  1. Clancy had an absolute howler, there's no doubt about that. Not even that particular idiotic set of events though, just in general.

Killie looked fairly toothless going forward and County were happy to defend the balls into the box all afternoon. Bit of a worry there was no plan B.

We conceded a really soft goal, County missed a sitter and we missed a penalty, so I'm not sure we deserved anything from the game, despite the refereeing incompetence.

Hoping Dallas gives us another option running in behind because we can't break an organised low block down at the moment.

Not sure if you're having trouble following the simple point here, so let me make it easy for you.

    1) He was offered two bigger jobs.

    2) He knocked them back.

    3) The offers stopped coming.

    4) He ended up in the Scottish second tier.

    5) Other coaches will probably consider this experience when weighing up their own options.

Why are Killie fans so touchy at the thought that a guy coaching Aberdeen and being offered Rangers and Sunderland might not have imagined he'd be at Killie six years later? It's an obvious career downgrade. Where's the controversy here?

Anyway, the point is, this is the kind of thing that Robinson will consider, should the tramps offer him a job. If he knocks them back and St Mirren's form slumps a bit, his next offer might be Partick Thistle or an English League Two team.

    What are you on about?

I said I was surprised that he wasn't offered a bigger gig after his time at Aberdeen and you responded to say he was. I was simply asking which he was offered.

No need for you to get upset about it.

There were red flags about both jobs, but it remains unusual for someone to knock back not just one, but two opportunities to move to higher profile jobs. As for his salary, you don't know that, and neither do I. I've heard about a dozen 'ITK' reasons why McInnes didn't go to Rangers.

It's not bait at all. A fact you don't like is not 'bait'. He did get bigger gigs. He got two of them, knocked them back, and his career went backwards.

I think if McInnes had had a crystal ball to tell him that he'd be managing Kilmarnock in six years time when he was offered the Sunderland job, it may have had an impact on his thinking. Sunderland and Rangers are very big clubs. Kilmarnock are a small club. We can never know how it would have gone for him, but with hindsight his career has not progressed since letting those two jobs pass him by.

As I mentioned above, I'm pretty sure other coaches will have noted his trajectory.

Which bigger gigs was he offered after his time at Aberdeen?

It'd be interesting to know what was going on in his life in that spell at Aberdeen. He certainly bucked the footballing trend by seeming to knock back both Sunderland and Rangers. Must have had his reasons.

However, observers considering following his example will note that he's ended up in a relatively shite job. It seems he made two bad career calls in hindsight. Other managers will have noted that.

As a Killie fan, I'm not going to rise to this obvious bait, but to be honest I was surprised that he didn't get a bigger gig after his time at Aberdeen.

I suppose that's to our benefit now, but I think a top 6 finish for Killie this season will put his stock as high as it has been in his career in terms of opening doors for his next move.

He'd be mad to jump ship for Hibs at this point in time.

In a decade which saw us have some honking centre forwards such as a finished Garry O'Connor, Donovan Simmonds and a parade of other no marks, Dallas was a genuine contender for the worst of the lot.

Being absolutely dreadful when you're 19 and playing in the Championship after your only previous first team experience was in League Two doesn't mean you're not going to be a much better player by the time you're 24, but I'm still surprised he's managed as good a move as Kilmarnock. I'd have thought his record in the England would be enough for a Championship club to be interested, but it's a big gamble for a Premiership club.

He was signed on a 3 year contract by Barnsley this summer. He's only on loan at Killie for a season.

This basically for any manager.  McInnes or Robinson would take the HIbs job, or the Hearts job if that came up.  Bigger clubs, better dough for them, bigger budgets giving them more money to play with.

Though that thought process doesn't seem apply to our delusional weegie pals who think being "A Sellik/Rangurz man"  in their daft wee heids will stop someone going to a bigger league with  more pay to work with better players because Sellik/Rangurz ken.

Hasn't McInnes already debunked your theory by turning down the Rangers job while at Aberdeen?

I've said this before on here, but this specific person made me feel the need to mention it again. c***s that park in parent / child spaces without a child are utter c***s man, happens every time I'm at the shop. On Sunday this fat slob of a woman in her 40's, fake lips, jet black hair, a sort of modern-day Karen perhaps, lycra clad which was ironic given her BMI was dawdling around Asda and doing that leaning on the trolley push, like standing up right and doing it is too much for them (fucking hate that) anyway she constantly seems to be in my way, even looked me up and down when I had the audacity reach over and pick up a tin of beans that she seemed to have been mulling over for a ridiculously long time. Well that's the picture painted, I walked out and she's parked in the very closest parent and child bay, no kids and is kinda smirking at me with her big fat lips on her big fat face... I was like, the fucking hell is your deal hen?

