  1. The first 45 was truly dreadful. Don't think the team managed to string more than 3 passes together. I say "the team" but the one thing that was clear was the 11 BU players were not playing as a team.
  2. A wee reminder of the BU side that defeated West Calder in a penalty shoot out in the Fife and Lothians Cup (1st round) on 7th October 2017. 1. Alexander Marshall 2. Michael Gemmell (captain) 3. Devon Jacobs 4. Will Snowdon 5. Ross Campbell 6. Andy Shirra 7. Calum Scott 8. Ryan Millar 9. Jack Wilson (replaced by Scott Sally 56 mins) 10. Ryan Batchler (replaced by Fraser Keast 45 mins) 11. Connor Flynn-gillespie Three memories from the game:- Cracking control and finish by Ross "goal machine" Campbell late in the game to make it 2-2 A professional foul by Michael Gemmell to stop West Calder probably getting a late, late goal. A Scott Sally attempt in the penalty shoot out that is probably still up in the air.
  3. Hopefully the BU's get another game lined up for Saturday. ......................and if it's not asking too much how about some transfer news.
  4. I don't agree with the statement the committee "sat by and let the pitch be taken over by NPA". Some people on here may think that all it required was for BUFC to pay Falkirk Council a sum of money to transfer ownership but that could never happen in terms of the original Trust deed. There was a significant amount of consideration by all parties before the NPA solution was put in place. We now have the NPA in place to ensure that the ground will be used for the purposes intended which was for the benefit of all the people of Bo'ness not just BUFC. I am a passionate BU fan and would love if the BU's owned Newtown Park but they don't so let's all just stop the bickering and sniping and encourage the various bodies ( BUFC, NPA, BUCFC and others) to work together and make the best of the situation.
  5. I didn't attend the meeting so didn't hear the pros and cons but personally I would have liked NPA, BUFC and BUCFC to have reached an agreed position that allowed things to progress as quickly as possible.
  6. Newtown Park Association Facebook page has a number of entries. There are about 5 posts dated 2nd August 2017 that clearly state the objectives of the NPA. An entry states:- "Newtown Park must remain the home of the local Professional football team". They also say the facilities are for BUCFC and the people of Bo'ness. I would be very confident that the BU's would get priority to play matches and also hopefully do their training sessions.
  7. Netherlands are rubbish now !! ........but I think their investment and set up will see them bounce back.
  8. Indication from deleted post was that work starts in April 2019if they get the extra 50K required.
  9. Sheep there was a lengthy post that had all the figures which I responded to and then the poster deleted it. The suggestion was that NPA had the original funding but the price for the delayed work leaves them 50K short.
  10. Never going to happen. I heard the rough ground which was previously the shirt factory is NOT owned by the council. The council do own the grass area to the North of it but you need both areas. Using both areas you could get the current size of pitch in but the areas behind the goals would be much shorter.
  11. Cont'd from above. NPA objective is to create a facility that is for the whole community. The 3G would allow various Bo'ness teams to play there including BUCFC . There is an understanding that BUFC would be given priority for their matches. So NPA are doing the work, BUFC get first dibs on Match days and BUCFC will also be using the facility. Hope that makes the dynamics clear.
  12. Dynamics are IMO fairly simple. History was that the piece of land which is known as Newtown Park never belonged to Bo'ness United or for that matter Falkirk Council. It was gifted to the people of Bo'ness for the purposes of football and the trustees were a bunch of local worthies such as the local bank manager, church minister, town clerk, provost, pit manager etc.... Because of this nobody clearly "owned" Newtown Park so getting funding to develop the park would be impossible. Legal advice was taken and the best option for all to take matters forward was the creation of the NPA who were given ownership of Newtown Park. The NPA have done really well in taking things forward and getting so much funding.
  13. So in summary the NPA now have to find £50K of additional funding to allow the work to start in April 2019. Can you explain the "extra remedial work" mentioned at Option 3. How would it differ to how the mineshaft issue is being dealt with under the other 2 options ? Bit baffled with the "going to the wall" suggestion made by BU's. Yes potentially there may be less games this season if we get kicked out the cups early but it sounds a bit doom and gloom.
  14. One look at the sides now in the East Superleague and you know the move to the EoSFL was the right decision. Top 5 finish is the target.
  15. Aye, they are the Mike and Bernie winters of the Rose thread.
  16. It's fair to say that Coco didn't look interested when playing for Bo'ness. He made no effort to get involved in games, wandered about the pitch chatting to opposition players and never went near a 50/50 tackle. A shadow of the Rose striker who played well against the BU's for several seasons. #WageThief@BU
  17. Not the pie hut.... anywhere but the pie hut !![emoji35]
  18. On the Unofficial BU website in mid June it said Kegs wanted an 18 man squad and listed 8 players who had signed on for next season if you add subsequent add ons we only have 12 players signed up just now :- Goalie: Murphy Defenders: Campbell Hunter Midfielders: Gemmell Gray Morgan Watt Donnelly Forwards: Keast Wright Prentice McKenzie. No mention of Devon Jacobs, Callum Scott, Andy Shirra, Will Snowdon etc, etc. Are these players staying or going. I will be gutted if Dev and Callum have left. Couldn't think of worse news............unless we brought back Ryan Hogan [emoji20]
  19. Bathgate Thistle Twitter and the pre season friendly thread both saying Bathgate v BU's on 14th July at Bathgate.
  20. If the Coal Authority has been contacted by the NPA to sort the mine shaft problem you can't imagine a quick fix happening.
  21. Are we waiting confirmation that the pitch replacement is delayed for a season before announcing a home friendly before the Talbot game ?
