  1. I liked OTJs at Calley. Good on the ball and good in the air. Never really got a shot at Hibs. Could be a decent acquisition for Falkirk as they continue to collect Edinburgh's rejects.

Can we make a team of ex-Jambos yet?

Got a defence off the top of my head; MacDonald, Brian Whittaker, Sandy Burrell, Darren Barr, Neil Berry; and Scott Crabbe & Donald Ford up front... who else?

  2. I'm no a Hibs fan.

Boy might do alright for you but he's got no pace, no discernible abilities beyond being tall and can't pass or tackle. He was the same at Inverness, a big carthorse. Plenty players do seem to play better away from Hibs tbf

Brilliant... So, in summary, he's - very tall. Injury prone. Not a passer, nor a blocker. Not a goal scorer... Hmmm.

Not sold on the notion that that particular skill set will "do alright" for us.

  3. And so a grand total of 4 days left this window for PH to invest (an unspecified amount) in the team. Wonder who's still available at the arse end of the summer sales that'll "make the team better than the players already here". No probs with Houstie's aspirations there, but the BoD haven't really given him much of a chance have they?

So why sell him at this point? If Norwich - or anyone else - were that keen on McGrandles they could have come back in January, by which time at least there could have been a decent strategy in place for targeting replacements. Particularly on the back of increased season ticket sales and the stated aim of aiming for the playoffs. To drop the club's knickers to the first gentleman caller isn't much of business plan, it just smacks of desperation.

Not suggesting for a minute that McGrandles is worth the sort of money Ryan Gauld went for, but it would be pretty interesting for our Board to understand how DU marketed an 18-year-old kid. (Who could also have got injured, or lost form, or faced any of the same risks that McGrandles would have faced had he stayed longer).

  4. Mcgrandles should never have been sold disgrace no matter what the fee, he was our best player by far and he was only going to get better he signed a new contract at the start of the season its way to late on in the transfer window for us to bring players in and we won't find a player as good as conor. Fuming he should have been our first £1million pound player and we should be the ones setting the fee just like hamilton did with mcarthy and dundee united did with robertson.

    Welcome to the 21st century

    and...

    'have you met our BoD?'

  5. ah well. Be really interesting to see how - and how quickly - he progresses next. His development over the last couple of seasons since he first appeared has been great to watch. Best of luck, lad.

And best of luck to Houstie trying to get 2 or 3 decent new guys signed in what's left of the window.

  6. Mcgrandles should be our first million pound player but knowing our board it will be around 500k plus 'add ons' the only add on I want to see is a 25% sell on fee.

with almost no exceptions over that last - what, maybe 30 years? - our BoD have consistently sold the club short over getting real value from our player sales. Sadly the norm has amounted to them spraying their y-fronts over the first offer that comes in rather than playing hard-to-get, and certainly not sorting out sensible add-on clauses. I wouldn't hold out much hope they'll get the club the right deal for Conor either.
