  1. Played against Langfield a few times over the past couple of seasons and Kenny Arthur was in goals for Airdrie the season we went up and Annan pre-season just after that where Gary Fraser scored his first thunderbolt as a trialist. Can't think of any other recent ones tbh.
  2. It would be infuriating if he was really good, as it is it's fucking hilarious.
  3. With Lawless signed up that's us now essentially got a starting XI that wouldn't be completely hopeless. Scully/Gallacher Elliott Frans Seaborne Booth Bannigan Osman Fraser Lawless---------------Stevenson Doolan
  4. I was holding off booking a holiday on the off chance we got somewhere decent like Spain again. I think I'll just book it now if Grangemouth is as exciting as this pre-season is going to get.
  5. He's not been very good since last May. I'd be surprised if he goes to a team on a plastic pitch after his tears about them over this season.
  6. We'd be as well playing Scully for pre-season and see how we go. If he looks like he's not ready then no harm done as we can see about getting someone else in plus Gallacher and see about loaning Scully out. You'd think after 2 years apparently playing well at League 1 level we might be able to get him a Championship club if he's not good enough to be our number 1 yet.
  7. I don't think Letheren is any better or worse than Fox. They are both average at best at this level. It's not as if we're losing a great keeper to replace with an absolute diddy so I can't say I particularly care if we sign Letheren. If he's as bad as is being made out then Gallacher can step in like he had to do on numerous occasions when Fox lost the plot.
  8. Also with the way our system works our wide players would have to be pretty fucking shite not to get a decent number of assists. Everything comes through them and the full backs overlapping.
  9. Thom Watt from STV has some weird system for deciding what's an assist and what's not. Lawless has more assists than Higgy according to SLJ unless you go by his. He counts shots saved and then someone knocks in the rebound as an assist but passing to someone who scores from 30 yards isn't an assist.
  10. I loved Forbes, it's pretty much his lack of pace that meant he even ended up at us in the first place. It just simply wasn't going to work for him with a manager like Archie who expects players to run their arse off as he simply didn't have the pace to keep up with any Premier League midfield. That's him won all 3 lower league divisions now he's won league 1 with Morton, it looks like he's going to end up one of these players who turns up at lower league clubs all his career and does well but can't make the step up. A more likeable John Baird type. He's also still on the front of our season tickets so I get to see the back of his head every 2nd week.
  11. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/scott-fox-need-leave-partick-5758200 It mirrors Tuffey needing to leave for the sake of his international career and making a c**t of it. With Fox being average at best I wish him all the luck if he really thinks he's capable of playing at a higher level but I don't really see how him moving to another Premier League team to do the exact same as he's doing for us will somehow force his way into Strachan's plans. He's 3 years younger than Marshall and 5 years younger than Gordon and McGregor, by the time they are all looking to retire from international football as he's never going to be better than any of them Strachan will want to be looking at the younger keepers like Bain.
  12. As long as we keep Lawless I don't really care where Higginbotham ends up. The 3 month or so excellent spell last season from him turned out to be the exception rather than the rule.
  13. Does pay as you play even exist at our level? You can see it happening at a higher level when players are earning thousands per week or at a part time level where a player has his other job's income to fall back on. If the club want to be nice then offering him training facilities or if he is retiring letting him get involved in coaching would be a decent thing to do but other than that I don't think we should be waiting around for another season on the off chance a guy who has played about 2 seasons worth of football in 7 or 8 years finally gets fit.
  14. Sod is gone. They are all gone. However Osman stays so we are cool.
  15. I suspect next season will be Bannigan's last season at Thistle. He turns 23 and I think that means we don't get compensation for him. Can't really argue with that if he goes really, we'll have had 4 full seasons of him playing every week including the promotion season.
  16. Archie up to 6th (joint) longer serving manager in the SPFL now with Murray going to St Mirren. If McKinnon goes to Raith Rovers he's up to 5th.
  17. Archie in his PTTV interview has said that's all the players who are going to be offered deals been offered them and he reckons they should all be fairly quick and getting back with a yes or a no so I guess we'll get more signing (or not signing) news in the next week. Edit - beaten to it bt R&Y Going by Slacker's post above we are in pretty decent shape before any of the out of contract players even agree deals. I expect some of them will sign up too meaning the club probably only need to make a handful of signings this summer. We have cover for most positions GK - Scully, Waters (I'm assuming he's signed up) - needs improvement RB - Elliott - need a RB CB - Seaborne, Frans, Lindsay - need cover LB - Booth, possibly Seaborne or Bannigan providing he's not up against Ainsworth CM - Osman, Fraser, Bannigan Stevenson AM - Stevenson, McDaid, Elliott - need wide players ST- Doolan, Stevenson - need 1 more striker
  18. Meh the only real concern is the lack of Welsh in the list of those released. Archie's ruthless decisions in the past such as Craig, Dowie and Mair have been largely justified and turned out for the best.
  19. 2nd round is the one before we play someone like St Mirren. So if we get a home tie it'll be against someone from about say 6th in the first division down depending on the results in the 1st round,
  20. Best just to lose both to be on the safe side. I think it might've been mentioned in here that there was a player interview (possibly Lawless) mentioning that we felt we should be a top 6 side before the Kilmarnock game so that's the reason for that loss.
  21. Next week is going to be a fucking lol fest with Motherwell down. I'm going to be in that corner near their ultra c***s with my cock out laughing like f**k
  22. Excellent news. I could watch that GIF all day, shame when I made it I had no idea how to cut out the full size bit from instagram.
