make more from an away game that a home one. Who's to say they wouldn't have beaten Livi anyway. If anyone else gets compensation due to Livi's death then so should the Rovers. Not that anyone will.

  4. It's been a joke for some weeks.

I guess the only discussion for the SFL now is whether or not they leave us with a 9 team First Division, or promote Airdrie and Cowdenbeath.

In this event, surely these two would be entitled to some financial assistance, given that they've got squads prepared for their respective league campaigns. It's hardly fair to promote Airdrie and sentence them to possibly being humped every week (apart from four 1-0 wins v Dundee <_< ) in front of potentially dwindling crowds. As has been said before, a side in title contention, winning games and scoring goals in the second is more likely to have a larger support than a team being annihilated week-in, week-out in the first.

Yep, Livi's demise screws up both these clubs. I can't see the SFL going with a 9 team 1st division so forced promotion for these 2 looks the only way.

Will Albion Rovers receive any compensation fo their game being off at the weekend?

The whole thing is a fucking mess.

  5. Clearly MrGruther isn't going to entertain him now. Which kind of removes the possibility of salvation through a late change of heart.

Does this mean that the only remaining option is liquidation, or will McGruther have something else up his sleeve?

It has to be now surely. McGruther was absolute in what I heard yesterday. No sale, no club anymore. Would make a complete joke (if it isnt already) of the situation if they now moved the goalposts. But this is the SFL of course.

    Please let this end now.

  6. Just heard the same interview but i'm none the wiser. Given that the deadline has now passed and Massone is refusing to sell. McGruther has said that staff will be laid off today and following the SFL meeting tomorrow the players would potentially follow.

As with other previous threads its just sounding like he's given Massone a further 24 hours to agree. Although I understand he wants a deal done its prolonging the agony for the Livi fans. They've sat and watched today and then effectively been told it'll now be tomorrow....or is it actually all over now?

I really wish I could just get a straight answer!

From what I picked up from it I thought it sounded definate. But I was driving so it didnt have my full attention.

  7. The Froggy commie tractor is no more!

I've abandoned Citroen after 17 years.

You'll be horrified by what I've replaced it with!

And if John Brown continues as our "Manager", the chances of me visiting the Recs are somewhere between slim and none! <_<

I now need to know this.

    Please not a Lexus.

  8. We've posted on here often enough for you to know I really don't take it seriously,

I just find that, as entertainment, it's all a bit laboured, contrived and predictable. And yes I still watch it, which says a lot about choice on a Sunday evening! ;)

There is hope for you yet. ;)

I look forward to the froggy commie tractor making an appearance at the Recs this coming season. :P

  9. And yes, a serious piece of road testing of cars that Joe Public can afford would be useful. 5th Gear can do it, why not Top Gear?

5th Gear is turgid shit. If you want a car review then go buy What Car? or Autoexpress. Or visit a multitude of car websites. Top Gear is entertainment. End of. It's not meant to be taken seriously.

  10. The thing that always puzzles me is that on the way to Tillicoultry you pass through a place called "Devon Village". The name seems so out of place with everywhere else in Central Scotland

Never mind blinking, you could pass that place with your eyes fully open and not see it. I suppose factually its fair enough. Its a village and the Devon runs past it. But yeah, I suppose the name suggests more than it really is.

Whereas Yetts o' Muckart. What the f**k is that all about?

  11. but I found Alva pretty grim and there's wee places like Coalsnaughton that you see and think thank fck I gre up in Paisley.

Yep, well Alva is one of the hill(billy)foots villages so say no more. There really is no need for Coalsnaughton to exist. Its like the arse end of Clackmannanshire that somebody forgot to wipe.

  12. That's the one.

Fallin is also worth a mention.

I used to get the bus to and from Uni before First kept fucking it up. Plean seems even worse when you're stopping in it every two minutes to pick up or drop off the resident reprobates.

    My Papa's from Cowie

    Oops.

Aye, Fallin's a bit desperate too. Once went to a party at their community pub or whatever it is. :o

Couldnt believe they were building all those new houses in Plean. Just goes to show they will build anywhere (including Tullibody)

  13. Got to agree with the views on Forth. I drive through it fairly regularly. There's something eerie about it. Something not quite right.

Cowdenbeath yes, Port Glasgow - yes. What about Cumbernauld? Up north I'd go for Fraserburgh.

We used to do work for a company down in Newmilns. Quite a few hellholes around there. Strathaven springs to mind.

  14. Enjoyed that tonight- with such a back catalogue there'll always be minor quibbles over the perfect setlist; off the new album I was surprised not to hear Totnes Bickering Fair as it sounded like a real crowd singalong one. I probably preferred the gig in 2006 as they layed more of my own favourites but still very very good.

Personal highlight was Used To Be In Evil Gazebo, although Dukla Prague Away Kit was a welcome surprise.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Brilliant stuff. Even the wife was impressed. Nigel was on top form. Liked the quip about Harthill services.

First time I've managed to see them so I cant compare to other gigs. Good to hear some old favourites along with the newer stuff. Slightly disappointed there was no Paintball's Coming Home but you cant have them play every song. As you say big back catalogue so you're always going to miss a few personal favourites. However no complaints from us tonight.
