So I've just read through the whole thing.

    Snippets are

    - He said Gerri doesn't do it for him anymore

    - Had a tug in the plane toilet on the way home from Bahrain last year

    - Asked for photos seemed to get none.

    - Horner does indeed have an penis.

    - Had a steak pie for lunch one day.

    - Man has no game.

Some of it has absolutely creased me. It's exactly how I imagine Brendan Rodgers would flirt.

Sorry Jan but as Shania Twain almost said,  he don't impress me much!

He certainly looks fast but no goals or impact up front meant he was simply a bench warmer.

How's Tony Wallace doing at whatever your stadiums called this week? Now he could certainly have played L1 and was disappointed when he chose to move on.

BTW,  maybees see you guys in the playoffs??

That's disappointing. I was praying he was a hidden hem who just found his chances limited with Goss and Smith for competition. Pace is, at least, something. We lack that at the moment, so I'll cling to that!

Tony's been very good this season. But I don't think any of this will come as a surprise. He's a solid big player, he'll work his arse off, does nothing stupid and is the best finisher we have at the club. Most of his open play goals have been really well taken. He's obviously got next to no pace, but he's so skilful that it doesn't seem to matter. He's great at opening up space for a bit of skill and then delivering a dangerous ball into the box. He makes us a better team and I was glad we extended his deal last week - with the bonus for him that he can walk to and from home matches!

Aye I reckon a rematch is on. Although I'd fancy Annan's chances massively for the playoffs; unless one of Peterhead, Spartans or ourselves can find some form. I don't think any of the three playoff teams are anything special; we've got weaker as the season has gone on, Peterhead are falling away and Spartans are solid. But completely unremarkable. With you guys finding your feet a bit (and having plenty of firepower and the best manager out of the four clubs) then my money would be on another playoff victory. Although who knows!

Selfishly mind you I'm hoping the Binos are dragged back into it. A game 10 minutes from my front door is a luxury I've missed this season

With Broomhill playing on the pitch yesterday I can’t even begin to imagine what kind of a nick it is in. Our pitch simply cannot handle 3 games in a week, especially when 2 of those are back to back.

It’s genuinely borderline unplayable, just due to it’s general state. I find watching home games a bit of a slog because the pitch impacts the quality of the game so much. The players must absolutely hate it.

I’d also just like to add that Marc Kelly has the worst combover I’ve ever seen.

Funnily enough I was just looking at pictures from yesterday... Horrendous

  4. I enjoyed that today. Well. Most of it. The pitch was a joke by the end and the amount of mistakes where people took dodgy touches was brutal to watch. But aside from that, I thought it was a good, competitive and open game.

I was pleased we tried something different with Cian Newbury in midfield, Lennon at CB and Blair at LB. And I think it worked.

I don't think Ryan Blair is a left-back at all. But I do think he's better there than Gallagher Lennon. Who, in turn, looked more comfortable in at centre-half. Although I think he's a fair way shy of Cian Newbury's levels.

Aside from the first five minutes where Stranraer scored one and missed a sitter, I thought we were very good in the first-half. It's as good as we've played in a few months.

We looked a lot more like the side from the start of the season. It was high intensity with Newbury and Gray not giving Stranraer and a moment of peace, we created plenty of chances and put together some really nice moves. The only disappointment was not being further ahead at half-time.

I've been hugely impressed with Cian Newbury, and I thought he looked the part in midfield. He could tackle AND pass! That's something we've kind of been lacking all season in a centre-mid.

I questioned the decision to start Div Wilson, but I thought he had a good game. And we lost a bit when he was hooked - albeit he was looking quite leggy after a few surging runs into space down the right.

On the opposite hand I was delighted to see Finlay Gray start. I actually don't think he had a great game today, but his energy and dynamism were really handy. And his movement and assist for Ruth's goal was excellent.

The two best players on the park though were our two goalscorers. Michael Ruth and Tony Wallace.

Ruth is a star. His goal was a superb, instinctive finish. His hold up play was outstanding, he ran the channels, hassled the backline and generally looked a cut above. I think he's my favourite player at the club right now and there's not a hope in hell he'll be with us next season. The way he's playing reminds me a bit of Chris Kane, albeit at St Johnstone not at us. Everything he does is really good. You just wish he'd score double the number of goals.

I don't sleep at night for fear of him getting injured. He's vital to how we play and we have nobody else who can play up top, let alone get near his levels.

I don't know how Tony Wallace managed it. But he seemed to be playing on a different surface to everyone else. His game was full of cute touches, nutmegs and composure that made it look like he was playing on a pool table. Not a lunar surface. His goal was a superb finish. He seemed to be operating in slow motion to create the space and drill in. It was class.

Whilst the two goalscorers played very well, I also thought Jay Hogarth had his best game for us. Everything he did was just very assured. His handling was flawless and he made a superb late save from Ben Armour. Hopefully his first few showings were losing the rustiness and now we're seeing the real Jay Hogarth.

That wasn't to say it was all good. A better team than Stranraer probably caused us more issues down the left, with Blair and Lennon the obvious targets. And Matty Grant should've equalised before half-time, but didn't connect with an inviting cross.

We also fell out of the game big time towards the end as Stranraer went balls out for a goal. And Michael Ruth became more and more isolated.

After today I fear for Stranraer. That's the first time I've seen them in the flesh, and defensively especially I wasn't impressed at all.

Chris McQueen and Kyle Girvan didn't look the most convincing, and big Scott Robertson's muscle was probably missed today. Finn Ecrepont's corners were gorgeous and he was generally good on the ball. But Kalvin Orsi and Carlo Pignatiello were running riot at times, and he looked completely overwhelmed. Especially in the first-half.

