  1. @crazylegsjoe_mfc - there you go, it's only til the end of the season.
  2. Robinson's on Sportsound tonight, there's an article up by Scott Mullen on the BBC website. He's been doing the rounds with the press recently so I'd be surprised if there's much said that'll be different from those interviews: As @Casagolda mentions in that post earlier even though it's early days Alexander's been working largely with the same squad as Robinson bar Kelly (and Carroll) and you're seeing marginal improvements in certain areas that a set of fresh eyes can bring eg: small sample but that's Cole got 3 in Alexander's 4 games - who was the last centre forward that had a wee run like that of non-penalty goals under Robinson? Main when he arrived?
  3. In the spirit of Alex Fisher, absolutely fair play to the club (and his agent) for being able to find a taker for White. Also, it was nice of us to drop him off in Dingwall for them. If we could get someone to show a bit of interest in Ricki Lamie now that would be smashing.
  4. Motherwell OUT: Jordan White (to Ross County, permanent)
  5. Aye, he's seemed to be unlucky in that respect. I mean last season he was smashing against St Mirren at FP but then got ran over the top of when Aberdeen threw all their defenders into the starting XI and was on the bench for the next 3 games. This season he played the full 90 in the two wins against County and Livi then after the Scotland u21s shambles he's back to being a bit part player where he's an unused sub or getting 5 - 10 mins off the bench. I think one of the general problems with Maguire (apart from the lack of games) is not really finding a position for him. Robinson clearly didn't trust him at centre back and tried to convert him into a midfielder and from that POV it's not really clear whether he's a #6 or an #8 or a holding midfielder. As @Swello says there wasn't a massive drop in him taking over from Polworth last night.
  6. 100%. I'm definitely not advocating a trolley dash round the bargain bins but I thought his response was a bit more open to the idea of bringing a couple in than he had been previously when he was talking about wanting to assess the squad first. He's also saying that he's only planning on bringing folk in if they'll improve the team and/or the squad. I mean, I've yet to hear a manager say they're actively looking to sign shite players but it at the very least gives the indication that we're looking about. Clearly he caveats that by saying he likes the squad and if we can't bring in bodies who are better than what we have then he's happy to work with what he has (or words to that effect).
  7. Fwiw: I thought Alexander sounded quite open to us bringing in some new players in his post-match. Albeit also saying that he likes the group of players he has here. From 3:46 below: "We'll see what we can do, we've got the capability of bringing players in. We have the green light to do that if we can."
  8. The only real similarities are that it's two players who weren't/aren't getting games for their clubs moving between Motherwell and St Mirren. In Tait's case Saints signed him to go into their starting XI and with the benefit of hindsight his form has made us look like fucking idiots for not just signing him up as we've just ended up flapping around trying to play centre backs at left back and our manager eventually resigning because there's been a massive drop in standards in the dressing room. IMO Tait (and Hartley) played a big part in the 'culture' around the club that fitted in with what Robinson was trying to do. With Foley, I say this as someone who genuinely hasn't seen much of him, if everyone's fit then he probably won't start ahead of Campbell, Donnelly, Polworth, O'Hara and possibly even Maguire. What we are short of is an experienced option on the bench and also him being able to fill in as a centre half is interesting given there's been chat about Nathan McGinley not really having settled up here, Charlie Dunne's short term contract is up this month and our other back up in that position is Ricki fucking Lamie.
  9. Chorizo & Salad wraps with a wee splash of Louisiana hot sauce for me.
  10. I've mentioned this before, he spent pretty much his entire time playing wide left for Craigan's u20s and was...good. He scored goals and was generally effective in that team. It kind of blows my mind that he's never really had a run out on that side since he broke into our first team as an 'inverted winger'. I'm pretty sure the limited games he had with Rangers he was playing on the right, same with Rotherham and subsequently his 2nd spell here. There's absolutely no argument from me that he's been dugmeat this season but continuing to stick him out on the right when literally every opposition team knows his one trick from that position is to cut in on his left is fucking wild.
  11. Season loan with a recall break in January (according to Rangers).
  12. His loan was/is only until January. According to Robinson we were talking to him/Livi about extending but then Robinson resigned and plans seem to be up in the air. Alexander has generally been taking a measured "I want to take a look at the squad before deciding on changes" but he's been in the door a couple of weeks now with 2 draws and a loss under his belt so you'd hope he's got a feel for what's needed. It's very much a 2+2 situation with Crawford given his loan's up and we're now being linked with Foley and he's not exactly been a permanent fixture in the starting line up. If we're looking to move bodies out first then Crawford's an obvious one given his loan's up.
