  1. Shankland puts in a hell of a shift himself to be fair - he was always miles better at Ayr with Moffat who did less running but was excellent on the ball than with Moore who is all energy but not a lot else. I actually think Liam Smith might end up being the better signing of the two for you guys. A superb right back.
  2. Yeah that's definitely how bookies price the markets. Can't see any other reasoning for it. Was the exact same scenario at Dunfermline when Andy Ryan was almost always their favourite FGS despite hardly ever starting. Shankland was probably nearing 20 goals before they started reflecting that in the odds.
  3. I have nothing to back it up, but i'm certain that the reason Shankland was still a ridiculously good price for first goal scorer / anytime scorer with the bookies until mid September was due to his squad number - they had Craig Moore (9) as favourite every game ubtil then even though he hardly got on the park!
  4. Jonny Baillie must have had a good games / cards ratio over his senior career!
  5. Through in Greenock today and noticed the local paper were worrying that Morton still don't have any centre backs signed - they are looking at Kerr Waddle but says other clubs are in for him. Doubt thats a position we would be in for though....but at least we aren't the only ones still scrambling around!
  6. Anyone else keep getting their hopes up when Twitter sends a notification that Ayr Utd have tweeted only to open it and see that there's no #imminent mentioned and then feel a bit deflated? 2 in 10 mins there haha
  7. He got 6 goals after the 15th of December by my reckoning - penalties v Morton, Alloa and QoS, a free kick v Inverness and open play goals v Alloa and Ross County. In fairness though the injury obviously played a big part - he never managed to get that yard of sharpness back and clearly the head went down - was missing loads of chances that in the previous season and a half he was tucking away without even thinking.
  8. So after last season we now have Robbie Crawford earning a move to a higher level than Lawrence Shankland haha.
  9. Considering that was the Celtic lineup I don't think being involved in the games in this tour is particularly worrying re: Doohan not being loaned out.
  10. I think we maybe played Coventry at Somerset in the mid 90's and they had a few 'names' playing - got a vague memory of being at it and some of their players seeming like absolute giants! More recently I think we playee Bolton at Somerset but I didnt go to that. Pretty sure my last friendly was that Man U game as well. With the Betfred starting so early and having a generally pretty mixed standard of opposition I think its a bit of a piss take for clubs like us to be charging admission to see games v the likes of St Mirren and Motherwell so im glad we don't bother anymore.
  11. I'm going for three. Doohan and one other loan signing and one actual signing.
  12. Hopefully someone has a stormer and they dive in with a £100k offer again like last time.
  13. Wouldn't surprise me to see a couple of trialists on Tuesday, that's what happened with Andy Murdoch last year. As a few folk have said Doohan would be a last minute job after Celtic are home from their tour i'd think - he only signed on the Thursday just before the Betfred started last year so would expect Hare-Reid to play the friendlies again. Assuming Doohan does sign i'd give Hare-Reid the Tunnocks Cup as well - surely after the last 2 seasons efforts we will use that to play a youth / reserve side to see what they can do.
  14. Might simply be a case that the bigger teams were put off by the post injury form - he only scored 2 goals from open play from Xmas onwards I think.
  15. I see Dundee Utd sporting director confirmed they are in talks with him (according to The Sun anyway)
  16. Stolen from twitter - Ian McCall aka Mike Myers from So I Married an Axe Murderer is the best lookalike ive seen in a long time.
  17. 100%. Doolan is only 32 as well and I have a feeling that he will be looking at next season as being a massive 'point to prove' scenario. I hope we get him.
  18. Out of sheer boredom i've just sat and watched the highlights on Youtube from the 4-1 v Dunfermline, 5-1 v Morton and 5-0 v Dundee Utd games from last season. Struggling to think of many league games i've enjoyed more in the last 15 years.
  19. Seen him outside Tennents on Byers Rd in his crocs a couple of times. A modern day icon.
  20. Fair enough - maybe seemed bigger on the opening day as I was in the town for a few beers pre game and Thistle fans were everywhere - made an impression after the season in League One where most of the time you couldn't spot an away fan if your life depended on it! Tam o Shanter beer garden was jumping!
  21. Are there attendance stats available that only show home crowds? Would be interesting to see the first half v second half comparison for home fan only to see what the actual drop was once we turned a bit pish. Early season we had Partick bringing over 1000 on the opening day and pretty big crowds from Dunfermline and Dundee Utd that i don't think were anywhere near as big when they came later in the season.
  22. I've had two different people message me today both saying that there will be a new signing on Monday so my hopes are officially up. Edit: that's 3 folk now and they have all named Kris Doolan so must be something in it.
  23. I notice Lachlan mentioned a sizeable cost going on Project Brave - I have to admit i've never really paid any attention to it and assumed that was money coming in rather than going out.
