  1. Partick Thistle thread for this pish. You're ruining the fun for fans from other teams suggesting absolute jobbers to take over and watching the reactions.
  2. I thought you stopped making predictions. Have you got one right yet?
  3. Who are Partick after? Is Neilsen confirmed at Dundee United? I'd imagine both clubs are in for him like a bald man fighting over a comb. I hope McCall stays and going on what hes said I think he will. However, if he were to leave for anyone it would be Partick. Squeaky bum time for us as Sir Alex would say.
  4. I think you can be thankful to the Chairman for being a good custodian but critical of his decision making. The views aren't mutually exclusive! When Roberts contract was renewed it was the worst I have ever felt as an Ayr fan. I didn't renew my season ticket and I only attended when I felt like it. Call me a bad fan if you want? But getting drubbed by diddies week on week and watching a diddy who wasn't up to it in the dugout with an owner who didn't care (how it seemed!) was not for me. I felt the only way I could influence change was to vote with my feet. I returned for home and away games as soon as McCall was appointed and renewed my season ticket. It's been great since! I have a great deal of sympathy for those who felt their only recourse was to vote with their feet. I came back but I could have very easily ended up like mccurdieboy. What he said!
  5. You made a reasoned argument to this point and in principle I agree with you. However, having a pop at lapsed fans isn't going to bring them back either!
  6. The Cameron's have run the club since 2003. For the statos, our positions are as follows in that time: 2003-04 9th Division 1/Championship 2004-05 8th Division 2/League One 2005-06 6th Division 2/League One 2006-07 5th Division 2/League One 2007-08 7th Division 2/League One 2008-09 2nd Division 2/League One 2009-10 10th Division 1/Championship 2010-11 2nd Division 2/League One 2011-12 9th Division 1/Championship 2012-13 7th Division 2/League One 2013-14 4th Division 2/League One 2014-15 8th Division 2/League One 2015-16 2nd Division 2/League One 2016-17 10th Division 1/Championship 2017-18 1st Division 2/League One In summary: 5/16 years in the Championship (including this one) An average position of 26th or 4th in League One We're definitely overachieving right now but I would argue we've underachieved in the previous 15 years so we're due it.
  7. I agree and I think it will come, there are a lot of lapsed fans and those who became disenchanted with the board. Some we'll win back easily some it will be harder. If we keep this going (ie. Top 4), I firmly believe we'll edge towards 3k home fans (say 2.8k).
  8. Hence the due diligence, it shouldn't have come from left field. I do accept HMRC aren't easy to deal with though. I don't disagree, Ronnie & Jimmy did a great job but it cut off a vital revenue stream for the club where we got a fixed amount instead of the profits. Would the club have been able to run either better at the time? I don't know. In any case, I wasn't wishing to start a debate on the Chairman but was highlighting how we fans can be fickle and giving a gentle reminder of some of his decision making (when asked) and I didn't even mention Heathfield or supporter engagement! For the record, I didn't think Barr was a good chairman for all the investment there was no legacy. Maybe I'm just a tough man to please... although Jobby and the boys are keeping me happy!
  9. Seriously? For a start: Not doing his due diligence and missing a bill from the tax man when he took us over. Might have been his dad tbf. Leading to austerity and jobbers from the juniors playing for us and managing us. Renewing Mark Roberts contract when it was clear he was out of his depth. Outsourcing the club shop and hospitality. I could go on... As I said, I commend him for keeping us going and out of the hands of charlatans. However, his decision making has always been short term and the club has suffered because of it.
  10. There is no doubt Lachlan has been a good custodian in that he has stopped us falling into the hands of charlatans. That can't be disputed. However, some of his decision making has been horrific since he owned us and pushed us backwards. He was rightly criticised by myself and others. It's all water under the bridge now, given how improved we seem to be on and off the pitch. It is ironic how fickle us football fans are though!
  11. What length is the gaffer's contract? Is he still on a year to year?
  12. Partick Thistle are at home to Dundee United next saturday for some reason. No other Championship games though.
  13. From Partick website: "An interim management team of Gerry and Head of the Youth Academy, Scott Allison, will take charge of the team for Saturday’s game and until an appointment has been made."
  14. True, I've been impressed at how we've come back from defeat. Especially after getting pumped by Queens then being 2 nil down to Falkirk at HT and then winning that game. This team has a lot of heart. Inevitably we'll go on a bad run at some point but I'm confident this team will bounce back. As for 8th place, I'm starting to aspire for more.
  15. Pictorial proof required me thinks. Nah, why don't we just steal Raith's song for McGlynn. "Hes got no hair we don't care!" On second thoughts, I'm with the crowdfunder.
  16. BBC article on Dobbie (Stephen Dobbie: Queen of the South striker is Europe's most prolific marksman) good interview with him too and chat from Rodgers & Naysmith. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45630356 Some player!
  17. I would have left early if it hadn't been for the Scottish Constabulary locking us in the SRE. I forgot about that, utter lunacy from the cops!
  18. I agree, but there will come a point (after 9 games imo) we need to re-evaluate the aim.