  13. I'll not profess to knowing much (anything) about Foley or even what type of midfielder he is (though @RandomGuy.'s post above is interesting). He's definitely not a sexy signing and let's face it a 34 year old who's not getting a game with St Mirren isn't someone who screams 'marquee signing'. So yeah, I probably land in the 'underwhelmed' group while acknowledging that he seems to have previously had a good season at St Mirren. Ultimately though, the market we're in is 100% players who aren't getting a game elsewhere with the 'rona situation limiting options even more: Kelly - 3rd/4th choice at QPR = an upgrade on Chapman (the lowest bar possible) Lawleff - not getting a game at Burton = an upgrade on Seedorf/Hastie? Smith - out the picture at Northampton = straight swap for Jordan White Going by RG's point about ball recoveries I'd guess Foley sounds like a swap for Crawford (whose loan ends this month). Equally though I don't think someone like Foley addresses our creativity problem although possibly he might lighten the load on Polworth and Campbell. It's kind of the worst patter going but if we're restricted to more Scottish based players than usual who realistically are we looking at as options to improve our 'quality'? ie: who isn't getting a game for their present club? White to County, Middleton to St Johnstone, Foley to us etc...it's pretty much a shuffle of squad players between clubs.
  14. I'm guessing he might be a replacement for Crawford if we're not renewing his loan? I have no idea who Kyle Gunn is but it seems Foley's the St Mirren club captain.
  15. *CRACKS KNUCKLES* Our out of contract list is long and not particularly distinguished: KEEP: Declan Gallagher - currently at Fir Park with "a gun to his head", apparently 2 games away from a 1 year extension but "officially" his deal is up in the summer. He's not been anywhere near the player he was last season but it'd be good to keep him around if only to cash in on the Euros royalties. Stephen O'Donnell - only here on a short term deal which probably expires in the next few days. I have no strong opinion on SOD other than he's better than our alternative options at RB. Allan Campbell - feels like he's plateaued a bit since Turnbull left, still the most important player in our team. He'll be away in the summer, the story was that he's already been speaking to Millwall but nominally gets a KEEP vote because he's good. Devante Cole - one of the bright spots of the season. I like big Devante. Not exactly prolific but can hold up the ball, run the channels and is actually a bit of a presence. UNDECIDED Charles Dunne - like SOD his short term deal is up this month but he hasn't played since the start of the 19/20 season and there's not been much by way of an update. If he's actually fit and isn't going to break down again then he's probably a decent option to have around. Liam Polworth - I'm a fan but he's another, like Gallagher, who's been nowhere near the player he was last season and feels very much like one of those who Robinson was aiming his "players who are believing everything their agents tell them", "players who don't want to be here". On his day he's a smashing player but those days have been few and far between this season, hence the UNDECIDED vots. PUNT Scott Fox - he did his ACL in the summer, literally hasn't played a competitive minute for us. I have no real opinion on Fox, he was brought in as cover and our goalkeeper position has been almost entirely cursed this season. He probably falls into the bracket of someone we should probably move on just to remove as many traces as possible of this shitshow of a season. Aaron Chapman - unbelievably kept a couple of clean sheets against County and Livi but put in a performance for the ages against Accies where we would literally have been as well with a cardboard cutout in goals. It's for that game he'll be remembered. Bevis Mugabi - he's actually come on to a game in fits and starts this season and his MOTM performance against Rangers was testament to that but with a new manager it's one of those where it feels like we should be upgrading. Jordan White - chances are he'll be a Ross County player in the next 48 hours anyway in a scenario where we're literally dropping him off in Dingwall for them. Sherwin Seedorf - he's rapid but dropped out the team midway through last season and he's struggled to make any sort of an impact this time around. Chris Long - Definitely someone Robinson was taking shots at in the weeks before he resigned. Left our contract offer on the table all summer, eventually decided to sign it and has looked wholly miserable about being here ever since.
  16. Big Chris Lucketti there... Disappointed he doesn't offer his view on paneer.
  17. Given how Grimshaw was playing at the start of the season O'Donnell's come in and been...fine? I'd say he's improved us based on where we were without necessarily screaming 'International Footballer'. I don't think anyone's ever been under the illusion that his situation is very much of convenience; we needed a full back as the one we had went off a cliff, he lives 5 minutes away and needed minutes to keep ticking over for his international aspirations. It's not a criticism of him because, as I say, the arrangement with SOD has been pretty clear but in a way his 'one foot out the door' status has kind of been indicative of the malaise and general funk that's been around the team this season. Of our regular-ish starting XI at least half have contracts expiring in the summer (unless there are any other 'plot twist' clauses like Gallagher's).
  18. That's such a weird deal from his POV considering he's got 1.5 years left with us. I'd have thought a loan until the end of the season to be made permanent in the summer would make more sense. Unless Uncle Roy is actually paying us money for him.
  19. All the butchers on a a google search seem to be Aberdeen based: https://hmsheridan.co.uk/product/lasagne-pie/ http://www.rossbakery.co.uk/hot-pies-and-savories.php http://www.scotsmeat.com/acatalog/Scottish_Pies.html It was a pal of mine from Aberdeen who introduced me to the concept and my reaction was similar to yours. The only time I've ever bought one was up in the AB area. It definitely seems to be a thing from that neck of the woods as I can't remember seeing them anywhere local. Having said that, I've improvised before and made my own with a pie casing and a portion of lasagne. Does the job. I mean, what's not to like...a boy on Reddit was posting about them:
