  1. Jumped straight into the second season without finding a decent recap of what happened in season one. A "previously on" certainly would of came in handy.

    Spoiler

Binging the season certainly helped cover up a lot of the faults I could nitpick at. The only issue I really had was Inspector Kido surviving being shot & caught in the bomb blast. When I saw him alive in the rubble I feared that basically everyone of note was going to survive the bombing.

Thought it was a nice way to end Frank's story. Then I read through the comments here and it got me thinking. Reckon we'll be seeing a new alternative universe Frank in season 3.

  2. World of Sport airs on 31st December with a 2 hour show starting at 4pm.

Suppose the problem for ICW could come in the loss of talent: Conflict in dates, not being on Fight Club as WoS will be chasing the same International TV deals, WoS as a PG product don't want their talent working ICW full stop. WoS talent costing more due to national TV exposure.

Long term it could work out perfectly. WoS grows the casual wrestling audience that ICW can then tap into by being a distinct alternative.

A return of World of Sport Wrestling with the backing of ITV could be a big deal. Stick the weekly show on ITV4 with the odd special on ITV1. Going by the 411mania story and looking at the talent used for the pilot. There could be some serious repercussions for ICW if this takes off.

  4. I would of suggested Challenge as an option if they were still invested in British wrestling. Pretty sure they dropped WrestleTalk and the round up show a while ago. Now they've dropped TNA. So it doesn't look like they still have an interest in the wrestling business.

If you'd suggested terrestrial tv to me as being a realistic option. First thought would of been Channel 5. Once upon a time they had WCW Worldwide and as a channel they don't have a ton of original programming. Could slot ICW in late night and it wouldn't shock anyone.

Channel 4 had their WWE experiment with Heat and PPVs. Think it was over before Sky shored up the WWE entirely. Even then I hated when they had the PPVs as they included commercial breaks (not a problem for a TV show admittedly). However i'm sure they cut out all hardcore elements like blood and chair shots. BBC/ITV/STV is like shooting for the moon.

Are they not in the midst of looking for a TV deal?

Domestically, is there really a decent enough channel that would sign them up to be worth it? If Bravo was still around it would of fitted in perfectly. The best I could think of would be the Horror Channel. It's on Freeview & most Sky/Virgin packages. Similar reach that Challenge has, but would fit the 18+ image of ICW.

  6. Thought it was a good night. Most of the negatives wrestling wise have been covered but it was still decent. Preferred it over Survivor Series that night.

As for the crowd. I was reminded of the problems West Ham have been having this season with the move to the new stadium. Lots of new fans that aren't familiar with the "culture" of going to their games. I'm sure the likes of DCT would of gotten an even greater reaction to that entrance if most of the people knew about him.

Even getting decent reactions to the more obvious things was difficult unless you were close enough to the front in the standing area to see what was going on.

Ultimately 4 of us went. None of us regretted it, all would go to another show and a couple bought the OnDemand service.

  7. The talk of Anthony Hopkins being too old to be in this forever got me thinking. Maybe he does 2 seasons tops with one of the sentient hosts killing him off.

Think the show could change dramatically next year as they really need to leave the park for this to have legs.

  8. I thought someone would of mentioned that there are plans for a young Sheldon prequel series. It'll be shot with a single camera set up and be in the vein of Malcolm in the Middle.

  9. Qualifying is always going to be difficult. End of the day they won all 3 home games & the score draw away to Astana was hardly horrible. The one true black mark was the loss to the Imps. With that being a new manager's first competitive game in charge with a squad in transition, you would like to think that won't be happening again under Rodgers' reign.

They've currently got a puncher's chance of getting third this year. And third is something that Celtic can realistically achieve in most groups in the current CL format. As for competing for second place in CL groups. Both Celtic & Rangers have been able to get into the last 16 in unexpected circumstances in the past. It can certainly happen again.

  10. Impact Championship Wrestling. ICW has a certain ring to it.

As for the tape library being owned by someone else it reminds me of All Japan after the NOAH split. They lost their entire archive as it was owned by the TV station who went with NOAH.

what's better for Scotland Celtic to lose and get into the Europa league and have a better chance to get out the group or to qualify for the champions league and be in a much harder group and most likely not make it through, not meaning to be doom and gloom after it looks like Scotland will final have some decent European representation hope the dons progress tonight!

I would say Champions League. It would mean they add a minimum 5 points to the coefficient due to winning the playoff & bonus points. In the group stage there's always the chance of 3rd and still going on a wee run in the Europa League knockout rounds.

    http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/seedel2016.html

The link shows the projected seeding for the Europa League group stage. Celtic would most likely be in Pot 2 with the possibility of Pot 1. However I think most people underate the dangers of the Europa League. Right now Pot 4 is projected to go from the likes of Southampton/Hertha Berlin/PAO to lowly Dundalk.

End of the Champions League football is points on the board.

  12. Motherwell 8 games in Europe with a single official draw. Knocked out in the Playoff Round, Third Qualifying Round and Second Qualifying Round = 3 bonus points to add to the national average.

Aberdeen 16 games and counting with 7 wins & 5 draws. Minimum of 3 knock outs in the Third Qualifying Round = 3 bonus points to add to the national average.

This is one of the things that I forgot about. Points accrued by a club in qualifying only add to the national average not their own seeding.

  13. Right now tied for 100th are Leicester City & Wigan Athletic. Also notice that in 89th are Celta Vigo who have qualified for Europe this season, their first time since 2006-07.

All the team ranking does is illustrate how difficult it is for a club from a lesser league to gain any sort of traction. Aberdeen, I think most would agree, have done relatively well the last three years. Got to the Third Qualifying Round from the First. Beating a seeded team along the way each year. Yet they don't really have anything to show for it.

You'd still earn points by being in the next round anyway.

On a side note, Hibs fans missed out on a great away trip there!

Bonus points occur in the Europa League from the Quarter final stage. For the Champions League they start from the group stage.

So if Hibs had been beaten in both legs by Hertha Berlin then they would of added nothing further to the coefficient.

I think if they had gotten to the next round, a draw in one of the legs wouldn't be entirely out of the question. Would of been a typically Scottish thing to do. An extra half point wouldn't of made much of difference in the grand scheme of things though.

Are the points for over the two legs or given out after each leg?

It's per leg. So for the most recent example Aberdeen have just added another 1 point for their win over Ventspils. Making it 2 points total for getting the better of them.
