  1. Pretty sure that may be the water bottles or the likes..?
  2. Inconsistent sums him up best. He looked disinterested at times and every time he had a decent game he would follow it up with a poor one. His delivery was very good though. Better than anyone we had in the team last year I'd say. He may have matured a bit and could potentially be a decent addition. Wouldn't be adverse to giving him a chance.
  3. Must be remembered that he didn't play for Dumbarton with the exception of a couple of friendlies.
  4. If Stevie can help him learn how to finish he'll be a top signing. Always a player who looked very dangerous against us, but more often than not he would make a mess of finishing off what was usually a very good run. That being said, I am happy with the signing as he offers us some genuine pace and something completely different. Hopefully the PT training will help keep him injury free too...
  5. Ouch? I'd be more concerned if teams we will be competing with were significantly improving. I understand that the likes of Queens, Dunfermline and Morton are improving. But realistically we have to look at Brechin and Livingston. Both, in my opinion, haven't made any signings that worry me. Livingston may well be a better proposition than last time they were in the league, but they have basically the same squad so will still need to improve plenty. Brechin are a team who just made it through the play offs - on merit of course! But I am still quietly confident that we will be a more attractive team for players of a better standard who won't get a full time gig.
  6. Why is everyone making a big deal about getting players in before presenting season starts? It makes absolutely no difference to anyone whether they sign the day before presenting season or yesterday. Any footballer id responsible for their own fitness through the close season and it won't make a difference if they sign today or on the day we start training. It is a bit boring waiting for signings but I'm not worried yet, because I trust the management team.
  7. Notice the club congratulating Craig McEwan on the cup win on the site. Wasn't a bad player back when he was with us. On a slightly different note, did he not get caught out for some dodgy scheme when he was working at a college a couple of years back?
  8. Stevie comes across very well in that I'd say. Handles all the questions in a positive and professional manner. Especially when someone them are ones he maybe didn't want to be asked. Well done to Sonstv again for another decent interview.
  9. I remember I got the train up with my brother and a couple of mates. That was some performance that day. 2 goals and 2 assists for Dobbie if I remember right. Must have been 23rd?? December 2006. One of his last performances with us too as he moved on to Queens in the January. ETA - got most of the details right. Have a look at the team that day...
  10. Have to agree! SD and Queens in general I really like, but Naysmith is a w****r
  11. Don't wish to be too negative about things, but is anyone else concerned that Nade could end up going the way he did with Stranraer last year, this season? I know he is an injury concern at all times, but after the natural lift of him coming in and scoring a few important goals, he didn't do much and actually looked really unfit. I hope a good preseason helps him get fit again, but I don't think it was unrealistic to expect he could have gotten fit from when he signed to the end of the season with all the football he was playing. Still happy to have him signed up of course. Heard that Bob McHugh has been released, surprisingly in my opinion. But he will go to Morton or a team of that kind of size unfortunately.
  12. I think it's a decent signing in league 1. But on that point I would say, he couldn't get a game in midfield for Dunfermline for most of the season. He really only played RB for them because they didn't have any decent option there and he was the captain. As I say, a good player who I'd happily have seen back at Sons but I also think a player who isn't as influential as he once was. I know, I know... He will win player of the year next year now
  13. Be an absolute delight to find out that all the "fuss" between Aldo and Stevie was premeditated and that he has actually signed a 2 year deal eh? Surely it must be a "new" signing in reality?
  14. I've been peeping around the forum for the last couple of days holding back on telling folk to calm down. The Facebook ones have been my favourite really. Some of the doom and gloom stuff has been quite entertaining to read.
  15. 2 year deal is nice. Now if only some of our better players were looking for 2 year deals also... Oh wait
  16. Slightly picky, but Nuttal was brought in on an emergency deal because Garry was suspended and Nade was unavailable so we had Thommo (who had been playing on the wing for months prior) as our only striking option. Like everyone else, expected but still gutting the moment I actually clicked the link and seen the names on the list. Inside I kinda hoped Stevie would give Garry pretty season to sort himself out physically and mentally. But the gaffer is entitled to make decisions like that, as long as he is going to commit to us.
  17. Think this is down to mainly a couple of things. The fact we have been the highest finishing part time side for a few years now, really does help. If players are happy playing part time but want to play at the highest level possible, then we look the best option. Also, being at this level a few years have increased our budget from when we were in the 2 leagues below us for a number of years. So let's be honest, money talks. The final thing I think that attracts players to us is that we have been a decent stepping stone for a number of player who are on their way (or looking to progress to) full time football. Even this year already we have seen Andy Stirling and Robert Thomson move on to FT sides so if players are looking to go that way, we are a very decent option to prove themselves at a decent level and with a shop window of FT sides in opposition all season too. Final point, hand off Martin, Buchanan and Carswell please. And everyone else for that matter
  18. I may be wrong, but I would be very surprised if he went to Ayr United. Would be a step back as far as I see it. I also wouldn't imagine he will be agreeing terms to go to Raith until they know what league they will be playing in next year. Of course, they could just have offered terms and said, "Stevie we offer you £xxxx and the offer is exactly the same regardless of what league we are in next year." In which case he may fancy bringing them up if they go down or keeping them up next year ( either of which you would expect are realistic).
  19. Surprised about Gibson. Seemed settled enough there and I know he didn't score as many this year but I'm sure he got quite a few assists.
  20. Think he's probably quite similar to Buchanan. Wouldn't mind us taking him if Bucky decides he fancies FT football. Although my preference would be to keep what we have.
