  1. Location being the problem, anyone going to the pub to watch the game will obviously choose one in town. I await the advertising gimmick to try to entice fans....cranes, hot spa, sit in a c5 I think they'd seriously need to push the boat out for it to become a going concern other than matchdays, its great that its happens but the Amarillo suite (or whatever its called now) is an example that its not got legs in it to be a 365 day business. Perhaps it should've been in the plans when built but bigger and should've kept parts of brockville to brockville it up, seats from the stand, terracing etc....hindsight is a beautiful thing tho Great that its there tho, still plenty options to make it something special
  2. There is a lot more to add than just Jambo and Fife...... Fife divide, Glasgow divide, Edinburgh divide and a Man Utd and Milwall between them. On paper a decent addition, cant say I have a dislike/hate for Jimmy Nicholl as a player or a manager, plenty of experience and will surely have a contact or two up his sleeve for player recruitment.
  3. Is it midweek...? It never feels hollow beating the fifers even at tiddly winks. We don't we are born compared to England in travel times, tho I'll still complain
  4. It was heavily tinged with sarcasm, tho if Hartley manages to find the player that last produced the goods 4 year ago, I wouldnt be complaining..... Id like to say stranger things have happened, but I cant back that up.....!!!
  5. According to a Dundee fan, he did well then got injured and the competition and formation wasn't a fit for him. We all knew he was never a striker who couldn't play up top on his own, fit or not, recent weeks had shown that up again. Surely a clean slate for all......even Shepherd ......
  6. So because we did something twice means we can't do better ? The pars failed twice to get promoted from the third tier, finishing 7th one season, did you write off promotion the next season on the basis of the previous two ? Hartley will need to get the ball rolling our way quickly, it is indeed a funny league so far. The main top three beating each other and two of you getting pumped of Morton. I'm sure at one point a couple of seasons ago we were 9pts behind hibs with a dozen or so games to play and managed to finish above them, with 28 to play its all very much to play for I think the January window will be crucial this season for the title, in both who comes in and who leaves each club, tho utd it will be more the in window.
  7. On paper, he was the best option for us and available to us. He is a bit of a nad but he is oor nad noo onwards and upwards hopefully
  8. We are Rangers attitude.... Was it 13 league losses his first, 12 his second ... That's progress We won't risk our club having the 2nd biggest budget.....
  9. What has the above got to do with the mess Dunfermline got themselves into ? If you are not glorifying a managers good season with money you didnt have to spend, then I will apologise but it seems to me that some Pars fans are still teary eyed on that season and forgetting the the previous two with McIntyre.
  10. Pars get all teary eyed over him for some reason or another, forgetting losing a third of your games for two seasons and winning about 4 games in the SPL. One season, where spending money you didnt have in January to win the league is his crowning glory, seems to me that some Pars love how they shafted their creditors
  11. Thankfully won't fit our boards remit He had £s to spend at county, Boyce's goals papered over the cracks. I didn't rate him at either the pars or queens either. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at Killie with director Bowie saying he should apply
  12. Hippo got his boots warmed up for Saturday HT: Hibernian 0-2 Falkirk ‬ ‪Hippolyte & Shepherd have the Bairns in front at the break! #COYB ‬
  13. It wasnt a huge revelation of putting someone who can defend properly at left back, Gallachers times may come but when we are shipping nearly a goal a game down the left hand side, you have to act on it. A Kerr appointment would follow the norm in how most managers are appointed in Scotland with a player coming to end of playing career and taking coaching badges, it would also be a cost cutting exercise too, already on the payroll
  14. Gary Holt has been hinted over the last few years also. The Killie job is the kinda job you go into knowing 12 months later you will be looking for a new job
  15. I wouldn't have sibbald or Loy being in that top 3, as it stands, both have the ability to be but both were horrific last week It wasn't tactical genius yesterday, the simple facts of a four man defence is eliminate your weakness, Smith done that in playing Mcghee at left back, he also tweaked here and there but that was the crucial area. We have been horrendous down that left hand side when it mattered, Houston's inability to replace Leahy has cost him his job
  16. Dumbarton will be as good as it gets for Aitken for a reason......
  17. Aitken should be nowhere near our short list, the day we hire a manager who couldn't win back to back league games over a season and makes his teams difficult to beat whilst we are in the 2nd tier, then its time to lock the doors up for good. If you'd choose a manager that has won things over three divisions out of four to one who hasn't, then that says more about you than we need to know
  18. Back to back promotions tend to confirm you have something about you versus staying a league that the likes of Alloa, Cowndenbeath, yourselves have done at times with ease. The days of a part time team in this league of being easy meat is long gone, perhaps not challenge the top end but results over the last 7 year have proven its not a case of them being a non runner. I'd take winning leagues or promotion over just staying in a league any day, I'm sure when I look back, I won't revisit the day we won 9 games to stay in a league. Still where did you get your magic ball to see that Hartley was getting relegated ? Could be handy with the bookies for punt on our next manager. I seem to recall Hartley's successor not being up to much
  19. If Aitken had taken Stranraer from 3rd division to championship in two seasons then on paper it would be similar to Hartley. A lot of us laughed at his fitness regimes pre games and half time with Alloa but it didnt look funny when they were in the top half of the table for a spell. He had took Alloa as far as he could, the general consensus was that if he stayed longer, he would only harm his reputation after taking them up two leagues and riding high first half of the season, tho getting the Dundee job just over two weeks from quitting, suggests something was whispered in his ear. Murray and Ross did a better job than Aitken for me (obviously Ross the brains behind the operation) Dumbarton are a bigger club than Alloa which made Hartley's achievements with them a bit more for me. Historically there has always been one or more full time club to go tits up to help part time clubs to stay up in recent times, cant actually recall the last time there wasnt a part time club in this league
  20. Back to back promotions from the 3rd to division to the 1st/championship, challenged for a spell at the top end of the table, style of football, pushing player fitness at a part time level and Alloa were a club that no one blinked an eye when they were in the bottom division I thoroughly enjoyed the play off games v Dunfermline to get to the championship, played the fifers off the park on the first game and didnt deserve the narrow 1-0 defeat in the next leg. Aitken has done reasonably well but its not close to what Murray/Ross as a pair did or Hartley, his achievements are probably for me akin to Murray at Dumbarton on his own........whatever happened to him
  21. I dont think it will be years, dont think he is the kind of manager to take over a struggling club which is why he was never on the top of my wanted list for us. The only hope is that he can recreate the St Johnstone, Burnley and the first season at Bolton harmony and flow that he had a decade ago.......
