After extensive overnight research the main thrust of amateur status is expenses only and automatic release at end of season. Not sure about ending links mid-season
Hope we make it to jersey. Without playing anybody whose fitness is in doubt we can involve amateurs, trialists or short term loans. We can frame it as a squad building exercise, result doesn’t matter. Pulling out now would be embarrassing, ungracious towards the hosts and most of all would instil an air of negativity within the club right before the league campaign starts

What exactly does amateur mean with regards to terms and conditions?
Can be paid expenses? Expenses but no salary allowed? Can be terminated more easily by us, for example if injured?
we can’t hold on to them if another offer comes their way? We can’t sell them?just wondering
I’m guessing trialists will be keen on free trip to jersey

Didn't know that, thanks
What a stupid rule. Smaller clubs turn their squad over to greater extent than higher tier teams, so go into the league cup with a team where players are less familiar with each other. That's why (St Johnstone result apart) we do very badly every year. Its just a warm up event really.
Chance of bit of a run in Scottish cup later on when team has 'gelled' a bit.
How very SPFL

Thinking we might have used a trialist or 2 in recent games, rather than playing Anderson out of position. We are talking about signing “not just any old player” but nothing ventured …
Hopefully tonight we can start Jamieson in goals, meechan right back and 1st choice centre backs - 80% of how it should be, giving some indication of how it’s going to be for the season
after early signings it has ended up a rather disjointed preseason

Bilham injured? Holiday?
small squad will save money in jersey - all fit in a family room?

Yeah - not a rich blood supply so heals very slowly. Good luck to him. Took me over 2 years with, as you say, several false dawns along the way.
Where did callum yates end up?

RJM are awful to deal with, useless

Alternatives might be?
1/ Yates up top and Kirkpatrick central attacking midfielder?
or
2/ o’Reilly Yates Taylor
Berry Wedderburn Brown
some feel miller dropped off last season but sooner have him than some of the signings
not confident right now
at 17 players now. Wasn’t that the number we heard? If we getting one more, we might need loan player that turns out to be a world beater

No matter who we sign in the summer I will not make any comment or have any expectations for next season.
Years of bitter experience have finally sunk in - many signings seem good on paper and we all get optimistic but it only leads to disappointment. The small number of posts on our thread in the past few weeks, especially before games, suggests I’m not the only one to be scunnered.
See you all after 7 or 8 games into next season

Going into this season two of our best players were Euan O’Reilly and Callum Yeats. We don’t seem to have got much out of them. Is Yeats injured? If so is that the only issue or was his performance being questioned? What about O’Reilly - not starting many games?

Thanks. Sounds a bit like Swift - couple of strong spells but also long runs of bad results.
Maybe Naismith bit older and wiser now.
Don’t see Brown Ferguson as a bad cop. Top guy tho’, was sorry to see him go last time

All of the above as a minimum

if they mess around for 2-3 weeks then decide they need a new manager it will take them 2 weeks to get feet under the table. before we know it 5-6 weeks are wasted. New person needs to assess squad ahead of players moving in january.
Getting a bad feeling
Hope i'm wrong!
Do we even know if the job has been advertised?

Re next manager - any news pending? Rumours?
has there been a closing date for applications?

Objectively it’s hard to argue against the pyramid but as a league 2 club supporter it’s hard having one eye on the football and one on the trapdoor. Club could have 10 solid seasons then boom - gone.
Not enjoying the game as much in past 4 or 5 years

One particular point is his inability to put store in having a good goalkeeper. It’s like he deliberately signs poor ones.
Failure to learn from mistakes.

Not a thing

Agree, if they do I won’t be standing
afca32 or whatever the name down voted my original post which was a neutral request for info/conversation starter - what a strange thing to do
