  1. It's all down to having a basic knowledge of all the players, something the MOTD lot have an astounding lack of. Lawrenson was a total embarrassment during the recent Confederations Cup. Can't say I dislike any of Sky's cricket team, they all contribute in different ways. Bob Willis is the world's angriest pundit though!
  2. I wasn't expecting to like him, but Andrew Strauss has been an excellent addition to Sky's team. I've enjoyed the bits he has done in the nets.
  3. Extra 8 overs tagged onto tomorrow, so a possible 98 in total if the weather behaves.
  4. I think where he really ballsed it up was his mistake causing Smith to be run out. Smith looked to be well set and was scoring quickly, if he had stayed in they could have had more runs in hand earlier, leading to an earlier declaration.
  5. I'm factoring in the weather when I say it will almost certainly be a draw. They've got a bit lucky with the rain so far but the forecast for tomorrow is the worst yet. I don't think there will be anywhere near 90 overs played tomorrow. I'll also be surprised if there isn't an overnight declaration, Aussies are in the last chance saloon now and need to take their chances with the lead they have.
  6. The draw looks like a certainty now IMO, unless England have an absolute catastrophic batting collapse tomorrow.
  7. Bollocks, rain is on, Off for an early tea and let's hope it's just a quick shower.
  8. Definitely, that should have been a comfortable two.
  9. If the series was only 1-0 I would maybe agree, but with England retaining the Ashes with a draw then I can't see them doing anything other than coming out and trying to block their way through enough of the day tomorrow to get the draw. Aussies making it hard for themselves with a daft run out for Smith. 292 lead with 5 wickets remaining.
  10. Hope the rain stays away, will be an intriguing couple of days if it does. IMO the Aussies will bat til about 4.45-5 pm and see where that takes them, gives them the last hour or so tonight and all day tomorrow to get the 10 wickets they need. Ideally they want to give England a target that might act as a carrot and might lead to some of the England batsmen playing some risky shots.
  11. Yep, think they really have to get England out tonight to have a chance of winning. They're making it very hard for England to score runs but really need to get the wickets quickly.
  12. KP's terrific innings comes to an end, 280-7 now. Still need 48 to avoid the follow on.
  13. 507-7 at tea. I think the Aussies will come out and have a mad bash for half an hour or so then declare, giving them a chance to bowl at England for about 90 minutes or so. If they don't declare, when is the next new ball due for the England attack?
  14. NIce to see someone at Sky with a sense of humour!
  15. Liking the new home kit, apart from the sponsors name. Nice to see a simple navy and white top without some of the hideous panels etc that have been on some recent efforts.
  16. David Warner involved in another bust up, this time an onfield one with the SA wicketkeeper. http://www1.skysports.com/cricket/news/12175/8843705/australia-batsman-david-warner-in-confrontation-with-opponent
  17. Last lap underway, breakaway reeled in.
  18. Though I heard them say that 8 of his last 10 dismissals were LBW?
  19. It's a big chance for England to hammer home the difference in class between the sides at the moment, especially after the first test being so unexpectedly close. The feel good factor of Lehman taking over is quickly coming to an end.
  20. Doesn't actually take over until next summer, Scott Johnston will remain in charge until then.
  21. Heartbreaking defeat for Glasgow Warriors in Dublin last night, going down 17-15 with Stuart Hogg missing a conversion that would have tied it after Mark Bennett scored a cracking try. Leinster were terrific in defence with Rob Kearney having one of the best try saving tackles you'll ever see, managing to get under Ryan Grant as he crashed over the try line. Ulster v Leinster next week in the final, the Lions management must be watching these games through their fingers. Last night was a terrific match and very physical, Brian O'Donnell went off injured and a few others took big whacks with Heaslip getting a belter of a cut above his eye. Some daft penalties cost Glasgow though with them outscoring the home side by 2 tries to 1.
  22. Googled it and was surprised to find that there were 3 in that squad, with Gordon Bulloch, Simon Taylor and Chris Cusiter selected. Jason White was called up as a replacement later on.Ross Ford, Euan Murray, Nathan Hines and Mike Blair were picked in 2009. Andy Nicol was on last night, am I imagining it or did he end up on the bench for the last test in Oz in 2001 because he was out there watching as a fan and they had run out of scrum halves?
  23. Still a good chance that players who are not in the original squad will take part in the Tests, injuries are almost inevitable on a tour like this. Ryan Grant very unlucky not to be picked and it must have been a fairly close call between Visser and Maitland, with the latter's southern hemisphere experience giving him the nod.
  24. Glasgow have just humped Munster 51-24, stunning second half performance. 6 tries in total with Maitland, Matawalu, Jackson, Bennett, Hogg and Barclay all going over.
