  1. You've got a year to train haha i'm just getting started as UTN will tell you I couldn't keep up with him on the 2 bridges the first time I done it. Like I said it was thanks to a tail wind i got my speed up.I'm normally about 17-18mph on my commute to work comfortable. A P&B social cycling team would be good, any budding kit designers out there? a few rides I want to try next year, the E-tap caladonia and the highland perth 100 both look very good! I noticed lots of Johnson wheelers were there yesterday and a fair few guys with tunnocks tea cake jerseys on! One of my mates said there was a lassies on the lithgie cobbles "sparked out!" I hope she is ok he thinks there were teeth missing.
  2. I Done the P4S challenge route yesterday, I can't give an acurate time but it was around 2hours 20mins cycling (i think) if I have added my times from my cycling computer which kept resetting itself when I stopped to wait on my pal to catch up with me. I really enjoyed my day and managed to cycle at abour 23/24 mph on the flats between airdri and the bridge in at linlithgow thanks to a tail wind! I was pleasant to all on my way past making sure they knew I was about to pass and giving all the wee ones encouragement. One thing I noticed is how many people can't cycle in a straight line and also people who don't check over there shoulder before pulling out to pass slower cyclists. I wish I had done the sportive ride I felt I had some left in when I finished. I would definetly be up for a P&B sportive ride next year, I think Foska do a bovril top aswell Edit- had a look on the foska website and no bovril cycling tops Although they do custom make jerseys
  3. Haha well i'm going to get myself a a cyclocross for the winter i'm thinking about the Giant TCX 2 there are a few vairiations so i'll see what suits me best keeping the babe for the sunny days, the TCX or what I get will be my dirty bitch
  4. ahh well it may well be the R1 folding tyre i have i don't think I bought the top of the range ones. but i'm impressed wit the schawlbe so may purchase a few new flavours for different seasons, I got a Yellow one for the fron and white for the back as thats how my bike's frame looks haha Pimped
  5. Its Ultremo's that are on actually, Thinking about it! the folding tyres, I spent about 2 weeks deciding what to go for and it was R1 that popped into my head but that was wrong. I'll try a different brand of inner and see if it makes a difference.
  6. yeah she was in overnight storage, you can imagine how gutted I was when I took my babe out the garage to see one of her implants had deflated. The R1's say they can take up to 140psi the valves were ok on the tube but the tube was blown to bits, I've noticed a big difference when cycling with the R1's they are faster, better roll and grip. I've only done about 50miles since I changed them and the front went after 40 and the back after the 50 mark. I was mega careful putting them on and think if I pinched the tube it would have went alot earlier than now, I'm trying some lightweight tubes as they are easier to carry around I hope they do the trick now.
  7. I've had two punctures in two nights one front and one back, while the bike has been in my shed or in my G/f garge. I thought the first one was just bad luck but now there are two i'm beggining to wonder. I just fitted schwalbe R1 folding tyres and use continental tubes (well not anymore) the tyres say they can take up to 145psi, I had them up at about 125psi I was sure the tubes could have taken this as thats what they were at when my original Kendal tyres were on it. On the plus side I got my stuff in for PFS, think i'll stop at lithgie for the free food and then right to the finish, maybe even cycle home to Bonnybridge if its a decent day and i'm feeling ok after the 47.3 miles Edit - maybe the numbers are in alphabetical order?
  8. I've not recieved my pack either have the other 3 people i've registered with! beginning to worry that we'll be stuck trying to get it all sorted while people pedal off in the distance! I will not be amused if i'm stuck at the start due to there pish organisation
  9. 23 and 12st 13, I was 14st in june then started watching what I was eating and getting back into exercise, i'm aiming to get down to racing snake weight haha i'm only 5'7 so my small framed bike is at its weight limit haha
  10. Cycled to work tonight just under 11miles in 30mins av on the comp was 18.7 was pretty chuffed with that, usually i'm about 36 mins but the old supervisor gave a lesson on his cycling days so I pulled the finger out hahaha! UTN i didn't fancy it on Tueday it thought i'd crash and take out a fair few back markers in the process trying to go round a bend haha
  11. I'm having the same problem with transport for PFS, Myself and 2 possibly 3 others are doing the 51mile, were just new so starting with the easy(errr ) route. My mum told me the other night that my uncle was one of the founder members of Falkirk BC. Cyclings in the blood, shame it took me till I was 23 to be told this haha
  12. That was ment to Quote an earlier post by UTN oh thats a fair hill at the other side of that! I reckon i'll be ok the mora if its a decent pace its to rain all day though
  13. haha that mean's i'll be in the front pack i'm hoping for good weather too, where do you tend to go on saturdays.
  14. The Cube UTN is sporting is an awsome piece of gear. First night at a cycle club on tuesday and I must say it was awsome! bought a tight jersey with the goal of it fitting me rather than it being painted on. will be back on saturday and will try and keep up with the faster group this time. I'm ashamed to say I got up to cycle to work this morning and it looked like the heavens were about to open so I had an extra 20mins in bed now I'm not angry with myself i'm just disapointed today hasn't been that bad.
  15. I must add that I take about 45 to get home, its slightly more of an incline and after a 12 hour shift my wee legs are buggered. I just got a cateye wireless computer thingy on my bike and i'm averaging about 16miles per hour. for the journey from work and back. And I think its more like 11miles to get to work. so not as fast as I made out. I'm deffo doing the 50 mile pedal for scotland but will be going for a wee jaunt rather than a quick time
  16. Just got clipless pedals at the weekend and after falling over in my garden trying to clip in and out I managed to cycle to work and back without falling off, I'm gearing up for this 50mile pedal for scotland with my pal, I reckon I could do the 100 miles but I want to enjoy it not kill myself, got to work in 35 minutes not bad for 11 1/2 miles. I was hooked on Le Tour these guys are proper athletes. Any one know any decent routes in the Falkirk area some of the roads are terrible here? Just gone mad and got myself an HTC Highroad Jersey, Gloves and Socks so if you see me out say hello haha. I'm on a Giant Defy 2. White/Black/Yellow.
  17. i've got myself a park run card for this reason, I play football on a saturday but hopefully get along to a few of them in the preseason then attempt both when i'm benchwarming lol! I signed up to the glasgow river rat race, 10k its a new race this year and looks pretty decent fun!
  18. thats me sorted for browsing for the rest of my nightshift haha. hope i don't spend to much
  19. No I haven't had a packet for years though usually go down to the wee shop in Stenhousemuir that still does them in mixups where you can get the traditional ones. 6 years on I'm still disapointed
  20. It really disapoints me that they have changed the black sport mixture to blackcurrent in the packets
  21. Suggest she goes and gets sterilised, and drop her poor wee one off at social services on the way
  22. Downloaded the nike GPS app for my iphone (free), its a great wee boost when your blowing out your brown orrafice and the women with the strangly no bad voice at this point saying your almost done keep it up, think its in the last 500m or so for a 5k run not sure about others. has anybody done the mens health survival of the fittest, tough guy down in wolverhampton or the mighty deerstalker in peebles? do they know any other events along those lines that I could try my hand at? I've done all three tough guy was my favorite but cost the most, the deerstalker was the most challenging and the MH run was the best value for money.
  23. there is a W33 NOB around the falkirk/grangemouth area. passed it a few times going to my work, My ex GF has a private plate on her mini its like a warning becon so they can have there uses. I've thought about purchasing one but nothing has stuck out for me yet
