Yeh, id agree with that, pretty much like a UK Democrat party in delivery?

Lets face it theyre all shite.

Could probably put aspects of David Cameron's Tories under it as well with a vicious Home Secretary and some patina of progressive social gestures (gay marriage) underpinning horrible economic policy.

As an aside it was funny to watch the Sensibles (led by that moron Stephen Bush) arguing Labour should praise Tory policy over the last decade to win over supporters and when they had their little debate I don't think a single one could point to the one actually good thing the Tories did which was legalising gay marriage presumably because they believe Red Wall bigots would foam at the mouth at the prospect.

    Unserious people.

I much preferred the satire bits in The Matrix Ressurections to the action bits and the stepping forward from the line and heist of Trinity happening as it's explained seemed deliberately clichéd. Showing how cool and epic the original was compared to the new one also seemed very pointed.

As I already said setting the main action in a soulless coffee shop was genius and I obviously enjoyed the everything is shiny but shite vibe. The Merovingian being an irrelevant annoyance shouting wildly about cultural decline very much made me feel #represented.

Other satire bits I liked: the first bot swarm having an anime theme. Zion declining into a conservative strategy obviously mocking Wakanda in Black Panther. The arsehole assistant having Jonah Hill energy. Everything about Neil Patrick Harris as the therapist villain but particularly using all the 'empowering' language and the very contemporary detail of him keeping his job and facing no consequences despite majorly fucking up.

"Tiffany's" husband being called Chad and also being Chad Stahelski was funny.

  3. Watched the Animatrix to round off my Matrix watching. Pretty good anthology that helps flesh out the universe a little bit more. There's almost definitely going to be another one this year which will hopefully continue the same path. The Matrix gestures to a lot of really cool stuff that would benefit from little shorts as opposed to an extended universe monstrosity.

I have purchased Disco Elysium again, this time on Stadia for £7. Runs much better than it does on my PS4.

@NotTheParsI have managed to hit an "all time low" with Kim before 13:00 on Day 1, and I'm playing through as a fascist, racist, misogynist this time.

I can only guess that you've indulged the racist lorry driver a bit too much? Genuinely one of the few games I can't stomach a bad b*****d playthrough in. Shot Cuno as well and triggered an unexpected fail state when I did try to play one!

Elixir is the thread's equivalent of a shock jock, just constantly calling everything "vile" and "evil" and so on or calling for folk to be sacked or put in prison. Absolutely zero substance. Essentially the carbon copy of Bob Mahelp on the other side of the argument.

Frantically crossing out all of my new year's resolutions and replacing them with "become the Howard Stern of Pie and Bovril"

Finally stuck with this and am hooked. About 10 episodes in to S3 and it's not laugh out loud funny all the time but it's nice easy viewing with chuckles along the way.

Louise is fast becoming one of my favourite cartoon characters. A complete psychopath who's one liners kill me at times.

Louise is my favourite. Then Andy & Ollie. Then Teddy.

Kristen Schaal's one of my favourite comedy actresses. Brilliant in Bojack, 30 Rock and What We Do In The Shadows as well.

Morning everyone. I'm looking for a bit of advice if possible. It's my daughter's 21st in a couple of weeks and after months of "what do you want for your birthday?"..."I don't know" she's suddenly said she fancies a games console. I had no idea she had the remotest interest in such things and I don't know where to start when it comes to choosing one.
She says she would likely play games connected to the Resident evil series, Dark pictures anthologies, Minecraft and Dead by daylight. (I've heard of Minecraftemoji846.png). Any advice on the right one to buy would be appreciated. Please bear in mind this may be passing phase so don't want to spend a fortune if I can avoid it.

    Thanks.

Resident Evil 7, Minecraft and Dead by Daylight are all on the Xbox Game Pass Service (basically Netflix for games). I think Dark Pictures was as well when it first came out so future releases might end up doing the same.

I have both consoles and I think the Game Pass is the big selling point for me on Xbox. I haven't bought a game since April as there's enough new releases popping up on the Game Pass every week for me to play. Depending on availability as well the Series S might be the easiest console to get although it is a weaker console as a trade off so if your daughter is bothered by graphics and performance then it might not be suitable.

I think the big question might be what console does her friends have if they play games as well. Dead by Daylight especially is a game that encourages you to play with friends so if they're all on Playstation or Xbox then that might be the decider. Or just ask her!

I'm sure there'll be several Playstation enthusiasts as well who'll give good reasons to go for that. I have both and Xbox is my preference for multiple reasons.

