Is that a serious post? Firstly, of course the foul is in the box. Secondly, any foul in the box while the ball is in play, regardless of where the ball is when the foul occurs is a penalty. When Rangers number one fanboy, Kenny Miller, says it was a penalty, you have no case.

Can Celtic fans analyse anything without mentioning Rangers?

They're in a tricky spot now.

Foreign owners with no real links to the club but an eye on a profit, and another club who view them as a vehicle for their own ends.

Suddenly, making an arse of their fan ownership concept looks a dangerous mistake.

The Gordons have an “eye on the profit” as Hibs announce 3.7m loss is an interesting take

Glib cliched responses and whataboutery aside, there's been absolutely nothing from any of the Hibs fans to address anything I've raised.

You lads are basically just walking into the unknown with a whole host of unanswered questions and nobody seems to have even noticed.

What strikes me as odd about it is that Hibs' hand isn't even being forced here. At the time of the SMG money Hearts were skint. At the time of Vlad we had no other option apart from moving to Murrayfield.

Hibs are doing absolutely fine and yet the support seem happy to be swept along with a story that just doesn't make sense, yet raises some pretty worrying questions.

Up to you, but it wouldn't be me.

In terms of the "taking it badly lol" bantz, I'm not actually concerned. Look at Hearts' and Hibs' recent turnover. There's nothing in this for Hearts to be concerned about. Some Hibbies seem convinced this will elevate them to some kind of new level. That seems very unlikely.

Plenty of people have addressed your points but you just dismiss them with meaningless pseudointellectual drivel about “concerns”, “worrying questions” and “unknowns” without actually articulating what we should be concerned about.

I know what he said. The point is that believing what he's said involves accepting some quite unlikely aims at face value. That raises questions about the true motivations at work here.

I don't know if I've just missed it, but I've not seen any Hibs fan group raising concerns about this, and there seem to be very few dissenting voices.

Hibs fans repeatedly bring up SMG and Vlad, but don't seem to have taken on-board the lessons of those eperiences. When you're a mid-sized Scottish football club, be wary of people turning up and offering to throw money around while talking a good game.

What's being sold here doesn't make sense when you ask even the most basic questions. I get that it's hard for fans in any group to be the kill-joy who steps out of the general opinion, but there's a lot here to be at least very wary of.

There are no parallels between SMG/Vlad and the Gordons/BKG apart from at an extremely superficial level. He has explained his rationale and aims for investing a small amount into the club. Not sure what you’re expecting Hibs fans to dissent about.

Do you think Bournemouth being in Europe regularly seems likely? Again, I'd argue their obstacles to that are huge.

As for Hibs, Hibs need to finish third and then negotiate the qualifying rounds (unseeded at least for the next few years), or finish 4th - 5th and negotiate multiple qualifying rounds (unseeded). And, should they manage that, a relatively small number of players who don't even feature at Bournemouth yet (and possibly never will) will get to play a few games in Europe. If they play group stage football once every five years, they'll be doing well.

Got to be honest, that strains credulity as a rationale for a successful business person giving a football club millions of pounds.

In short, getting Hibs into Europe regularly will cost quite a bit, probably not happen all that often, and deliver pretty meagre rewards for a minority investor. It doesn't add up.

I’m just telling you what he said. He said it’s a strategic partnership to get Hibs into Europe to benefit his other clubs. He also mentioned “lack of immigration issues” and seems to have a genuine interest in developing sports teams.

    Not really sure that's true.

In what way does it help Bournemouth (or his other clubs) if Hibs play in the qualifiers of the Europa League most seasons? Far less a benefit worth a few million quid up front? What's the actual benefit to them?

Hibs' path to significant European football is one with a lot of obstacles. They're more likely to not make it than make it. Look what's been spent on the current team, and they may well not even make top 5. Seems an odd thing to base a significant investment around.

He has stated he wants Bournemouth in Europe so it makes perfect sense if you are trying to develop talent for Hibs to also play in Europe.

Absolutely shocked to see the Hearts fans on here and elsewhere talk the investment down.

The truth is nobody really knows how it'll turn out but there's no reason there shouldn't be some cautious optimism among HIbs fans.
We're going to have access to additional resource in terms of finances and a wider recruitment network. I think we'll undoubtedly have to make some allowances and concessions in the interests of the wider group of clubs but I feel the positives do outweigh the negatives here. Already we've had access to a player (Marcondes) that I'd wager we wouldn't have been able to sign previously.

People are quick to cast aspersions about the motives behind it and that's fine but listening to members of the Black Knights there's a genuine want for all clubs within their network to succeed. They do have a track record of success thus far with Lorient being the obvious exception. The continued investment to improve things on the pitch at Hibs will be a drop in the ocean for them in order to have a team regularly qualifying for European football (as far off as that objective may currently be).

I'm excited to see how things unfold.

I'm excited for the obvious benefits having access to barclays level expertise in things like sports science, scouting and coaching. You see players like McGinn leave Scotland and they turn from skinny wee lads to robots engineered to play football.

Anyone doing calculations to work out how much Foley could potentially make financially is missing the point. It's a strategic investment in a club that could relatively cheaply achieve regular european football, which is beneficial for both Hibs and his other clubs.

Hibs aren't desperate for investment at some existential level, he is only buying 25%. The Gordons could have easily sold the club entirely to BKG but they didn't so they clearly want to retain control.
