  1. Going by the limited highlights we've got I definitely see the Gorrin (and Campbell) comparisons. Hopefully it won't take him 6 months to be good like Ally Gorrin. I noticed this bit of discourse on Motherwell Twitter last night and it kind of takes us back to the discussion on here around the time that The Terrace boys had Goss in their Top 10 Defensive Midfielders list: @RandomGuy. did a radar for Goss on this thread a while back, it'd be interesting to see how Zdravkovsi compares - that YouTube clip I posted is basically 5 mins of him recovering balls and pinging passes (and I'm here for it). I suppose one of the knock ons of this is that it raises the question of where Barry Maguire fits in terms of game time as we've got Spittal/Tierney for the attacking midfielder spot, Zdravkovsi/Miller for the Goss role and Slattery/Paton as the options for the #8. Maguire's role would seem to be a general auxiliary option to cover various positions which is fine but doesn't give the impression he's going to be starting every week (if that's what he wants).
  2. Having a swatch at Wee Davo's IG and going by the comments on his farewell post he seems well liked by the Limassol fans. https://www.instagram.com/p/CukTPofsDeJ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== According to Transfermarkt he made 161 appearances for them so that's nice. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/davor-zdravkovski/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/344969
  3. He posted up a photo of the wean on his IG on the 15th so that would check out if he's been given some time off as the wean was apparently born on the 14th and he was on the bench in Elgin on the 15th. Congratulations etc.
  4. Season 2 up on Disney+ today...
  5. I know the milestone appearances Tweets are a thing we do now but fucking hell lads.
  6. Not to white knight Lamie or make any sort of excuses as we've seen him be an absolute shambles when he's actually fit but I guess it's worth caveating the fact that last night was his first competitive start since he had that operation at the tail end of the season and it's not as if he was a first team regular during Kettlewell's 14 game run either. He'd played 39 minutes of first team football since the Aberdeen game on the 4th of February. Again, no argument from me that he shouldn't be anywhere near the starting XI but if one of the objectives of these games (besides winning a game of fitba' and qualifying) is to get minutes in the legs he's probably one of the squad who is likely to be furthest away from being match sharp.
  7. Looking at Robinson's time playing in the group stages his record was P 12 W 11 D 1 L 0 (we lost the penalties against Stranraer) and that was fine and ultimately he'd argue that his priority was qualifying but the trade off was that in doing so he was pretty much playing a close to established starting XI in every game. For reference, the starting line up in the QOTS game in the screenshot below was; Carson; Kipré, McHugh, Donnelly; Tait, Cadden, Rose, Campbell, Frear; Bowman, Sammon with a bench of Johnson, Taylor-Sinclair, Grimshaw, Gillespie, Gorrin, Bigrimana, Hartley. In Turnbull's breakout season in 18/19 (the one in the screenshot) he didn't play a single minute of the group stage games which, in hindsight, probably feels like an opportunity missed. I can't recall from memory if he was maybe injured or not but he was on the bench for the first game then dropped out the squad and he subsequently started the league season on the bench. From that point of view, and acknowledging the extent to which Alexander seemed wildly unprepared in both his pre-seasons, it's kind of hard to get worked up at the idea of Kettlewell taking a bit of a clean slate approach in order to take a look at the squad as a whole.
  8. In fairness, was Lamie’s vice-captaincy not an Alexander choice that Hammell inherited and presumably didn’t see the need to change?
  9. Pearson had a couple of stints in India. I can't find the reports from the time but IIRC he was supposedly earning daft money. He alluded to it when he re-signed in February 17: McHugh and Hartley also seemed to make a decent go of it out there. McHugh's already had four seasons, Hartley had two and a bit.
  10. In fairness I imagine Shields' reaction will be somewhat similar. Absolutely fair play to him like. I hope he has a lovely time. I know there's been a lot of handwringing from sections of Motherwell Twitter but this feels a very "managed" window. I know I was sceptical about the Casey thing but this one's definitely questionable given the account has 11 followers and seems to be suggesting they're a "journalist" who's just about to turn 16.
  11. They've edited the YouTube file but clearly they've published the Tweet with the embedded link before they've noticed the typo. It's getting really bad though. Not to be that guy (I'm *totally* that guy) but on top of misspelling Souaré's name yesterday some of the grammar in the copy that's getting published on both socials and the official site is an absolute shambles. Lads, a Grammarly subscription is like, $15 a month. Maybe have a think about it eh?
  12. It depends how literally you want to take him and whether you take his "one or two" as a turn of phrase. What he said in his presser was:
  13. See, I’m sympathetic (in a “…but it might work for us” way) to the idea of having Moult as cover or an option off the bench. That was essentially Hammell’s rationale when he brought him back. I get that. I suppose something worth considering is that if we’re looking to replace Shields (as seems to be the plan) then given we already have Obika in the building there’s a chance we’re not actually in the market for someone who just offers cover or an option off the bench?
  14. Mind last season when Hammell said after the fact that <paraphrasing> we knew that we’d have to “manage” Moult and we wouldn’t be getting 90 mins out him </paraphrasing>? To have done that once is one thing, to do it a second time a year later after we’ve had to cancel his previous loan because he needed another operation would be daft.
  15. Having a quick Google search I see that Souaré was only at Morecambe on a short term deal. So it's not like those 7 appearances were over the course of a season for them. He signed for them on 17th March at which point they were already 3rd bottom of the league - 22nd of 24. https://www.morecambefc.com/news/2023/march/souare-joins-the-shrimps-for-remainder-of-campaign/ He featured in 7 of their remaining 9 games and seems to have picked up a knock in the 3-2 win against Charlton so I guess his release after their relegation was confirmed was fairly straightforward especially given the well documented financial issues. Taking a look at the Morecambe forum it seems like there are a couple of comments along the lines that from a supporters POV he's one that would have been worth keeping hold of but there was a general feeling that he wouldn't fancy sticking around to play in League 2. http://www.shrimpsvoices.co.uk/search.php?keywords=souare&sid=b1b577018015c6960c9d7985e22e71eb
  16. His loan was cut short in January https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2023/01/06/louis-moult-returns-to-burton-albion/ This was his 22/23 season.
  17. I hadn't looked but I'm immediately won over by this... (Genuinely, assuming they're not at it, he seems to be well liked by Palace fans)
