  1. I take it that Rangers fan thinks Goodwin is still your manager. Not that it matters but Robinson's previously admitted that he grew up supporting Rangers (and Aston Villa).
  2. Tbh, it's about expectations - if you're listening expecting some sort of dry 'football is a very serious business' chat about Scottish fitba' then you'll be disappointed as it's not and has never been their mandate. IMO, that says more about the listener than the pod itself. Hand-wringing and navel-gazing is probably best left to club specific pods. Look at any successful, long running pod be it The Football Ramble, Football Weekly etc or even the sports and culture stuff on The Ringer then generally there's a bit of levity. Agree 100% about the Lower League pods with Shaughan and Telfer. An absolute treat (and I say that as someone with next to no interest in lower league football).
  3. Another vacancy. I mean, we knew this given Kerr getting the assistant job but I kind of find this stuff interesting in terms of the profile of who we're looking to employ.
  4. Aye, like I literally couldn't name a Pigeon Detectives song without Googling it (or Courteeners for that matter) but no shade here. It was really just a case of that Tweet not really suggesting a guy who's currently vibing to White Light/White Heat. For avoidance of doubt, extreme Heartsy-ness aside, I like Joel on both TV and Pod.
  5. Why would you need your players that can hurt Celtic to have a very off day? Sounds like the opposite of what you'd need IMO.
  6. @well fan for life has pretty much covered it but you'll get energy and graft from him. It sounds like I'm damning him with faint praise here but he genuinely seems like a really good pro. He originally signed as a midfielder and he got a run on the right side of a narrow midfield 3 when McGhee took over from Baraclough. Robinson liked him at right back and he made the position his own in the season when we finished 3rd* but he went off a cliff there at the start of the following Covid season. Alexander gave him a run in midfield but he pretty much disappeared from the starting line up after the 3-0 loss at Dens (tbf he wasn't the only one to be bombed out the side by GA).
  7. The spiel on his profile on the official site says as much tbf. He's also contracted until 2025.
  8. This is via the bold Alan Nixon's Patreon. Interesting in so much as Joey Efford is OOC next summer and it hasn't really happened for Connor Shields.
  9. Aye lower leagues can loan in players until the end of the month. Like I say, I'm not suggesting that there's anything in it - McPake may just have decided to f**k off early and the fact is Shields started most of Hammell's opening games doesn't hint at us huckling him out the door. It's just that Alexander mentioned last season that Shields had chapped his door about wanting to go out on loan if he wasn't going to get regular games and as it stands we've got Van Veen and Moult as our #9s, Spittal, McKinstry and Aarons as wide options with Efford having started ahead of him in the last 2 games. It feels like Shields is someone that teams in the lower leagues could actually want given his time at QoS.
  10. He put himself about and there's no arguing with his graft but the ball just didn't really stick. He doesn't feel like a back to goal striker at all. He had a good chance in the first half (at least I think it was him) where the QP defence fucked it and passed the ball straight to him on the edge of the box but he took a bit too long to get his shot away (not unlike the position Watt found himself in for United at the weekend but without the confusion). Actually it turns out it was the build up to the first goal: Maybe it was confirmation bias on my part but it kind of reinforced the point @crazylegsjoe_mfc made a few pages back. That definitely rings true. It may have been entirely a coincidence or he was keen to beat the traffic but I noticed McPake pretty much up and left as soon as Shields was subbed off.
  11. He ran about a bit and as far as I could see didn't break. @ropy mentioned it earlier in the thread he had one really good chance where he got in behind 1 v 1 with the 'keeper but hit his shot straight at him from a narrow angle. To tie things back to the chat about the Caley and United games one of the interesting things about yesterday was we were pretty much playing a 4231 rather than a 433. It's interesting (IMO) given it's not a shape we've used with any great success since McCall's time at the club which, coincidentally, was one of the better footballing sides we've had in recent years (until it wasn't and he nearly relegated us).
  12. Just use the 12ft.io page it'll bypass the paywall. https://12ft.io/proxy?q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecourier.co.uk%2Ffp%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Fst-johnstone%2F3662431%2Fst-johnstone-boss-callum-davidson-recruitment%2F%3Futm_source%3Dtwitter%26utm_medium%3Dsocial
  13. I mean, Moult wasn't/isn't a free agent so I kind of ruled that out and I assume the deal was done, it just hadn't been formally announced. I suppose 'potentially' it could have been Snodgrass but I imagine we'd have taken the hint by then. It's entirely possible there's nothing in it and he was just being non-committal but the fact he mentioned that we were trying to get some things done on deadline day that didn't happen and also the deal being on the table for Snodgrass makes me wonder if we're still looking. He did, aye. Subbed on for Shields who had been playing as the #9.
  14. Incidentally with Johnston away to Cove that our squad looking like this: GK: Kelly, Oxborough, Connelly DF: O'Donnell, Lamie, Mugabi, Johansen, McGinn, Penney MF: Maguire, Spittal, Slattery, Cornelius Tierney, Goss FW: Van Veen, Efford, McKinstry (loan), Aarons (loan), Moult (loan), Morris, Mahon, Shields Total: 23 Injured: Carroll, McGinley Loaned out: Fox, Johnston, Devine Tbh, it wouldn't be a massive surprise if another couple were loaned out eh?
