  1. Tbf it should be a winger or a central midfielder who is covering that space on the left (when the left back has gone forward). It shouldn't be a centre half imo. Again, that's Bullen and his coaching. Your fullbacks pushing forward if part of the plan you should be able to cover the gaps. The players have no idea who's meant to be where. That's evident by the space Raith were allowed consistently in and around our box throughout the game.
  2. Brian 'Hollywood pass' Gilmour. I have fond memories of those balls he played into the corners. When we had Preston & Moore upfront it actually worked quite well. The trouble was, he kept playing those passes when we didn't have anyone who could run onto them!
  3. That would be one hell of a redemption arc in Reading's case. On a par with McGinty. I'm not convinced Reading has improved at all. He's no longer the weakest link in the team so he doesn't get targeted to the same degree. Any team that does the slightest bit of oppo research realises that Nicholas McAllister is the weak link and looks to exploit it. That used to be Reading. He's not turned into a poundland Maldini. He's just not been asked as many questions at the minute so isn't found wanting as often. He's certainly not worthy of a contract renewal but knowing our recruitment they might be worried we'd sign worse so better to tie him down now.
  4. I talked about emptying Reading at the end of the season and you talked about how he hasn't been that bad this season. This season is now a write off. My broad point is that he's not good enough for a top four Championship team. If that's where we aspire to be we need to sign better players.
  5. Top notch. An exemplar for us to follow, take note Mr Mathie...
  6. I find it incredible that anyone thinks Reading is part of the solution. He's better than last season but then so was a traffic cone. Edit - he's not the worst. Other than Chalmers, Murphy, Albinson & Dowds the rest of the team resembles relegation fodder.
  7. The Reading experiment is over, hopefully he is punted into the sea at seasons end. He's just not good enough. He's been better compared to last season but he still can't stop a cross, track a runner or get forward. I also think teams are targeting the opposite flank because McAllister is even worse which is making Reading look better as well. Murphy in front of Reading helps too tbf.
  8. As I said earlier, a result like yesterday wouldn't be so bad if we weren't in the position we're in and we had more than 4 league wins at Somerset in 2023. As it is, it's taking Bullen far too long to get a tune out of these players. As someone else highlighted, Raith played a central midfielder at centre half and you wouldn't have known. That's on us, we should have been targeting him. My real fear is that a manager change won't necessarily turn this around. Its going to be a tough season either way. I can understand why a number of fans aren't going. I've stopped going to away games and midweek home games. It's pretty soul destroying. You simply can't give teams a two goal lead and expect to win association football matches.
  9. I wondered why Brown was playing at centre half!!! I was saying to my brother, that's a central midfielder they are playing at the back. It's not quite Stevo in nets but it should have been a weakness for us to exploit!
  10. Amartey has definitely shat in Bullen's shoe. Bullen's refusal to play him is just bizarre.
  11. We're talking about home league wins, no? Including away games it's more like 8 wins in 2023 (I think...).
  12. It's only 4 league games: Hamilton on 7th Jan Cove on 24th March Raith on 29th April ICT on 12th August We beat ICT away in May, I think you're maybe counting that?
  13. True. I still think if we get a doing from Airdrie he will be emptied as it gives the club a bit of time to get their act together. Even 4 points is in the next two would only give us 10 points from the first quarter which is probably 8th place form (at best).
  14. I think its understandable. With that back line in front of him he's probably thinking if any one of them take a touch and give me an awful back pass I'll be in trouble so he tries to be sweeper keeper. He's not Neuer though.
  15. Anyone else think today's attendance was a bit crap? It was even lower than the ICT home game.
  16. A couple of positives: Big Dowds looks a handful. He had a very nice finish. Chalmers corners are a real weapon.
  17. Our defence is hopeless and hapless in equal measure. Fucking brutal and made of absolute jelly. Its not like we were under masses of pressure today. In the first half, Raith were stronger and faster. They moved the ball about well. The first one, Easton has too much space and hits a very nice shot into the corner. The second followed within 3 mins and the defending was like keystone cops. Everyone of the backline was culpable. At the other end we did create chances and on another day we might have got something out of the game. That being said, given where we are it's not good enough. In 2023 we've won 4 home league games.
  18. Ehhhh... there are two gates at the SRE. The one closer to away fans was open so if that's the reasoning it seems counter intuitive.
  19. I was going to post something similar. It was the same at the last home game. The big gate is closed over. I blame Provan. Its always Provan...
