  1. Agree with this. Dykes can be excellent in the air but is infuriatingly inconsistent, both during the game and game to game. He has the odd game where he looks like a player then seems unable to replicate it . Must be a nightmare for the manager to be honest.
  2. Really!? Well that makes his heading even worse[emoji23]
  3. Not saying Sunderland didn’t have some ball skills but he was a passenger most days at that level and really unable to compete for 50:50 balls. I would happily bet money that he won less than 10 headers during his time at Queens. We used to have this thing where we could trace every goal Queens lost back to a missed challenge or error by him. Queens have a proud history of effective wee midfielders but he wasn’t one of them.
  4. There must be plenty Queens players still involved in the game. Tommy Sloan just won the junior cup again and Tam Bryce was managing in the juniors until fairly recently. Possibility of a legends game?
  5. Yep. But I remember being in a fairly small minority on the Mad website who thought he was worth hanging onto after that first season. I’m not often right but...
  6. I'm curious to know what gives you that impression. But, 12 Ruel Street, Sydney. Bring yer maw! I'm outside now with my sledgehammer.
  7. Anyone know where Swarley lives? The chances of him having an actual daughter seem remote and I'm keen to check his cellar....
  8. County get a decent amount of support from the wider Highland area including Inverness. There’s still a fair few folk up that way who don’t like what happened with the ICT merger.
  9. That explains why he was better than me at football then....
  10. ...or perhaps a more likely scenario given the adjusted list above is which former striker with a decent tally in the bank might come back in future to add to it?
  11. You sure about that? That would make him exactly a year older than me but he was in my year at school.
  12. Anyone know when the new kit is usually available in the shop? If there's 1700 names on it I'm guessing there will be a queue....
  13. That way when your shift gets cancelled at the last minute and instead of going to the pub you decide to fit the bathroom towel rail your wife was nagging after, and it takes you 2 hours traipsing round 3 different DIY shops to get all the kit including a half inch radiator allen key which must have some use for hydroponic cannabis growing or something as no bugger has any in stock, then you get home and cant find the drill, which takes two hours of tidying the loft and the shed to locate, then you decide you'd better put some dinner on for the wife coming home in a couple of hours, then it takes another hour or so to measure up and get the brackets in the right place, and you are dripping with sweat cos its bloody heavy and tiles are buggers to drill through, and right about 5 minutes before you are about to hang the blasted thing on the wall your wife saunters in from work and says..... "Oh have you just started?" Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!
  14. Nae chance. Always remember going to get my Passport to Europe book signed by the big man JT up the High Street. I asked him to sign it ..."Queens Legend"... he's writing this down... "Captain fantastic" . ..still head down writing away... "The one and only....." (He's still writing away but beaming like a lighthouse).... "Andy Aitken!" Head pops up I'll never forget the look - thought he was going to lamp me one, then he just burst out laughing and signed it anyway.
  15. Anytime I saw Oliver this season he was good enough to walk into our midfield.
  16. Not sure what I make of this season. On the face of it 6th seems not bad, but aside from the top 2 you have to feel 3rd to 7th were pretty close and we’ve shown we can compete (equal best away form) but have really struggled at home. It been a bit papered over though by our recent run when the season was effectively over. I tend to get to more away games than home as I’m not Dumfries based so haven’t had the worst of things I suspect. Seems very likely Naysmith will stay for next year now. Really hoping he’s learned from year 1 and can turn us into a consistent playoff contender.
  17. It’s clear from the crowds that I’m not the only one who feels it’s too little too late. The team has underperformed all season and it’s pretty clear poor tactics have been at least part of that. It’s a case of whether you feel Naysmith is finally getting it right so good news for next season or Naysmith finally got lucky and might get kept on anyway. It’s all a bit meh for me.
  18. Would it cover pre-existing conditions though - that seems to be relevant to at least some of Martin's problems.
  19. Congratulations for winning the Championship - definitely the best equipped side to deal with the SPL that I have seen this season. Bit gutted I wont have my home (away) games next year but there's always Morton..... ;-)
  20. I wasn’t there today. But I’m recalling the away game at ICT where Naysmiths instruction to the defence from the touch line was “Get f****ing organised!”. Now I’m no expert but that doesn’t sound like the most constructive advice you could give a failing defence.
  21. Agree the problem is the entire defence rather than just simply the keeper. However if you have a keeper who needs protection that’s not a great basis on which to push for the playoffs. FWIW I don’t think Leighfield is ready for the responsibility at this level but also don’t think I’ve seen anything in him that suggests he’s good enough for the Championship. Simply doesn’t look imposing enough. Montrose reserve keeper was better than either of ours when we played them.