Deryn Lang worked incredibly hard but with limited reward, and Matty Grant showed some great touches. And some terrible ones. James Dolan never really got going at all.

If there is a flicker of hope though, then I'd say it was Chris Johnston. He improved his side immeasurably after coming on at half-time. Get him firing and he's one of the best forward players in the league. He's someone I really rate, and if Stranraer were to go down then I'd be hoping we'd be sniffing around him.

Clyde's result today though means things will be looking a bit nervy at Stair Park I'd imagine. But don't fear. You've still to play us twice there! And we've had our two wins already for this decade!

It seems, rumour has it 😉, that Lennon will play CB with Crighton and Newbury will play in midfield in front of them. Which would mean Blair at LB and Pignatiello at RB.

At least he is trying something...

I'm not against that. I'd maybe have stuck Newbury at RB and Carlo in midfield, but a reshuffle between LB and CM is exactly what we've been needing.

  6. I'm interested to see if that's still 4-4-1-1 and if so, who is played in the #10. It doesn't really suit Gray imo, and he didn't do a great deal in there last week.

Div Wilson is also getting a lot of football for a man who shows glimpses of quality in a series of otherwise very average performances. I don't think our pitch suits him as a player either. You won't get time to ping lovely passes about on that bog.

Anyway. Sun is shining, winter is almost over. 3-0 Sons (Div Wilson hat-trick and Jinky coming off the bench to score late on).

What do we reckon for today then?

Farrell still refusing to play Gray from the start? Tony Wallace on the bench too? Hilton and Kelly taking turns to show that neither are wide players? Lennon left really exposed because whichever one of the afore mentioned players doesnt give him any kind of protection.

I'm not ruling out Sam Mendes showing up to film a sequel to 1917 on that disgrace of a pitch.

We need to win today. If we don't then we'll have managed just 2 league wins for the whole of December, January and February. The idea that we can potentially hit 3 calendar months with only 2 league wins should be unthinkable. Sadly there's every chance that we'll be in that exact position around 3:50 this afternoon.

I think this is probably the last chance to prevent things from becoming really nasty.

The thing that totally blows my mind is how we're still (at this exact moment in time) sitting comfortably in the playoffs places. A run like that in most other leagues would have you knocked out of promotion contention for good.

It's not even like we started the season with seven straight wins like last year too. I cannot understand how we're still fourth despite that fact.

I agree with you though. If things haven't already turned nasty, then defeat today would do that for good. Back-to-back defeats against the bottom two in the league as part of a run of two wins in three months would tip most fanbases over the edge. Let alone one that's probably already over that.

I hope we go balls out to win the game. It'll be a scrap on our shambles of a park, it's not going to be one for pretty football or gentle build up play. Get shots away, get balls into good areas and get our best players on the park please. A game to go back to basics in.

He was, and probably still is, a very good footballer.

He's always been an impetuous immature individual however. Someone who requires a cuddle at times. Darren Young was quite good at this, but even his patience was limited.

He's whingy as hell on the park. Especially towards referees. But I don't think we ever had an issue with his professionalism on or off the park to be honest. Faz always spoke highly of him on and off the record, and (aside from the odd bollocking for a crap pass or taking the wrong option) I didn't really ever see him having any issues with his teammates. Obviously that could've all changed (or I might be wrong, but I was expecting/fearing him to be fair worse than he was!)

I sat with him and a few players from both sides up at Peterhead after the midweek game last month for a bit, and he just seemed like another one of the squad. We slagged off the park, complained about the travelling for a midweek and just generally covered the topics you'd cover with a player after a midweek defeat!

He's obviously prone to losing the head on the park and picking up daft bookings for dissent. And he has the incident that got him sacked by Airdrie as a kid on his CV, but I don't think there was ever any issue with him at The Rock. He's not naturally an athlete, but I couldn't ever fault his work ethic either. He covered a lot of ground, he tracked back and did his work defensively.

I spoke to him a few times for the paper too and he was always decent. Not one of the guys who enjoys the media side, but he was polite and quite self-depreciating which I always like.

Genuinely the only issue I have with him from his entire 18 months with us was that he should've scored double the number of goals he did. He's such a good striker of a ball, but he was (and he joins a large club in this regard) just never ever clinical for us. We'll miss him massively though.

This is one for @microdave or @Jan Vojáček.

I'm wondering if Ryan Wallace may have created some sort of record - did he ever play a full ninety minutes for us ?

Ryan Wallace played a full 90 minutes six times in his 58 appearances for us based on my maths. But not since April 1 last year in a 2-1 defeat to Stenny.

His other 90 minutes were on his debut against Stirling Albion in July 2022. A 0-0 draw with Forfar in October 2022. In the 1-1 at Bonnyrigg in December 2022. The 2-1 loss to Forfar in January last year. In back-to-back games against East Fife and Elgin (both defeats) last February.

  10. I hope Ryan Wallace is all good off the park firstly. But that's a massive blow.

He's a class player who really came onto a game this season after a bit of a hit and miss first year. I don't think there's any doubting at all that he made us a better team, and we'll be a lot weaker without him. Especially given we now have one striker in the squad. And that's it.

    Ugh. Whit a season.

I thought I'd read that Div had a contract extension. It was on here, but that was referring to his 2 year deal in April 2023. Same concern though - why did Div deserve a 2 year deal last April?

Young I can almost agree with. Young guy at the start of his career. Season ending injury. That we're standing by him by offering the extension feels like a decent thing to do and portrays the club in a good light. But it's massively risky and we could be looking at a player who doesn't come back as good as he'd shown pre-injury.

Div signed a two year extension last April, so aye he's under contract for next season too
