  1. Woakes is county level and should have been replaced with Harry Gurney.

All my opinion obviously but with the shadow of Pietersen hovering over this World Cup, I can see Moores going before the Ashes.

I don't think Gurney (or Jordan) are terribly much better than Woakes. The Nigels have a big problem in the seam bowling department - Anderson is over the peak of the bell curve, Broad isn't firing, and Finn hasn't got the same spike in his bowling since his action got remodelled. They'll probably be okay against NZ in the Tests in favourable conditions, but the Aussies will murder them in the summer.

Fancy Bangladesh to give them a scare.

  2. Got into the GNR through the ballot - well chuffed!

    Any recommendations for accomodation?

    Ditto.

I've booked a hotel out past Whitley Bay but expect that there will be cancellations on the like so keeping an ear to the ground to get something closer to the Toon.

Also signed up for the Speyside ultra three weeks before it, first shot at anything over 26.2.... :unsure2:

  3. I think the KP ship well and truly sailed after the book came out. He didn't just burn his bridges, he took a flamethrower to them and then waved his gonads at everyone from the other side. If he'd gone back to Surrey, scored a mountain of runs and kept his trap shut, he might have given himself an outside sniff.

    Not gonna happen.

  4. Scorge, happy birthday, mine too. I opted for pancakes and maple syrup for breakfast and curry at tea rather than a marathon to celebrate!!

Well done to guys and girls in Inverness today!

You got the better deal! Belated happy returns.

Massive kudos Scorge, I would've thrown in the towel.

No chance in hell I was going down as a DNF! If anything, I'm happier with this medal than the one I got for Moray last year (over an hour quicker) because I know how much fight went into it...

  5. My Loch Ness Marathon also turned out to be a quite brutal afternoon.

I only had a seven week lead-in for training due to various ailments, and was expecting to get round in five hours but without having it easy (longest LSR had been 17 miles). At 4-6 miles I could feel a grumbling appendix, then again at 8-9, then I saw my left trainer with a beautiful coating of blood. Turns out I had ripped the skin off the top of my small toe, happy days. Mixture of jog/hobble/powerwalk to the next first aid stop (three miles away, torture!) and got it gauze bandaged up, which lasted around three miles before slipping off and wedging under the sock, cue another delay. Decided not to bother with a replacement, at the next stop, because I couldn't see how another 11/12 miles would make it exponentially worse.

All was going well until the entry to Dores, and I felt my lower back, suddenly, horrifically spasm. It was breath-taking how painful it was, and I was lucky there was an ambo just round the corner. Got it well-strapped, and the rest of the race turned into a staccato powerwalk (no danger of running up the hill out of Dores, hah) and jog session. Made it to the line in 5:52, and was glad to get it done.

Course itself is as beautiful as I expected but by christ the constant undulation makes it a right old slog at times - this is definitely not one for beginners!

Enjoying a rare-vintage Glenfiddich, it being my 30th today aswell. Won't forget this one in a hurry.....

  6. Watching anything classified as 'news' over the last two days about this referendum - jaw dropping. As of yesterday, the politics of fear is really in full flow from the establishment. Every untruth, manipulation, exaggeration, disaster scenario and orchestration all designed to question every aspect of your logical and emotional thought processes are all going to be thrown at you over the next eight days.

It's exactly what they want: don't buy it, and get them telt on the 18th.

  7. England won by 39 runs. From what I saw there were some good points for Scotland especially the catching.

If we'd kept 'em down to 150 and our top order had been firing, it might have been close. England in control pretty much throughout, though it looked like it could get interesting when Leask was smashing a few over the rope.

Was in row two of Stand B, so caught the full 'force' of the aforementioned knobbers. Shame, because most of the travelling support I spoke to in the pub during the rain delay were top drawer.

  8. Matt Slater ‏ @mattslaterbbc

..I'm also told HMRC has been kept in loop with developments & has a big powwow of its own this afternoon #RFC

On the assumption this isn't cobblers (goes against what Alex Thomson tweeted earlier), could this be the FTT bomb that finally takes the roof down?

As great as this thread has been, the 'Ranjurs are totes deid LOL' thread would be nicer.....
