  1. It's been on the go since 2012 by the looks of things. That's some dedication there.
  2. Stevie Wonder - Living For The City
  3. Depends really. Are we talking *best* with everyone playing to the top of their game/potential or *best* with the sort of form they've shown this season? If it's the former then I'd go: Samson Tait Heneghan McManus Hammell Ainsworth Cadden McHugh Pearson McDonald Moult Edit: actually, thinking about it a bit more I'd probably say I'd rather have McHugh at centre half than Heneghan tbh. So I'm revising it to: Samson Tait McHugh McManus Hammell Ainsworth Cadden Pearson Frear McDonald Moult

  7. Depends who you ask really. It's fair to say that he's not been involved much this season, however the flip of that is that when he has been given the opportunity he's not really made an impact. He had a smashing game against County in the 4-1 win but was hooked after an hour the following week in the 2-0 loss at Dens. He was tried as a 2nd striker against Hearts at Fir Park, was subbed off after 55 mins and was benched or not in the squad for the next 5 games (he eventually got 8 mins off the bench against St Johnstone). He's made 24 appearances in the league this season, which is more than you'd think but 16 of those have been off the bench and 10 of those 16 have been for less than 20 mins. There's a general school of thought that McGhee froze him out especially after Ainsworth's public breakdown in front of the press after the 1-0 loss at Firhill last season but that conveniently overlooks the fact that both McCall and Baraclough benched him for spells. He gave an interview to the press back in December talking about wanting to impress to earn a new contract as his current one is up this year but since then he's barely featured. There's been fairly consistent speculation that the club have been looking to offload him over the past couple of transfer windows, I think County were mentioned last summer.

  11. Some nice #content from the MFC Twitter with different angles & slo-mo of the u20s goals against St Mirren this evening. Tbh I'm just using that as an excuse to post the link as the 4th from David Turnbull is an absolute outrage.
  12. Just having a quick look at some of Thistle's stats for the season so far there. It really does go some way to showing the difference having a solid 'keeper makes in this league. Thistle have only lost 4 times in 18 games; W 7 D 7 L 4 (with 7 clean sheets) since Cerny came back mid-November. In the run of 10 games when he was out they were W 2 D 4 L 4.

  16. Just had a watch of his interview there. Seems pretty understandable from his perspective tbh. He was brought to the club, didn't exactly hit the ground running and was seemingly binned out the team after a handful of games. When McGhee brought him back he just seemed to be getting chucked out on to the park. I'm not surprised there's a bit of frustration on his part. Whether it's a case of him just not showing the standards McGhee was expecting IDK. There was that comment in a post-match interview ages ago about how McGhee felt that it was up to Bowman & Blyth to match the levels shown by Moult and McDonald to justify them being picked (post-County at Fir Park actually), that echoed a similar comments he made last season re: Laing & Kennedy and having had issues with their attitude and I guess the oft-speculated on Ainsworth issues. One thing that did seem curious to me after the past few games was that when McGhee brought him in he suggested that Bowman would allow is to play the 433 he wanted to play, essentially saying that Bowman, Moult and McDonald would be his first pick front 3. He seemed to ditch that very quickly, what seems interesting is that after only a handful of games Bowman, Moult and McDonald now seem to be establishing themselves as viable options for Robinson, having seemingly been written off by McGhee however that seems to have come about as a result of circumstance and having had to change the shape to pretty much a 343/3412 given the players he's had available.
  17. I'd be surprised if we're running about offering PCAs to players just now but given there's the Northern Ireland connection with Robinson as our manager, our new GK coach has worked in their set-up (though at youth levels) as well it wouldn't be a massive shock if we were interested. With Samson's deal being up along with our general woeful defensive performances this season compounded by the look of utter disdain McHugh shot him after we conceded on Saturday I can't imagine that his deal will be renewed so I'd imagine we'll definitely be in the market for a new first choice 'keeper. I had wondered whether we might be looking at bringing Ripley back given Robinson worked with him here, took him to Oldham and Ripley had said himself in a recent Q&A interview that he'd be open to coming back to Fir Park. He seems a pretty ambitious character though so chances are he'd fancy a crack at first team football with 'Boro in the Championship, I can't see Valdes sticking around with them. In terms of joining the dots though Mannus seems like a pretty obvious option for us.
