As a player who scores goals for fun you would assume he would want to join a team that play the odd bout of attacking football.

That rules out Forfar (at the moment)

Unfortunately agents have a big say in the signing process . The player usually has to just trust that the agent is working for his best interests.

I’m afraid you are the donkey, the Chairman said when he took over was to get back into the SPFL,two seasons down the line

When exactly did the chairman say this ?

In the words of Karen Dunbar.........    "I smell shite"

This board is the same pish as the last board, all talk and now we haven’t won promotion this board will lack ambition,I said months ago we will end up a mid table team with Price in charge probably a bottom team.Watch the crowd dwindle now ,no money coming in more years in the doldrums for the club.Brechin City finished as a SPFL club RIP.

Your posts are the same pish as your last posts.  Don't judge everyone else by your own low standards.

Didn't you say the crowds had dwindled earlier this season ? ...................When in fact they have increased ?

I think that the club were faced then with the current issue - a Manager under contract and key players who wouldn't sign on again. Some stalwarts of the team that stayed didn't perform to their best in L1 (and were released by Smith at the end of that season).

We can always look back and wish that things could have been done differently but we are where we are and it's important to continue to support the club.

Absolutely.  I just hope lessons have been learned and the supporters are  listened to and not taken for granted .

The incredible and unwavering support in the club's restructure cannot be overstated.

I'm not sure why you do agree with this? You are aware that promotion to the Championship was totally unexpected and the squad was nowhere near good enough to compete in a full time league. The club didn't have the resources to pay full time wages and did their best to bring in players who would improve the squad without forcing the club into debt .During the 1st half of the season many games were decided by the odd goal (including 2 games against the League winners) and managing a point at home against Dundee United. Towards the end of the season the players lost heart with defeat after defeat. We leeched off nobody that year but in retrospect that season was the catalyst for the club's decline. Despite the euphoria of beating Alloa on penalties, getting promotion turned out to be a disaster.

I was speaking purely from a frustrated supporter's perspective.  Your explanation sums up how that season unfolded but in hindsight maybe a bit more forward planning for our expected return to League one might have helped ease the pain a bit.

It started with your ambition to play in the Lowland League instead. Did you expect a warm reception after that?

Ironic now that our club's actions back then have since inspired the decision  to give clubs on the borderline  the choice of HL or LL. 🤔

Perhaps if Brechin had shown the faintest morsel of ambition to build a competent football side in 2017/18 - instead of trying to leech off the rest of the Championship and producing the worst performance in SPFL history - then they wouldn't have plunged out of the leagues

I agree wholeheartedly with that statement .

Wouldn't take a whole lot of digging to find examples of Brechin fans talking down to everyone else on a weekly basis in the first season, TBH. The unpleasant episode following a postponement at Rothes featuring one of the more simple-minded Brechin posters whining like a bitch about a calloff and how unprofessional it all was only for someone at Rothes to make him look a complete piece later on.

Now Brechin have Kevin Mackie dragging his ass across the carpet on the regular, it's open season on these clowns. Fucking idiots.

For talking down to people , you are surely the master.

  9. 1 hour ago, CityDave94 said:

Certainly Brechin never eased up during a game if they were coasting to an easy 5-0 or 6-0 win at home. Did they?

That was never going to bite them on the arse later on?

If they are disliked now, they be even more disliked next season because of their Chairman's comments in the press. Clubs will take great delight in keeping them in the HL and watch Mackie have another public cranial detonation.

You just hate seeing it. 🤣

I think there has been a general dislike from day one in the HL when everyone objected to our very public statements  of ambition to get out of this league . It appears that is not the done thing in these parts.

Clubs have taken great delight in trying to keep us here for 3 seasons already.  Another one won't make any difference.

The crowds are pretty immaterial bronze license sets standards in a number of areas of a club’s operation not just its ground

Try telling that to the Buckie player McHardy who quite clearly thinks it was Buckie's ground which was the area of concern for them according to an article in the Sunday Post today. 🤣........................Mind you , more shame on the reporter for trying to peddle this nonsense.

It's already been said but as farcical as this play off situation has ended up, I'm surprised people weren't more vocal about how likely this was going to happen considering nobody in the league not even Brechin would have even been able to go up since the new licence measures were brought in last year.

Should also say I think the whole bronze licence requirements they've brought in are clearly too high if only east Kilbride and cumbernauld colts qualify for promotion from tier 5 and is very much more spfl gatekeeping bullshit.

This could be  Doncaster's revenge for  the HL refusing the Colts and the conference.

If so then I would wholeheartedly applaud this long-form shithousery as the best thing to happen in Scottish football since Rangers died.

Frame and hang the notifying letter of Buckie's ineligibility in the Louvre.

In your head rent free ..........for the rest of your life  Doofus.

The March 31st deadline wasn't only about licensing, it was other stuff too, Buckie couldn't have been unaware of it, the SPFL even put in bold as well as underlining it. :1eye

That is all very clear for the clubs .  Is there a reason it took until 2 days ago for the big announcement?

If the inevitable happens on Saturday then I hope Price falls on his sword after the game. He will have failed and a complete re-set will have to take place next season.

    I quite agree with that.

Not sure what more he could be doing to be honest (apart from ever winning against any good team).

He could maybe start by having faith in our strongest team and not just change it for the sake of changing. We won 5-1 a few weeks ago with probably our best display of the season . That team was dismantled for the next game.

This has been going on for the past 2 months . Is it any wonder players have lost confidence?

It's not rocket science . Just start playing your strongest team.

Will Keith/Brechin be writing another fuuuuuming joint statement about the disgraceful, jobsworth referee not giving them an extra hour and a half to shovel sand onto a flooded park to somehow create a real surface for a professional football match?

No because it was pishing down at the time of inspection as it had been for the previous 24 hours and the forecast was more rain in the afternoon you simpleton.

A quick check of the weather forecast in that area might have saved you the bother of trolling

Vale potentially putting one of the final nails in the coffin for their rivals' title bid has to feel good.

Reckon Brechin limp to the finish line, but nae danger they get near promotion unfortunately 🙁

When we got promoted to the championship under Darren Dods we finished 4th in league one having lost more games than we won . Nobody gave us a chance but we upped it for the play offs , beat Raith and Alloa to go up .

    Never say never.

Turned out to be the beginning of the end for us but it was good at the time. 🥴

If you play like that against East Kilbride (or even Clyde), you'll get skelped. See you next season.

And we'll be discussing yet another scrappy Brechin win against a Wick side who don't seem to care.

  19. 2 hours ago, Cyclizine said:

If this is supposedly the top side in the Highland League, then I don't think anyone will be fearing them in the playoffs. Brechin seem nervous, Wick don't seem to care.

    The league table doesn't lie.

When you have to win every game , of course it's going to be nervy near the end.

Of course Wick don't seem to care when there is nothing at stake other than pride.
