  1. To that point, it's probably worth noting that a number of our first team signings last season didn't happen until mid-July. Slattery was 24th July, Ojala was 29th July and Goss was 26th August. Johansen was 31st August. Which I guess brings us full circle to your original point of there's a chance they won't be in for Austria.
  2. See that boy is apparently still at Morecambe (also the shitey wee account has deleted the original Tweet ). And now he's signed a contract extension...
  3. Someone was asking about the whole ST/streaming patter a while back. Mildly interested to see Burrows reply on the subject.
  4. Who am I to argue with footballkitnews.com and footballshirtculture.com
  5. Aye, Leighton was Benfica. https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/sport/14711158.tom-leighton-scottish-youngster-time-benfica-becoming-next-oliver-burke/ Ended up moving to Watford. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/16269862.watford-youngster-tom-leighton-sets-sights-first-team-breakthrough/
  6. Tbh, it's hard to get worked up about the Rice thing as at the age he is his career could go in any direction. Yes it'd have been nice to keep hold of him if he's as good as folk seem to think he could be but ultimately he's 15 you've got to let him make his choices. Jamie Semple (whose brother also signed for Rangers a while back) is a good example that the whole "you should stay at the club..." doesn't always play out. He was linked with big clubs as a teenager (Man City, Liverpool, Spurs), IIRC McGhee wanted him in training with the first team at 14, played in the Scotland age groups - he stuck around signed his pro deal and an extension at 18 before being released and ending up part of an East Fife team relegated from L1. Rice might turn out to be fucking brilliant or...not. It's tough to get bent out of shape about it especially when the other Scotland Youth *did* actually sign pro terms with the club. You win some, you lose some eh?
  7. Tbf, I take your point but other than the expense there's nothing to stop trialists going to Austria if we wanted. AFAIK St Johnstone haven't announced Carey but he's over in Spain with them and presumably having a lovely time. Also, FWIW we were at training camps when we announced Ciftci and McCormack (albeit in the January window).
  8. @RandomGuy. has already got there but it's down to the exemptions panel being in place in Scotland. As RG says, it's easier for foreign players to sign in Scotland than it is in England so players/agents are viewing Scottish clubs as an easier 'in' with a view to platforming them for a move on to England. We signed a Finnish international, a Norwegian, a Frenchman and an American last season. Our HoR talked about it in an interview a while back:
  9. My 7s game generally goes with white, red or black as team colours so it's the away shirt for me and I'll pick up the home one in the sale after we've been patched out the SC.
  10. This is actually something that was quite interesting to fact check on our thread after Robinson popped up with the claim that "He has got a great ability to find to players you’ve never heard of and produce gems that have been sold on for millions of pounds" when you announced Foyle No shade on either Robinson or Foyle but when you actually look at the money we brought in from player trading the majority of it came from Academy players rather than "gems" Foyle had discovered. Basically the only players signed when Foyle was in situ who were sold for money were Heneghan, Bowman, Kipré and Watt. Both Moult and Johnson were via our previous HoR, a guy called Gary Owers. Anyway, none of that is a dig at either Robinson or Foyle, it's just a bit of context as to why we were actually looking at it as a point of conversation. Les Hutchison took over in 2015 and that was the first step towards fan-ownership, so using that as a starting point here's the list of players we've sold in that period and "reported" fees (FWIW: Foyle became our HoR in August 15 and was at the club through to May 21 - albeit he'd handed in his notice earlier than that): Basically 8 (9 if you include Pearson) of those 15 were products of the Motherwell Academy.
  11. We've been with Macron since 14/15 and this is how we've rotated the away shirts in the last 10 years or so: 21/22 - Black 20/21 - Petrol Blue 19/20 - White 18/19 - Claret 17/18 - Black 16/17 - Denim Blue 15/16 - Claret 14/15 - White 13/14 - Black (Puma) 12/13 - Petrol Blue (Puma) 11/12 - Silver (Puma)
  12. I'd not disagree but O'Donnell played 144 games for the club the first time round. Gary McAllister was before my time but Wiki says 59. McClair? Not a Motherwell Youth player but 52 games apparently. Is that so much different to Campbell's 160 games, Cadden 139, Turnbull 41, Scott 42? We're definitely more aware of the likes of Rice, McKinstry, McAlear now but as @Swello says above there's a certain reality about it and unless the reply guys are actively advocating chucking 14 and 15 year olds into the first team then it's just a risk of modern fitba'. Some will choose to progress with us, some will move to other clubs. We've currently got Cornelius (who was in Hibs academy before ours) and Maguire in the first team. Again, it was barely mentioned at the time but Sam Campbell was a target for both Leeds and Liverpool, he apparently spoke to both and we had reportedly agreed a fee, but he's still at the club and popped up on the bench a couple of times at the tail end of last season.
  13. The Rice scenario is something that's been often discussed on here, it is what it is. What's slightly weird is that the Rangers and Manchester City interest was first mentioned months ago (like, 6 months ago) and it barely registered with Motherwell Twitter but now it's an 'Old Firm tug-of-war' folk are getting worked into a shoot.
  14. St Mirren have a totaliser running on the home page of their website. Currently sitting at 2953. Their early bird is up on 3rd July. St Johnstone aren't doing a running total AFAIK but @The Saintee pointed out on their thread that apparently someone on their version of SO counted them and their STs are around 2000. Killie "passed the 3,000 Season Ticket mark" on June 17. United "edging closer" to 5.5k
  15. Aye. No doubt. Tbh, it caught my eye as it's felt like the ST stuff has been a bit more low key this summer - the socials has really just been re-posts of the promo video. Maybe that's because we still seem to be short of a 'Head of Digital. Brand and Communications' (the vacancy is still listed on the official site) or it's been a conscious strategy decision not to kick the arse out of it (or maybe there's been no difference and I've just not been paying attention). Either way, it's good to see the numbers are "going really well".
  16. Clocked this on my daily check of the Burrows TL for pitch update stuff. Sounds broadly around pre-Pandemic numbers.
  17. Aye, it was brought up and mentioned in the County thread back in January. There's a quoted extract from that article.
