  1. Dunno about the game, but on the face of it a decent result for Sons, especially with the red card. Were there sporting handshakes all round ?
  2. No I don't, but I'm fascinated by the continual assumption from Corbyn, Leonard and Co that a GE will magically usher Labour into power - it won't. Especially when they think that by being all things to all people on Brexit is the way to go - it isn't.
  3. If ever there was an apposite title for a thread then last night's English council election results surely confirmed it. Is there now anyone outwith Corbyn and his inner circle who thinks that Labour has a hope in Hell of winning the next UK General Election ?
  4. I can't make it tomorrow but I hope the game lives up to the occasion. Well done to Arbroath, and please, don't make any radical alterations to Gayfield as you head for the Championship, as it is a proper old-school football ground.
  5. I can't help thinking that Jim Duffy will be eyeing possible developments at Firhill, Falkirk, Dumfries and possibly Dundee and Kirkcaldy over the next wee while.
  6. ...... this would be the first such incident in Tayside football since Ian McCall allegedly keiched in Simon Stainrod's shoe at Dens Park.
  7. If age has provided me with anything it may be the faculty to seldom accept anything at face value, especially where politics is concerned. Consider this. Last week the US security apparatus condemned the UK Government's decision to involve Huawei in any shape or form in future telecoms projects; the news had originally been leaked to The Telegraph, by persons or persons unknown, but that's not how the Yanks got to hear about it. Had the US not issued its threat on future cooperation then the leak enquiry would have gently drifted into the ether, with the usual lessons learned, etc., The fact that they did however has forced May's Government to seek to hastily ditch the Huawei deal, shit scared as they are of the Americans, especially with Brexit looming (indeed it is surprising it ever materialised in the first place). What better then than to sacrifice the most hapless member of a hapless Cabinet, namely Private Pike, and to kill two birds with one stone ? The leaker is hung out to dry, job done, but more importantly, under cover of Williamson's sacking and the horror of leaked highly sensitive info expect May's Government to now revisit and reassess the entire Huawei project, with a wholly predicatable outcome. Better to offend Beijing than Washington after all, and normal service will quickly be resumed.
  8. So here I am, anorak zipped up watching Fylde entertain HarrogateTown on BT Sport, and blow me if our old pal Josh Falkingham isn't pulling the midfield strings for the visitors. Who amongst us can ever forget the rag-dolling Kevin Nicholl gave the wee shite in the Play-Off Semi-Final versus the Lichties in 2012 ?
  9. Yikes...Liz Smith has scared the shit out of me ever since I first saw her cycling off with Toto in her bicycle basket in the opening scenes of The Wizard Of Oz.
  10. Indeed, whoever appointed him Defence Minister in the first place should be charged with gross negligence.
  11. Aye, Graeme Robertson has done a magnificent job over many, many years and he and his contributors fully deserve this accolade. And a mention too to Announcer Jim.
  12. We had one. It was called the Anglo-Scottish Cup. It was a long time ago. No-one anywhere ever talks about it.
  13. I feel really sorry for anyone whose life revolves around any sort of drink, but maybe having my serious drinking days long behind me has provided some perspective.
  14. I'd go along with this entirely; it is very difficult to look the part from occasional cameo appearances and Brian McLean's improving performances confirm what a regular place can produce in a player. In addition to his good showing against Arbroath young Armour came off the bench at Airdrie to assist in Thomas's equaliser. I wouldn't be averse to taking a punt on him if he became available.
  15. He's currently making Mark Francois look like Bruce Forsyth.
  16. No, it's utter bullshit. That little creep Douglas Alexander was on Newsnight last night repeating the latest (and now widely circulating) Unionist assertion that because Brexit has become an utter cluster f**k then that becomes the default position for all future negotiations. Let's face it, these people are so implacably opposed to Scottish Independence that they will literally stop at nothing to further their agenda. Having had success in the last GE standing on a single issue, I fully expect the Tories to be joined by Labour next time in wrapping themselves in the union jack in a desperate bid to stay relevant.
  17. When Sons won promotion in May 1972 a bottle of Pomagne was 32 pence in Hays supermarket. I kid ye not people.
  18. So why aren't they given the airtime a 52/48 outcome would demand ?
  19. Perhaps, but as someone who watches a lot of of BBC news programmes there is no doubt in my mind that the state broadcaster disproportionally seeks out Leave voters. The reasons for that are unlikely to be bias per se, with it more likely being that since the Gilligan/David Kelly imbroglio the BBC has been shit feart of any sort of controversy and backlash, so better just go with who is shouting the loudest. Leavers tend to be more vocal and rabid in a depessingly entertaining way, so it's all much easier to pitch up at an open-air market stall in Oldham than have some pointy-head sientist in Cambridge talking absolute sense and have the most of the country reach for the remote.
  20. To paraphrase Vince Cable (remember him ?) they've had their orgasmic spasm and reality is about to bite. They'll get to find out quite soon that having all sorts of pals and promotion in the London media doesn't necessarily translate to electoral gain.
  21. Delighted to see the football club putting clear blue water between itself and the majority shareholder. No-one should be in any doubt that only one of these parties has the interests of DFC and the local community at the heart of its activities.
  22. I'd imagine Mike Ashley might be the living proof of that closing sentence.....
  23. I just wish Sons fans would see Brabco for what they are; misadventure capitalists who misjudged just about everything and are now nothing but a non-contributing barrier to DFC's progress. The irony of them complaining about lighting columns is truly priceless; this from a mob who aren't prepared to maintain the 'lighting columns' of their principal asset, never mind a myriad of other issues of neglect. How people still accord them any credence is beyond me.
