  1. 5 miles last night in the driving wind and rain. Is it meant to be fun on nights like this? I was interval training and try as I might to plan it, I always seemed to be running the fast periods into the wind or up hill. Happy enough with the 44:19 I recorded despite the searing pain I was in as I pushed myself hard. All this effort must be paying off though as my powers of recovery have increased (I feel fine today whereas 2 weeks ago I would be crippled over in pain), I've lost 9lbs and my jeans don't fit me anymore. I'm due a 10 mile run on Sunday but I'll be drinking tomorrow night so I better do it tomorrow morning instead. It's meant to be at 11:32 pace but I can't seem to run comfortably at that pace anymore. 10:00 mins per mile is more like it at the moment for what will be my longest run so far in my schedule.
  2. I'll be taking my iPod with me to record my run on the marathon but I won't be listening to any music until I hit the wall. I enjoy running with the other competitors and have had a few conversations along the way. It depends what you want from your run. A good time or the atmosphere. I like to soak in the atmosphere but the benefits of music are tremendous in my book so I'll be utilising that when I need it. Probably not for the last mile though - I don't want my headphones on in my photo at the finish Another C&P job
  3. They have changed the access to showers and lockers at my work. You need to pay for the gym to use them so lunchtime runs are out for me.

  7. Don't worry about Sensible, he has performance issues. He wouldn't have posted if he didn't think he was going to be the best. Anyway, a short 2 miler last night and I may be the fastest over one mile now B) 5 mile interval run tonight then a rest until Saturday's long run.

  12. I'm very pleased for you. Not as pleased as I was with my 9 mile run on Sunday but there you go Have you got the Nike+ stuff Sensible? If so then I'm more than happy to add you (then you can be the best at all the challenges )
  13. Duel - 8/10. Fantastic Jaws blueprint. The truck is a satisfyingly sinister villain and shares the shark's dinosaur death roar. Raiders of the Lost Ark - 10/10. Stuck this on after seeing the trailer for the new one. A sublime adventure. If anyone doubts the merits of the new movie or Harrison Ford's age then they should listen to Dr Jones himself when he states: "It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage."
  14. Off the top of my head I think Watty has the fastest mile so far and I may be in front for the most miles. Even if there are only 4 folk signed up so far it's still a good motivational tool as I'm heading out for a fast run tonight

  18. That's 3 confirmed and 8 maybes That's a better response than I'd hoped for. I'll get a couple of easy challenges set up tonight (private so they are P&B exclusives) and post the details, sending out invites to the usernames that we have so far. I'll make the start date Sunday 17th of Feb (just over a week). Feel free to set more challenging targets.
  19. Not yet. Last night was the first time I tried music (and only for the last 0.5 mile) and you still get distance/time updates whilst the music plays. I've been making up a playlist last night that I should finish tonight. Then I've got to work out what my powersong is going to be. Good to see some more folk getting involved. I'll stick some new challenges up here at the weekend, starting the week after that so everyone is up to speed with the Nike+ stuff?
