  1. That really is a poor effort to start the year with
  2. Although if his loan officially doesn't end til the 4th (I haven't checked) then surely Queens can't announce him as signing until Wednesday?
  3. Better use of the budget if he were to go without any kind of pay off? Which isn't too likely to happen.
  4. Another thing I really don't see happening is Mark Brown leaving the club. Regardless of the fact he is still contracted until the end of the season and he will be happy to just receive a wage for that. The fact he is in our matchday squad right now suggests we maybe best hold onto him. I know it is down to Ewings being injured but if this back injury could flare up again at any point then we don't want to be left with no sub 'keeper.
  5. Really? He has been one of the most inconsistent.
  6. Once again, I completely agree. Was just about to post more or less this. He has been good but it is as important we don't over estimate how much he has done. I don't deny I would rather keep him, but I also feel he wouldn't be as great a loss as S08 thinks he would. He has had some stinking games this season as well. Didn't know anything about wages but maybe it wouldn't be the worst to replace one player with two at this point.
  7. Doesn't really make too much difference surely if he goes to Queens? He will play against the same opponents and I'd have thought Celtic would be happier when they can see him in training and stuff. As I said before, I don't think he is even close to being irreplaceable, as good as he has been.
  8. This. When we didn't manage to sign Lindsay this pre season most folk were starting to worry and were really gutted. But I basically said the above. There are a lot of these kinds of players in premier league team squads. Especially at the likes of Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen etc... Teams with an abundance of good midfield players. I would be confident we could get a like for like replacement. Is it possible that maybe we won't be retaining Harvie? So maybe Stevie is looking to bring in a defensive kid so Sparky is available to go back into the defense. Final point, I'm also not that concerned by that kind of storyline because I don't particularly think that Joe has been playing defensively in recent weeks. He has quite often been our furthest forward player actually.
  9. Every week I catch up on a lot of the highlights from games in our league and every week I think the same things when I watch Ayr playing. Firstly, it would be great to play the way they do. tracking teams and creating chances. Getting men forward and into the opposition box. Secondly, and something I think which contributes very highly to the first point, Gary Harkins is exactly the kind of player we lack. Someone to link everything when the ball goes from back to front. He is such a top players and I reckon they would be struggling without him. Here's hoping we can find someone like that in January. Ready earlier someone saying about we can only think back to guys like Kane but his first spell was when he joined in the January window. Always young players out there who need game time. Just need to find the right one(s) for us.
  10. Regardless of him being our top scorer Garry isn't always the best option up front. I blame the manager for taking off Thommo in what was one of his only half decent games. Things were working with him up front and when the manager changed things, it stopped working.
  11. The thing is we have looked bad in so many games this year but we have also looked decent in others. Hibs, Morton (a) and Raith to name a few. We are inconsistent and if we could sort that out at the same time as turning the good performances into better results through a bit of cutting edge then we will be fine. The problem is that we struggle with anything in the final third of the pitch, imo.
  12. Yep my thinking too! Because we will fork out what would be a decent amount of money to pay off the current management team and then further money in compensation for a manager who is only a matter of weeks into his current job with a full time side.
  13. Colin Nish has a point to prove at Dumbarton...
  14. Another small point, do Bonnyrigg not play Hibs at home rather than at Easter Road? See it's been altered now
  15. Said to my brother at the end of the match the same thing. I have supported Aitken more than most and actually thought we have been as I had expected most of the season. But tonight I felt was the end of the line. Stevie appears to have no way back from here. That being said, if he had come out and said that in his interview after the first game then maybe the players wouldn't have played that way tonight. ETA: I actually thought we were far better tonight than we were in the first game.
  16. Jack Crawford saying on twitter that Stevie will take time to think about his position after the result tonight? Note: I could have read that wrong. I really don't use twitter other than for updates on games I can't make it to...
  17. I've been one of the most patient fans but that is completely Aitken's fault tonight. Taking off our only option up top which was working well enough to move 2 players into different positions and ending up with the same formation and 11 (Joe and Stevo switched) which never worked at all in the first game against Bonnyrigg. Pettigrew is worse than James Creaney too...
  18. Funnily enough, the first thing I thought was that we could do with someone with finishing like Prunts or Dargo in those games! The other thing I enjoyed was Colin Cameron giving it big licks about Airdrie and how Dumbarton's game plan wasn't working, only for us to score before he had finished the sentence.
  19. Did someone you know play for one of the teams or something?
  20. I don't want us to sack Stevie. It isn't going well, but we are currently in the position about 99% of our fans had aspired to be in come the end of the season. The same argument could be argued about the results. Yes we are being propped up by a couple of pretty dross sides below us, but again the results have been good enough so far to keep us out of the relegation and play off positions. I don't argue the fans are turning but don't think most of the fans want him gone. I also don't think it would make much of a difference if we got rid of him, mainly as there are no other candidates out there who I'd want in.
  21. Not sure what the chances would be. But I'd say the fans are long overdue a meet the manager event. I'm sure plenty of folk have questions they would like to ask Stevie. I reckon it would be helpful in allowing Stevie to give some explanation as to what he plans tactically before matches amongst other things. My feeling is that Stevie wouldn't agree to it because there's a chance he'd get an absolute roasting from some of our fans. But I think it could be an opportunity for the fans and manager to try unite as things are getting difficult. That all being said, talk of us sacking Stevie makes no difference. I think it is ridiculous to suggest we should have funds aside in case we need to sack a manager. We also shouldn't expect him to walk away from a contract which ensures he has a wage until the end of the season.
  22. To be fair, Stevo had been pretty poor for the last couple of games and I don't think we can say Stanton is 'decent' when most of us have seen him in 1 1/2 games.
  23. You're saying that Aitken and Faz don't take their job seriously??
  24. Wow. There's a few losing the plot tonight... I didn't realise we were all but relegated after today's result.
  25. I guess that would be an alternative. Might also have a chance of winning the 50/50 since I could swear they don't even put the tickets sold in the car park into the draw
