Attempting to sign players which are proven in the league you play in and going free is a standard signing target for just about every professional club going. Weakening the opposition can also be a side benefit but the idea of paying players thousands of pounds a week purely to rot in the reserves wouldnt fly with anybody in charge of the finances.

Well no, we have had a fair share of below average keepers up untill the past decade or so. Even if you look at ones who we have signed from the league we are in like Rab Douglas. He looked unbelievable at Dundee but lacked the concentration required for us and cracked under the additional pressure.

What goals was he really at fault for? I cant think of any, first yes was near post but a clever volley with the outside of the boot. 2nd was a one touch finish that Bain did ok I thought to react fast but another clever finish. Disagree with Stewart questioning his positioning being on the goal line given the back 4 were on the edge of the box at the time of the through ball. 3rd was a looping header to the inside of the post. I thought he was bang average when we signed him and I liked Gordon anyway just felt Rodgers was asking him to play a role he clearly cant play. Fast forward a year and Bain has rarely put a foot wrong for us and the back 4 seem way more settled with him in goal. I would take Dundees views on him with a pinch of salt given they thought Hendry was great and Bain was shite. Somewhere between average and great for me so I didnt vote. Certainly competent, the ‘found out’ comment is pish given he played well at a level far higher than last night only last month ffs and he wasnt even that bad yesterday either.
