  1. Weather for old Trafford looks dreadful.

Got my travel all booked but not got a ticket for day 4 yet, there's been a fair few come up for sale so think I'll easily get one closer to the time.

Hotel is free cancellation and train was pretty cheap so won't be too much out of pocket if I decide not to bother going.

Just under the point, should be a good view there. I’m in D8 on day 4 and D3 day 5. Party stand, should be fun.

Seeing the odd resale ticket come up on the lancs cricket site for earlier days - seem to go quite quick but hopefully I'll manage to get one

Unlikely. It was a ballot for tickets and if you didn’t get through that you went on a waiting list, so I assume official resales are through that. We could only get day 4 & 5 tickets, so I’m hoping for some rain on days 1-3!

Just managed to get a ticket for Day 5 - Stand E5 - which looks like a decent view to be fair.  Hopefully something will come up for the earlier days but as it was only £25 for day 5 got that just in case.

Thanks, as it's Manchester then a good chance of rain dragging it out a bit. Enjoy.

The wife is in a panic. Her car apparently isn't going into gear easily, and keeps sticking. And as she is away, our normal garage is a no go. She doesn't want to drive it home till it is fixed.

Her pal is recommending a garage near her to look at it, but I have no clue if they are any good, or rip off merchants, or actual good guys.

Can of Coke under the clutch pedal?

What's the gear change like with the engine off?

  6. Any idea if official resale tickets are likely to be available for the first four days of the old Trafford match, had a look online and the only tickets available are day 5 standing and I wasn't really wanting day 5 in case it doesn't get that far.

Another “ground” which probably shouldn’t be anywhere near the senior leagues.

IIRC, very similar to Rosyth but without the cheap pie and bovril

There might be a raised standing bit on the sports centre side of the pitch but can't recall for sure.

Leaving gifts / events are weird, I'm never arsed about that sort of stuff, I'd usually just like to walk out the door and that's it. I once worked for a big distillery, where I got on with people, but I'm fully aware I was a c**t to people at times when they were pushing their luck, but when it came to leaving they handed me two bags of alcohol, a hefty Amazon voucher and they all stood there waiting on me to say a few words! I was stunned, it was weird as f**k and in the moment I made a bit of a cheeky comment that was clearly meant as a joke, but no one laughed and just looked awkward, some people even shuffled away at that point. I think I was escorted out the door after that.

Best leaving present was handing in my notice at a job that didn't resemble what was discussed.  Lasted 6 weeks, on the day I handed my notice in I was marched off the premises and given a months pay in lieu of notice, started another job the next day.

  9. My current gas boiler is coming up for 20 years old so have been considering replacing it for a more fuel efficient one.  Was going to wait a bit for heat pumps to become a bit more established but got a mail from Scottish Gas saying 'Claim your £7.5k grant – get a heat pump from just £499':

Want to go greener with a heat pump, but worried your home won’t be as comfortable? You can relax with the Warm Home Promise from Scottish Gas.

We only install a heat pump if we’re 100% sure it’ll make your home as warm and cosy as a boiler. And if it doesn’t, we’ll put things right – or give you your money back.

as they'll do a free home survey I thought, why not, at least I've be able to see if I need to have any pipework and/or radiators replaced and get an idea of the potential cost and something to compare against other installers.

Filled in the form online and got.

Thanks for your interest in joining the air source heat pump revolution.

You’ve just taken an important step on the way to a cleaner, greener and more efficient way of heating your home and hot water.

We’re offering installations in more and more areas every week – we’ll be in touch as soon as we’re in your area.

Why send me the mail if you aren't doing installations in my area, pull the addresses from the database you used and filter by available postcodes.

    Things I learned from a recent Data and Analytics conference;

    • Attempting to boil the ocean is not recommended.
    • Any question asked is either a good or excellent question.
    • Viewing the world with one eye shut is also not recommended.
    • Data is the new oil (which I presume means it is made up of dead dinosaurs?).
    • Dominos sell an absolute shit load of pizzas.

Can you review my PR for my pipeline using ADF for GCP to get the L0 data ready for the next scrum.

I can't stand Elton John but even if I loves him I'd still think this was shite. About 5% of what he's singing is actually recognisable as words.

Think you need a better TV if that's the case.

  12. Quite tempted to go to this one year soon before I hit 50.  Think I'll be looking at hiring a camper van with a toilet, shower and fridge though, reckon that would be a grand for 2 tickets and the parking, then the cost to hire the van and fuel.

    Not staying in a tent.

    Any news on todays friendly?

Cowdenbeath won 2-1, compared to the first pre season game last year it was 100 times better.

Very watchable for a pre season game, wad played to a high tempo throughout which was good considering the stage of the season and it was warm.