Also a shoutout to the c***s that blocked a side road unloading logs while roadworks were going on, on the road adjacent, meaning every c**t turning down it had to try and 3-point turn with parked cars all along it and then try and re-join the traffic at the temp lights where obviously loads of people already waiting were really eager to let you in.

And I'll bet you pulled this 'fat slob' up and gave her a right good piece of your mind like the hard man you are and didn't just slink back to your car to greet about it online like a wimp.

If I had to break it down into the different types of heating replaced by the heat pumps I've fitted over the years, it's probably around 75% oil or LPG boilers, 20% electric and 5% mains gas.

With a customer yesterday who has had the heat pump running for about a month, and efficiency is right on 300%. They were slightly disappointed with this figure given it's a super-insulated new build, until I explained what @lichtgilphead has shown above that when it's mostly heating hot water the efficiency will suffer. I'd expect to see over 350% in that place after a full year.

I do think the obsession with shoehorning them into every UK home is a bit bonkers though. The government can't keep funding it forever and a huge chunk of our housing stock just isn't suitable.

But the same logic applies to a gas boiler, no? Ie. If it's a new build to current fabric standards, a gas boiler rarely does any heating and is better value for domestic hot water and therefore is cheaper to install and run than an air source heat pump (with no RHI subsidy).

Don't even get me started on exhaust air heat pumps...

With the newer systems like Toast, Square, etc, they offer reduced processing fees (normally 1.5-3%) in exchange for an automatically presented tip screen that the customer has to respond to. Of those responses that agree to a tip (preset percentages or custom), the processor keeps 10-20% (depends on agreement) and the rest is sent to the business in general revenue…for the business to handle or divy up as desired.

So the 10-20% is strictly of the “optional” tip revenues, not related to the processing fees.

This is exactly like a ChatGPT response. Lengthy and inaccurate. Are you a bot?

  10. 27 minutes ago, TxRover said:

The servers probably say chose “no tip” because 10-20% of the “tip” goes to the card processor and the rest goes to the establishment, who may or may not some of it out. The processor reduces its fees charged to the business to encourage this scam.

You think that 10-20% of card payments in restaurants go to the company administering the card payments?

Kin hell I paid less than that at Springsteen in Hyde park £6.90 a pint there

They take a 'charity donation' of £1 for the cup which you only pay for your first one if you bring the cup back to get them to fill it with more shitey beer at £7.50 a pint... Bargain.

I was in Edinburgh from Thu-Sat and it's already too busy in the royal mile. Will be ten times worse during this month.

And by f**k it's expensive for drink. I thought Aberdeen was bad.

I went to the food festival in George Square last Friday to see my other half doing a baking demonstration. Got a lukewarm pint of Moretti in a plastic cup while waiting for the demo to start... £8.50.

The more/better staff bit I don’t quite get; but the staff will I hope get the tip but that with the potential management deductions as referred to earlier and then also subject to PAYE/NIC deductions.

Call me subversive but me having paid the PAYE/NIC on that tip money already I don’t see the crime in trying to knock the £5/10/20 directly into their pockets.

And there’s also the immediate recognition (rather than me being lost into their end of month payslip) that we’re decent tippers that’ll (hopefully) get us a top table/service next time too.

I thought you were saying that businesses who automatically apply tips could attract more and/or better staff because they can generally guarantee a higher tip revenue.

Of course, tips are taxable income, so I have no issue whatsoever with those who earn them paying their way like everyone else.

  14. 1 hour ago, alta-pete said:

It’s pure profit. And allows them to pay the staff less as they can then say the staff tip rate is improved beyond leaving it to the vagaries of the customers who wouldn’t otherwise tip without being nudged/hoodwinked.

ETA: it’s not pure profit, it’s phree munny.

But the staff ultimately get the tips which are automatically added to every bill though, don't they? Are you saying it's a ploy to attract more/better staff?

  15. Why are so many places so keen on this service charge automatically added to bills? Can't get away from it in Edinburgh these days, and it's quickly becoming 12.5% rather than 10.

I get that it effectively increases their turnover by 10%, but surely also has a detrimental effect on profit margin?
