Samuel is a good pest, and teams including us have had success with that type of player at this level. We have too many options of strikers that a good at 'the other things' without anyone getting enough goals. And if we're looking to bring in another of that type keeping kane on would be preferable. spfl rules explicitly ban it. SFA and wosfl don't state and looking at the darvel post it seems suggested the league allow it. I think it raises an interesting question if an spfl club loan to to a non spfl club what would be the deal if they met in the scottish cup.

If Airdrie don't go up but McCabe has them performing at a similar level next season he'll be at a premiership club before the season is finished. This 'he'll not go to a club who won't give him time' is nonsense. If he suspects a club may be trigger happy all he'll do is make sure he contractedly protected . Lets say he goes to dundee united as an example, has them 12th and 6 points off 11th and gets sacked. In that scenario, he walks into the next championship job with premiership experience , his bank balance boosted and only minimally harmed reputation. Fans of all clubs state this for youth players, but the big thing is how do you prove your player is good enough to go make a difference at a lower level? Loanee clubs aren't interested in potential, they want someone who is going to come in and do a job straight off the bat. Ok he wasn't training with Elgin which makes things harder but Tod couldn't prove himself as worthy of starting spot at a poorly performing side last year as an example. Do we think he or others would walk into a league 1 club and find get 30+ starts? Could being the big word here, as it is with every single youth player, the best youth coaches and scouts in the world are utterly terrible and I can't emphasise that enough at identifying who will go on to make it, I'm not betting my chances as a fan at being better than that.
