  1. The season United signed him (when he was the top scorer in the league) he'd mostly been playing off the left for us with Van Veen as the #9. I get the impression they just stuck him out there and thought they'd get the same output. I know you had Motherwell fans in your mentions yesterday telling you that it was Alexander who got the best out of Watt and that's certainly true in terms of goalscoring but broadly Robinson seemed to sort out his focus, conditioning, motivation and application. He was our POTY by an absolute mile the season Robinson ended up chucking it and resigned. He's an smashing player and in the first half of last season he dragged us through games and was a huge part of why we were 4th in the league when he fucked off to Tannadice and burned his bridges with a chunk of our support. FWIW:
  2. Tbf, as others have said reading between the lines it suggests we're looking at a change of shape so in that respect having KVV, Obika, Aitchison and Mandron is fine if we're going with 2 strikers (or KVV playing as a #10/SS off a big man). Also, the fact we've effectively run KVV into the ground and consistently asked him to play through injuries in the time he's been at the club means having a couple of options (who aren't Connor Shields) isn't the worst position to be in. As @joewarkfanclub says the chat from Burrows at the moment seems to be that there are still more to come in, as in more than one.
  3. I mean, in the context of us losing Mandron on Friday with 4 days or whatever of the window still to go then Obika feels like as good an alternative as we could hope for. Given the choice of chucking a wedge at Fleetwood for Ged Garner or taking Obika on loan til the end of the season then...aye, OBIKA! It suggests that Aitchison for Shields and Obika for Mandron has been the move. Seems there's more to come but so far: Out: Aarons, Moult, Fox, Penney (end of loan), Johansen, Connelly (loan), Speirs (loan), Maguire (loan), Shields (loan) = 9 In: Blaney, Crankshaw (loan), Mandron (immediately injured), Danzaki, Aitchison, Furlong (loan), Obika (loan) = 7 absolutely fucked it might have fucked it.
  4. If Scott Burns is to be believed in that we asked the question of Fuchs it suggests we were at least looking at resolving the issue. There's always free agency I guess but given Hammell didn't touch that market after the summer window when he was pitching up week after week talking about how shallow the squad was it seems doubtful he'd look at it now.
  5. I mean, you say that but Robinson had him in on trial with us before your lot signed him so...LOL on a few levels.
  6. Nah, as long as the paperwork is done or whatever we can announce tomorrow. Moult in the summer window being the case in point. Tyler Magloire was another one announced after the window had *slammed* shut.
  7. In context, off the back of Mandron's injury, Aitchison seems like a good pick up. Not in a like for like sense but just as a general body around the place. Take a look at the other business for similar positions you've had Rudden to St Johnstone, Watt to St Mirren (with a wage tab we weren't going to pick up), Simon Murray to County, Watkins stayed at Aberdeen. He's played plenty of games so it's not like he's a project and he's basically replaced Connor Shields - fair enough. I saw McEntee was on the bench for Walsall tonight. That's annoying about Fuchs, it at least suggests that they've maybe been reading @Busta Nut's Tweets though.
  8. Aye, it was less speculating and more from the point of view of the squad. Is he injured or he's fit and we're just not playing him. Last match-day squad he was involved in was mid-December vs Killie. That's quite a while for him just to have disappeared. At least in Toby's case it's kind of been made known that he's long term unavailable.
  9. As it stands: GK: Kelly, Oxborough DF: O'Donnell, Lamie, McGinn, Blaney, Johnston MF: Spittal, Slattery, Cornelius, Tierney, Goss, Miller FW: Van Veen, Crankshaw, Danzaki, McKinstry Injured: Carroll, Mugabi, McGinley, Efford, Mandron, Morris (?) I mean, seriously what's the script with Morris? Is he injured or...?
  10. See if we were getting shot of Morris then I'd see the point of Aitchison and be absolutely fine with it. As a Mandron replacement though? Whit? At least the bold Ged Garner was 6ft 2". Although I'll not lie, I'm not getting bent out of shape about us not chucking money at a boy from Fleetwood (no offence to Ged). I mentioned it earlier but when it was initially flagged we had an interest it seemed weird he'd choose to come up here given he had other options that were far more local - similar to Gotts.
  11. He did aye. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/blackburn-rovers-winger-motherwell-talks-28937608
  12. Just a quick recap at 19:05 Out: Aarons, Moult, Fox, Penney (end of loan), Johansen, Connelly (loan), Speirs (loan), Maguire (loan), Shields (loan) In: Blaney, Crankshaw (loan), Mandron, Danzaki No fit left back. 2 fit centre backs. No one added to the midfield. absolutely fucked it.
  13. The undisclosed fee part of big Sol leaving makes you think eh?
  14. They didn't play together no. Main left in summer 2019. Watt arrived February 2020.
  15. I mean, I started questioning Hammell's judgement when I clocked that he's following renowned creep and all round goon Andrew Tate on Twitter dot com but f**k me this is genuine shambles territory.
  16. It seems we're one of 5 clubs interested in Garner. Given Garner appears to be a Scouser currently playing for Fleetwood then we're not exactly the most local of options for him. We're 100% going to f**k this up today aren't we?
  17. Tbf, we're not skint. It was broadly covered in the post-AGM discussion about our limitations of our model vs peer group clubs with owners willing to write off substantial losses but despite our loss at the end of the last financial year we had £4.2m+ cash in the bank - which was marginally more than at the close of 2021 (£4.1m). For context in the accounts 10 years ago (2012) our cash at bank was £400k. Our ownership/funding situation means we run with a limited pay structure at the club (relatively speaking) but that's a completely different thing to being skint. I can't speak with any great authority on St Mirren's situation beyond what I've read in @Div's posts on here and on Twitter but it seems like they've been burning through cash. Their cash at the bank in their latest accounts was c.£900k vs £2.7m in 2021. It was pre-Lasley but it's generally acknowledged that they threw stupid money at Brophy to get him to sign (which is why they were desperate to off-load him) and generally speaking it seems they've increased their wage budget. It also explains why they seem to be cashing in on some of their assets just now. Either way, in answer to the question, it's a case of how each club is prepared to use the budget they have available.
  18. He had a good record in his season with QotS in the Championship and that was broadly what led to us taking a punt on him. So that's a positive off the bat. It just hasn't happened for him at Motherwell though. Whether it's a case of him not being good enough for the step up or him just being poorly managed or a combination of both IDK. The story goes that he chapped Alexander's door in the first few months of him being at the club asking about a loan back to the Championship and wanting clarification about game time. Alexander said he'd get his chance, was true to his word and played him. This season he's kind of become a lightning rod for fans frustrations because he's been getting flung out on the park regardless of form largely because Hammell's not had any alternatives. Like many other players in the team his form has regressed wildly under Hammell (and it wasn't a high bar when Alexander was here) so his confidence looks absolutely shot. Like others have said he has tools but I don't think either manager he's had in his time at the club have actually looked like they've had any idea how to use him. I'd imagine he'll be fucking delighted to get away from the place tbh.
  19. I follow Nixon but don't subscribe to his Patreon so haven't read the paywalled story. He's mentioned both St Mirren and us (Motherwell). I've only seen St Johnstone mentioned by the Twitter Blue boy. Fwiw, Nixon had Watt to Salford earlier in the window and has also been flying the kite about the move to Belgium @RandomGuy. mentioned so it seems likely he's being fed a line by his agent or whatever.
