  1. What is the probelm with Spartans? I was along at their new ground last week and they have excellent facilities. I also know a couple of people involved with them and they are decent people too. As for Livi, I feel for their supporters. A lot of teams may have the odd bad regime now and again, but manage to get shot of them. Sadly for Livi, the ones that have followed all seemed to be worse than the previous mob. I hope they can do something, although like many folk, I'm not sure what can be done to salvage things this time. I wouldn't be surprised if they were thrown out the league to be honest, given this is the second time they have gone into administration. One thing is for sure though. I'll not be dancing on their grave.
  2. Ah, I see. That explains why he seemed to be organising everyone. I thought accies had a few decent players on show. The big centre half that seemed to win everything in the air, he looks pretty good and the young no 4, that went off at half time, he looked okay as well.
  3. Who was your number 8? I'm sure he was a trialist, I recognise the face but couldn't put a name to him.
  4. It's hard to argue with that. Although, Step Out gives it a good run for its money.
  5. I'm not really a blur fan, but this is what I'm listening to at the moment. A quality tune.
  6. I am currently listening to a very mellow version of Fade Away.
  7. Having read the thread on Livilions, I feel really sorry for them. What is it about a club that attracts idiots like Massone? I mean what's really in it for him? Hopefully he will go so sooner rather than later and the fans can try and salvage the club.
  8. Will there be a hat-trick of merged Livi threads for StaggiePerth? Edited to add: Yes it is! Will it be a warning or a ban though?
  9. Surely you should have been laughing all the way to the 'Livingston' thread with this breaking news?
  10. I just downloaded the KLF; Chill Out Album. I completely forgot about this album until the other night, but it's absolute class. Perhaps a bit early in the day for lying about like a babbling simp, but you have to marvel in its genius. Takes me back to my youth -happy days.
  11. The Damned United: 8/10. For a footie film, I thought it was rather good and solid performances by Sheen and Spall, as Clough and Taylor.
  12. How far away were they? Did they have to walk right past you?
  13. Could Queens be saved from relegation again, by a striking team?
  14. I agree with most of that. However I do think you are down playing the power of the Israeli lobby. I don't think a President looking for a second term in office would bode well if he cut military aid to Israel and softened US policy against the likes of Iran et al, even if he wanted to.
  15. They are one of the most powerful lobbies within the US, along with the Cubans. Now I am sure the US would fund Israel to some extent anyway, but they are very good at keeping issues that effect Israel near the top of American foreign policy. Obviously this comes into play at election time when parties are trying to raise campaign funds. You just need to look at the candidates in the last US election both made great play that Israel and Cuban issues would remain a US priority and they would not soften their foreign policies where these countries were concerned. In fact even in the primaries Hilary Clinton made a great play of this, so I don't think the influence of the Israeli lobby on American foreign policy can be understated.
  16. You do realise access to the Gaza strip is tightly controled by Israel. Air, sea and road - nothing gets in or out without Israel's say so. Food, fuel, the lot. They really are functioning like a ghetto, so is it really any wonder they react like they do?
  17. That's right. The arabs are not white Europeans, so although for all intents and purposes it is ethnic cleansing, lets call it something more cuddly like repression.
  18. I doubt it. The Israel lobby is very powerful in the States and any softening of policy on Palestine will not go down well with them. No, more of the same I am afraid.
  19. That's correct. It's like making a defence for child abuse because you, yourself were abused as a child.
  20. The last one I read was Cold War, by Jeremy Isaacs and Taylor Downing. A good read I must say and one that I would recommend to anyone with an interest in global events from 1945-1990. Cold War covers all the major events and players from this time in a relatively unbiased assesment of the stand off between the two super powers and how it shaped the world. The book has been well researched and draws on material from the historical archives and the people at the heart Government around the world, to make it a good read. 9/10.
  21. The last movie I watched was 'W' at the cinema a couple of weeks ago. It was a decent yarn without really hitting the highlights. Five out of ten from me. I think we are going to watch A Body of Lies at the cinema next week, hopefully that will be a bit better.
  22. I am heading off on holiday in the next four weeks so any suggestions for a good book would be appreciated. I am looking for one on the war in the Balkans and/or the Spanish Civil war, if anyone could recommend one on these subjects that would be great.