I should also say though that Playstation has its own Game Pass called PS Now that is definitely getting better. It doesn't have Minecraft, DBD or the Dark Pictures but it does have a few of the older Resident Evil games up to 6.

  8. Yup. I'd completely rubbered LFTs until Xmas Eve as we were going to be staying at mum's for Xmas. She's 77, not in particularly good health and already has a respiratory issue. Testing positive was obviously a fucking gutter, but IMO the right thing to do. Self isolating with beer and loads of cheesecake hasn't been a total fucking disaster either.

Aye I’m the same. The gf and myself have spent Christmas with a lot of people who are classed as vulnerable and on balance it’s easier to take a test and establish I don’t have it than attempting to explain why they shouldn’t worry.

No, I just seem to have a better understanding of the innate selfishness in all humans than you do.
I meant to add that there is absolutely no doubt that a significant number of those testing their arses off are hoping for a few government-sanctioned days off at the end of the year.
But you continue to believe you live in world full of unicorns where there's a clear delineation between "good people" and "bad people" if you want.

    Pure projection. Quite funny though.

    Possibly.

More likely that most of them are just hypochondriacs looking for a label for how they feel.

No I think it's more that most people don't want to infect the people close to them and ruin their Christmas/ New Year by forcing them into isolation.

Sometimes there's a big whiff of projection from what you post.

  11. A simple majority of MSPs legislating for a referendum is all it should take. Every rebuttal to this from Tories starts from the simple fact that they're worried they would lose a second referendum and no amount of intellectual obfuscation changes that simple fact.

  12. You have to assume with the BBC interviewing an actual Pinochet descendant about Chile and the Dersh on Ghislaine's sentencing that there's some irony poisoned editor having the time of their life. They'll have Mussolini's granddaughter on if there's a left breakthrough in Italy.

A pandemic and public health crisis should transcend politics. A view on restrictions is not left versus right wing; or SNP v Tory; or good v evil.

Its really frustrating that everything is viewed through a political prism and that a huge chunk of the populace are so tribal in their outlook they seem to have lost the ability for original thought and to think critically.

Think the issue is that amplifying people who might be correct on this but generally horrendous gives them a credence to push insane shit down the line. Politics for Ali specifically is annoying because while he ostensibly just shares news from other outlets he does frequently add spin that is clearly either false, supposition, or pushing a specific line. The China stuff he posted for example that was shared on here the other day made claims that are almost definitely unverifiable especially when it comes from a 19 year old Tory from England.

Personally, I think we should shoot every public servant that isn't working 24/7 through this.

The signal's better in the church. Not that difficult to grasp.

The church has that rapid pay-in window too, where your wedge hits Gods account within two hours guaranteed.

A good Catholic recognising the primacy of the church as a method of communicating with God. You love to see it.

*There continues to be large volumes of tests being processed by labs; this and the festive period have impacted turnaround times for results. The figures being reported today will include a backlog from before Christmas. We are starting to see improvements in turnaround times, and continue to monitor the situation.

Mates of mine can't book a PCR in England atm. Loads of regions reporting none available.

If unionists really want to kill independence off, the best way to do it would be to grant a referendum now and campaign like hell FOR the union (as opposed to why not independence) and there is a good chance they'd succeed. The longer and more stubborn the even 'granting' of a referendum goes on, the more solid the case for independence becomes. There is an argument that Sturgeon would prefer the latter as right now it is 50/50 and she knows it needs to be more 60/40 for independence going into a referendum campaign.

I'd say that if the current government continues to refuse, the higher the liklihood that Labour come in with some kind of offer to Scots along the lines of 'vote for us and get a 2nd referendum' although would campaign against it. On that scenario SNP would be happy and Labour would be happy as would take the view that a strong progressive Westminster government would be enough the suppress thoughts on independence. (I'm not sure it would).

If and when there is a 2nd referendum takes place, it MUST be included in any clause that another one can not take place for a fixed period, I.e 30 years or something. That way people are clear on what their choice is. Independence supporters would know that now is their only time, unionists would know that this settles the issue for a long period and everyone can put the debate to rest for now and whatever the result, focus on bettering Scotland.

I am pro independence and want a referendum ASAP, but equally, the constant constitutional debating from all parties is stifling Scotland. Let's just get to it and decide one way or the other. Failure to do do will be harmful and the debate is not going away otherwise.

The Tories are clearly sitting back and hoping the independence movement tears itself apart through a lack of substantial movement. There's no benefit in risking a referendum so soon for them.
