  1. On the flip side, I'm what you'd consider an "auld c**t", as well as a few other prefixes of c**t too , and I dislike paper money. It sort of goes against my late stage capitalistic rant about large corporations controlling people's finances by it all being electronic rather than in a 'biscuit tin under the bed', but I much prefer contactless to rifling through my pockets to find the correct amount. What's more it's actually more financially efficient. That said, I embrace technology, and being a web dev I find almost every club's online purchasing to be more of an after thought than something they should use to drive revenue.
  2. The sea change with Hemming is interesting. When I pointed out what a bad season he had with Killie I was told to stop bitching about a new player. He's had what most would consider a good season, and compared to last season a very good one, yet people are lukewarm on us retaining him.
  3. In regard to the Mandron rumour and Utrecht. Has this come about organically, as Lammers is currently on loan at Utrecht and doing very well and I know they are keen to retain him, but are they targetting (if they are) someone from the same league as Lammers' parent club as some sort of offset rather than an actual interest?
  4. People know my 2 cents regarding this, but I cannot see a negative in knowing for a fact whether a ball is over the line or not, or whether a player is offside. How the referees deal with that, and how the rules are written to take that into account is where I feel the system is failing. Do people think that someone who is literally an inch or two offside should be punished for that? I'm not so sure, I think there should be some leeway given to attacking players, I've seen many chastise VAR for correctly showing a player is offside based on the current rules, yet those are the rules, it's not the technology that is at fault. What's more, we at least have the opportunity to review the incident in real time, something that simply did not happen before, and when was the last time you remember a governing body coming out and admitting that their referees made a series of errors and highlighting those errors? Maybe that happens more than I think, but I can't remember a time that it was done, let alone identifying exactly where the failure was. In a way, both of you are correct. The "system" is fine, but it also requires human input which is flawed. Some may say, "well just get rid of it and go back to the way it was, even if that way was more flawed", and I'm sorry but that's a Luddite attitude as technology is neither going away, nor is FIFA/UEFA/SFA/SPFL (or whoever) going to request it to be removed. Part of that is going to be ego, they don't want to be seen to have made a mistake, but the future is only going to be more technological. We may even get the point where referees are not needed. Much like airline pilots, they aren't needed. Computers can fly planes far safer and efficiently than humans do - and to a large part are in control of an aeroplane during a flight far more than humans are, yet people like to see a pilot and get concerned at the thought of their lives being in the hands of a computer. The same could perhaps be said of referees, AI is going to get to a stage, if it's not there already, that it can determine whether a rule was broken far better than a human can, yet people would feel uncomfortable with it not being within the auspices of a human. Edit: sorry I should have mentioned the time taken for decisions to be made, decisions that look entirely clear to everyone watching. That is far too long, and I don't think anyone thinks differently on that.
  5. At this point neither OF seem like they want to take the title, both offering up weak performances against both of us. That said, the OF derby happens directly before Dundee play Rangers, while we are playing Celtic in the last game. I would argue that puts Dundee at a slight disadvantage. That flips should the title race go to the last game, as any Hearts fan knows we love to concede heavily to Celtic on the last day! Why am I talking about the gruesome twosome and not this game? Because I think it shows just how important this game is.
  6. Sorry, considering my reputation on here, I really should be shithousing it..
  7. We need to win this. I'm not saying we won't make 5th if we don't but Dundee are the weakest side in this section and this is our best chance to open more than a 3 point cushion. We have an advantage with GD, but that could easily be wiped out either in this game or a humping from our final game against Celtic (if the title fight is still live by then), although obvs the same could be said for Dundee and their game against Rangers. It feels like we've been coasting a little, and our form is patchy, but we're not getting cunted all over the place and I do think we have enough to get us over the line. If you go back to the comments at the start of the season, I said Dundee had bought well enough to keep themselves out of the relegation scrap, and that in Docherty they had someone that knows what it takes to get the best out of those players at this level. Did I expect them to make top 6? No, but I didn't expect them to that far away. I quite like the club, some of the posters are utter roasters.. , but if I had to choose a different team other than my own to make 5th, it would have been them.
  8. "When I first started supporting us" it was "the norm", hence seeing us at that position again is like "a return to the norm". It's not hard to understand, bud, even for you...
  9. When I first started supporting us, we were in the top 6 all the time. To me, this simply feels like a "return to the norm" rather than a successful season.
  10. We've had a good season, full stop. I do not believe we have been out of the top 6. This is not a team that had some lucky results at the start and has been coasting since then.
