I wouldn't have let any club/team/company to operate that used any name, people or crests etc associated with or derived from the old incarnation for at least 25 years. The site should have been sold with provision made that it couldn't be used for sporting purposes. Proceeds to be paid directly to debts.

    So ‘ in the bin’

    🤣

  2. If Cowden are having to play a different style to avoid a pasting in these league cup games, it’s not really helping apart from fitness exercises.
Sooner games against teams they have a chance against come along the better.

I was at the game with my mate and the two things we talked about were the number of kids at the game and also the amount of club merchandise people were wearing, adults too.

Saw the windows and stuff all look pretty smart.

A few Arbroath fans came up and wished us well for the season so cheers for that.

I counted 10 Cowden fans including me.

Fair play to you heading up to that game. Away midweek with a 100 per cent chance of losing and a large chance of an absolute hiding

Why was Ramirez’s goal chalked off last night?

Kennedy interfering with the goalie was the only thing anyone could see in the replays. He was to the side of the keeper so feel it was a poor decision. He booked Vinny when he tried to get back up and play on for what would probably have been a goal as well. See losing Madden hasn’t helped our luck with the refs so far anyway. Got a lot of bad calls last season.
Not sure why the goal on Sunday was chalked off at Peterhead either. Was right in front of us and we were up on the wall so had a great view .

Jist nae getting the hyper critique - so far we’ve shown a lot mair incision in terms of oor general play. Defensively I think Stewart and Scales are an improved pairing and distribution is better. Aye, we’re a work in process and we could do wi a pickle o additions, but, I can see fae this team is going - much improved on last year.

Played 2 part timers, not in a place to judge yet. Everyone feeling the changes will be for the better but give it a few months then let’s see (hopefully!).

Things looked sexy at the start of the Glass reign but turned out the euro opponents couldn’t have been up to much.
Put it like this, got a lot more excitement at the start of last season. Hopefully the flair is yet to added to the team though.

Of all the Premiership teams, I think Aberdeen’s business looks the most impressive. Should give Hearts a real run for third this year.

You haven’t watched the 2 cup games then. So far not really that much better than last year. The 2 foreign attackers rumoured to be coming soon and the 3/4 still to be signed will need a good percentage of them to be quality before Aberdeen challenge for anything notable.

Don’t forget how poor Aberdeen currently are. It’s going to be another long season for them.

Aye I hear you, but you still have to have players who will try certain passes and build moves in a style.
Cowden haven’t for too long now.

  8. Watched Aberdeen v Dumbarton last night. Was 2-0 and should have been more but what struck me was how well at times Dumbarton used the ball. L2 team and have some good footballers. Been a while now since seen Cowden played anything like that level of football.

No complaints about the result and certainly nothing to be embarrassed about.

From what I've seen of Harry Osborne so far, he looks like a luxury player who may well be an asset in games against the so called weaker teams in the Lowland League but he was a passenger today. Doesn't look like he wants to put in the hard work. Players bursting a gut to get back and he's just strolling.

With the ball as his feet and some time, he looks decent enough but you wouldn't want him with you in a battle/scrap.

He might be alright. A blend of types of players are required to make a team.
I feel it’s a bit early to making judgements on players, a thing which all fitba fans do naturally and pretty quickly. It’s a young team and it’s all just been cobbled together so would like to think there would be a few months before judgements start.
some of these boys will improve as they get games and find how they can influence a game.

Obviously some will struggle but that’s life.

Apart from tomorrow hope Ryan Duncan gets his chance and takes it. After being with us last season could see he has great potential & showed up well for us at times. Thought if we could not get him back maybe a spell at Championship level might have been good for him afraid he may not get a lot of game time at the Dons "yet"

Fair comment, can’t develop and progress sitting on yer arse.

Also organising card machine to avoid cash only.

Remember all profits from club shop merchandise goes straight to the club.!

Maybe be good if the club communicated this on their website/ Facebook / twitter or whatever they use these days.

Just before kick off we’re 40/1 with bet365. Biggest price I’ve seen us for any  game.

On Thursday Airdrie were 4/9 which was printing money.

checked last night and they were down to 1/6.
A short term mistake by the bookies

  13. Went along with my 2 year old daughter. Lasted til half time which is all I expected  her to make to be honest.
Airdrie were getting stronger as the half wore on and Cowden were compressing more and more around their own goal.
Wasn’t as bad as I feared after reading comments through the week. The team will get better when the strikers are available and 1 or 2 more to come in so not all doom and gloom.

Got charged £20 at the gate though. Surely young kids are free or a couple of pounds? Bit of a crazy price

I've enjoyed a wind-up in here but that statement up on the Cowden site really seemed a bit of a mess. Alarm bells must be ringing, surely?

    • Beginning with a plethora of excuses as to why you're on your arse, to reveal a 30% budget cut? That's f**k all when dropping down. Costs are rising, but you also have the luxury of parachute payments. Sustainability is the issue - the reality is in this league, you can be competitive with a budget that big.

    • Your chairman seems highly respected amongst fans, but an appeal to avoid playing the blame game for sitting in a position he's ultimately accountable for is all a bit Boris. The rest of it came across as claptrap

    • Maurice Ross  What an absolute sham of a guy. Whatever your Chairman says, at least he seems a decent guy and wants the best. I'll genuinely worry for Cowdenbeath FC for as long as Ross is around. Yous better hope his innovative new 'team coordinator' role pays off cause f**k me is he out of his depth himself. Already made his excuses for the cup games. What a w**k.

What is it that brings you to write these posts about other clubs?

I couldn’t tell you much about Berwick at all except their surname is horrendous and they are English. Fingers crossed it’s written into the referendum to remove them from Scottish leagues.

I’m afraid my panic button has been pressed. We’re not in any position to play Airdrie on Saturday. Nowhere near it.

To be fair, I don’t think it was ever in the plan realistically to be fully ready come the league cup groups. Never going to qualify anyway and an entire squad to sign is a big ordeal that takes time.

  16. Too early to press the panic button. Still a long time to go in the transfer window and pre season means nothing except getting fit.
If going by budgets then Cowden must surely have 1 of the bigger budgets in the league, so can’t have any complaints there.
With the parachute payment, play off final gate and the league cup groups this season this is as good as it gets.
Can’t compete this season then it ain’t going to get any easier.
Pretty unlikely to get success signing an entire new team of youngsters so as Andy says definitely need a few who have played games in LL or above.
    Early days yet though.
