  1. Yes, it seems a common rumour but if they can't convince themselves to go full-on for league status on the back of a big payday from the Celtic Cup-tie then they'll never do it. Time will tell soon enough.
  2. You do know that the actor who played Hiram Holliday was Wally Cox ? Seems you've chosen well.
  3. In a similar vein, and if I could offer the Bully Wee faithful a glimmer of hope, this Saturday we should be looking to avenge the 5-0 humping we took the last time we were at Stair Park. We are in decent form with four straight shutouts and whilst I think Faz will look to rotate the team now that we are in the playoffs, this creates opportunities for others to impress. I'd certainly start Hilton though as he's looked the part of late and he should know Stair Park very well.
  4. Hideous conditions but the correct outcome. I was curious though why after taking the lead we failed to press more, especially as Clyde have a history of digging out late draws here. Play-off spot confirmed, so two cheers for that, but as today's results showed there's still a lot of football to be played in this division.
  5. Yes, the Lennox is still there but it's now a downstairs bar only of the busy howff type. The wee lounge upstairs was run by a very pleasant woman called Ruth back in the day. I take it you were a teammate of Ian McGregor, Dougie Lockhart, Malky King, 'Joe' Benton and Alistair Kerr, to name a few ?
  6. Some 24-carat strikes in the Bernabeau tonight.
  7. What about my old workmate Archie Rose ? Archie gave sterling service to Stenny at RB in the 60's through the 70's with a break at Brockville.
  8. It was definitely inside the box and Thomas Brindley immediately realised that.
  9. And what sort of office would that be ? An Estates Office in Aberdeenshire by any chance ?
  10. You mean like Scotland teams through the ages, it was easier to get in than back oot ?
  11. With plenty at stake for both clubs this should be a full-blooded encounter and then some. The Bully Wee arrive on the back of Jordan Allan's late winner last Saturday whilst the Sons have quietly but effectively gone about their business since a truly dismal performance the last time these teams met.
  12. Anyone know why the Broomhill game was off yesterday ? There was no mention of a waterlogged pitch on the BBC Sport website.
  13. Lennon played well but in truth we didn't have a failure across the team. When you factor in that we had a goal disallowed in each half, the second of which was very debatable, it was a very decent win in very blustery conditions. The only slight concern was the impressive Newbury failing to appear for the second half but I'm hoping that was precautionary rather than anything serious. Forfar plugged away without creating a great deal - should have equalised at 1-0 however - and they struggled with the high-energy pressing and runs if Finlay and Carlo.
  14. Very well done to everyone at Stenny, deserved winners of the title. You've waited a long time for this so do the celebrations justice !!
  15. I see that Sarwar has come out strongly against UK arms sales to Israel. If I was a cartoonist I'd draw a sketch of Starmer releasing a wee wind-up toy on the M6 and pointing in it towards John O'Groats.
  16. How are things looking weather-wise in the braw county of Angus ? Edit to add - When I initially typed that sentence the word 'braw' was altered to 'draw'. It's really clever that AI stuff.
  17. I'm pretty sure Chelsea visited Kilbowie twice in fairly quick order in the mid 1960's to play friendlies against ES Clydebank. The young me was at one of them, I'm sure it was a Friday night, which finished 2-2 in front of 6-7000. I seem to remember Marvin Hinton scoring one of the Chelsea goals.
  18. They tell me afternoon tea at Balmoral Castle is decent.
  19. Forfar have been nothing if not consistent this season, but maybe not in the way their fans wanted - draws or dross, take your pick. With East Fife revving up and facing a stuttering Stenny we really need to go for this. As such I'd definitely play Carlo from the off and bench Calum Wilson. Elsewhere the team picks itself but James Graham could be a useful option on a pitch which should be conducive to football.
  20. Nicky Jamieson is now injured, they can't buy a goal and several players look as if they are feeling the pressure. This could be the biggest collapse since Devon Loch.