  11. Absolutely. The only team that will be responsible for us finishing in 6th is ourselves.
  12. I am going to channel my "inner Elvis" and ask, are we ready for "the banter" from the Dundee lads when they pip us to 5th and a European spot?
  13. Celtic on the last day needing a win for the title? Any Hearts fans wish to comment? For me, Killie can't be caught, they have pushed on when we've stagnated. No shade at us or Robinson, but it's just happened that way. Well done to them. The important thing is to keep ahead of Dundee, and we should be able to do that, and let the chips land regarding possible Euro qualification.
  14. When I posted my (correct for the time) stuff, I was pretty much jumped upon, and it has been dragged up several times, I just assumed that was the case here. I never listen to Misery Hunters. As for here, I only fleetingly bother with this site any more.
  15. Come on, just name me, because it is clear that's who you mean... I was absolutely right to highlight how bad Hemming's previous season was, simply because it was horrendously bad; a mix of poor performances, injury and personal issues leading to him being dropped. In fact it would be crazy not to mention that, because the reverse is absolutely true; if he had had a great season it would have been touted in every post about him. "Sauce for the goose..", and all that What I didn't do, though, is have a running commentary on his performances. He has been at fault several times, but I've not specifically called him out about it, and I have praised him when he has been a standout. Has Hemming performed much (much) better than the previous season? Yes, he has, and I have been quick to acknowledge that. Would I like to see him brought in permanently? Sure, I think he's proven himself. Something he didn't do last season with Killie. As for Gogic, the lad is 30 (well.. he will be tomorrow!), and is probably looking at his last big pay packet. He is an international regular and has just helped get his team into a league position they haven't been in in decades. He has to be looking around thinking that he can get a little more cash in perhaps a higher profile league. Would I "push the boat" out for him? No idea, because I have no visibility over whom Robinson may think of replacing him with and what they would cost. Would I like to see us put money towards his renewal that would weaken other areas of our team? Obviously not. If we consider Gogic as a defender who can cover midfield (rather than the reverse) I guess we need to look at who we'll have there next season.
  16. Are you willing to post a picture of your girlfriend or wife in here and have people make personal statements about how they look, or whether they would like to f**k them? What's more, once you'd done that, get that person to read those comments and ask how they feel about randoms objectifying them. You must be willing to do that, after all "It's just a statement of fact surely?" as you claim. Edit: I have assumed here, that you are hetero, and thus would have a female partner.
  17. Again, you just don't get it, and that is a real shame. @bennett does get it, but they are trolling.
  18. The irony meter is currently overloaded. It's a real shame you are unable to understand the affect of your actions. Exactly the reason Cowan should not be on air.
  19. Yeah, I mean it's still effectively a tabloid, just like others and so has to play by the clickbait title headlines. That said, if you are talking rage bait and shock then the litany of hateful right wing mags based in London outdo the National in spades.
  20. How old are you? If you are a boomer, then that is exactly the sort of response I'd expect. Society is moving and you need to read the room. Here's the thing, it's called respect. In the context of a football show, don't sexually objectify people. As I said, if this was Love Island where sex and physical appearance are what drives the show, then fine, the person knows what the focus of the show will be. Ultimately If you see nothing wrong with it, then you really should go and talk to women who are constantly being judged and objectified without their consent or knowledge. It might change your mind about how insidious and creepy it is being seen as a slab of meat that's only merit is how good your penis would feel if it came in contact with them. Let me be clear here, I'm not red dotting people, I'm not calling them out by name, I'm not reporting them to the mods, but I would be pretty disappointed if a good majority of people don't see the point I am making.
  21. She's on the show to discuss football, objectifying her seems a bit much. If she was on Love Island, fine I'd get it, but discuss her knowledge of football, not her looks. That's the way I see it, just feels a bit creepy imo.
  22. I absolutely do not miss being in the mix for relegation. Those 6 pointers at the end of the season are a nightmare. For me, the bottom two stay the bottom two. Don't know what County fans think of Cowie but at least he's not Adams, and I'm unsure if he's improved/stabilised that side, but Levein seems "too clever"(*) to not get enough out of St Johnstone to keep the gap.
  23. You are totally right, I said a draw was all you need but that GD might catch you out.
  24. You have to consider the game against Rangers as a "free hit", it's your game in hand and they are pushing for the title. I think you can take Aberdeen in that final game before the split, and you only need a draw.
  25. Ok.. simple yes or no, are you hitting the top six? btw, even if you don't I think you will, you've had an incredible season and should be well proud of your team. ...but yeah, at this very moment, what is your gut feeling?
