  1. Think you are right. This next bits could be a load of shite but i am led to believe that with a pre-contract agreement, terms are discussed but nothing actually finalised nor is a contract signed - this is only done once the player's registration is finished as his previous club. I also believe that this allows for either party to withdraw (with reason)- ie if the player fails a medical or the player feels they have been mislead by a club etc
  2. In hospitality as well, safe to say neither will be getting a game anytime soon!
  3. Cheers for all the advice re courses guys
  4. Wouldnt want to be paying much more than £30pr
  5. Me, my dad and brother are going away for a golfing week at the end of September. We are staying at Perth one night and we are loking for suggestions on what course to play in/around Perth on the Sunday. We are also looking for somewhere to stay/play around Carlise area?
  6. The one in the East Stand Extension was horrendous, couldnt hear feck all
  7. I am going with my Dad and brother on Sunday, looking forward to it
  8. Has anyone any experience with "The Golfers Club" insurance? I got a year's free insurance with golf care when i bought my clubs last year, but its about to expire, I was just going to renew with them, but a friend said i should switch to the Golfers Club Insurance as he thinks its the dogs b*llocks! Whats your thoughts?
  9. Another tip is to not adjust your aim to compensate as it opens your body up and makes your slice worse. I have going through the same problem but starting to sort it now. I've adjusted my hand positions (mostly making sure by right hand is more straight and not open) and trying not to adjust my stance to compensate and its starting to pay off
  10. Im a bit the same, i hardly ever post on OTB now. I got bored of the "happy-clappers" as i like to call them - you say anything negative at all and you are ripped to shreads for it. Thankfully, as you say, most of the guys who are switched on and fairly balances post on here now so its all good
  11. Im the same. Since i started again, my putting has been storming, mostly never more than two putting. And the past couple of round my short games has been hitting the mark. Like you I just need some consistency off the tee.
  12. Haha couldn't have put it any better! Yeah, think i'm going to go ahead and book a couple of lessons. I think if i can sort by drives, i could get my handicap down pretty quickly
  13. Results were posted last night and won it by 2 strokes! Out on Saturday for a 2 man scramble with the old man - hopefully continue the good golf. As a treat, and since i've been looking for a new one, i ordered a Odyssey Golf Metal X 2 Ball Putter! Cant wait to get it out on the course. Been having problems with my driving, slice it every time, and despite getting distance with it, im losing the guts of 60yrds with the slice. Been thinking about getting a couple of lessons with the local Pro to see if i can fix it - what do yous think?
  14. Hadn't played for 5 years, but this year i started playing again. Wasnt planning joining anywhere in particular, or getting a handicap (i just wanted to enjoy playing again - which i am) but ended up joining my old course, Rothes (par 68) and putting in my handicap cards, where i got an expected 28. Havent been playing overly well, and up until today, hadnt broke 100. Played my second competition today, June Medal, and finished with 93, nett 65, which i was delighted with - will find out tomorrow the full list of scores, but in with a good chance of winning! Went out in 50 and came in with a 43. After hitting a 7 and 9 on the opening holes, i thought it was going to be a day of high scores, but knuckled down and got some consistency! Really chuffed with some of my shots, and my short game and putting was at its best.
  15. Thanks! Will look into La Manga - sun and golf is what we are looking at - although im thinking of going to Ireland at some point so good to know about Donegal too!
  16. Me and my brother fancy going abroad for a week to play some golf. Anyone have any recommendations for where to go, what companies to use etc
  17. Ah worked out who you are - were you also one of two stags who were downing their pints with the masks on? I also now know who dalrystag/slateforstag is - thanks for the punch in the nose and whacks on back of legs when standing on my seat during celebrations haha
  18. Nazareth on 11 March at the Ironworks, Inverness. Cant wait!
  19. Gig of my life. Completely agree with everything said so far about it. The place was packed and the atmosphere was excellent, the place was bouncing. Great sets from both support acts, especially Against Me, had never heard of them and when they came on i thought hmm dont think this is gonna be my type of music but they blew me away! Frank's set was just superb, faultless (even if he did call his keyboard player by the drummer's name!) They crowd were on great form and really contributed to a great gig. "Someone to Love" was a great addition to the set and the place exploded with it. Cant wait for the next one!
  20. Completely agree, think this is the 7th time i'll see him and he just keeps getting better and better!
  21. Tommy Reilly and Pearl and the Puppets (solo) on Thursday in Inverness and then Frank Turner on Friday in Glasgow. Super stoked for these, shame i have a work meeting in Edinburgh on Friday first though!
  22. i was too a bit - i think they left it too open. cant wait for series 2!
  23. its still early yet so dont worry lad haha what a legend, think im friends with him on facebook sorry if i came across arsey! tbh i doubt we would get more than 40-50k for him if he were to be sold, he was showing potential, but last season seemed to have put a few people off, peter houston for example
