  1. I get that's he's probably not going to make it at the club but he is still on the books and would have made a decent impact sub for us in an area we're not well stocked in like he did at the tail end of last season. Like you say, probably should have been released but if he is still a Falkirk player we might as well get some use out of him.

Hope he kicks on right enough.

  2. How about a 3-5-2? Clearly not going to happen anytime soon but it may just suit the squad we have?

    Rogers

    Grant Watson Gasp

    Aero Leahy

    Taiwo/Craigen Kerr/Rankin

    Sibbs

    Austin Miller

Aero and Leahy have the legs to provide support down the flanks and would allow Sibbs to create in what's his strongest position.

I like this idea too but I reckon it's unlikely too.

Houston seems to have 2 main starting formations

Against 'better' teams- 451 with Baird up top.

Against teams we expect to beat- a narrow 442

He is good at adapting the formation during the match depending on how it's going but I don't see him deviating from those two anytime soon

Having watched Sibbs yesterday at closely, it confirms what I've been saying for ages, that our team is holding him back at times

There is no doubt that he would be an even better player in a better team. He is easily our most creative player and you can sense his frustration at times when there is a severe lack of movement in front of him.

His best position IMO is centrally off a striker. People need to start realising the bigger picture rather than trying to keep slating the boy

Definitely this, would like to see us line up something similar to this

    Rogers

    Muirhead Gasparotto Watson Leahy

    Craigen Kerr Rankin Hippolyte

    Sibbald

One of the strikers, no idea who i'd prefer

Sibbs doesn't have the pace to be out wide and he seems to be the most creative player in the side. Getting him in a position where he can influence the game more will help him develop and i think suit the team better. Issue with this i suppose is playing 1 striker when there's 4 to accommodate.

  4. Anyone else hear that we expected to sell a player over the summer so have overspent the budget by £150,000?

Would suggest there is absolutely no chance of any more faces coming in, unless a free loan from England

I always though this was a mental part of the boards finances, requiring a player to be sold every summer at this level for that sort of money.

Obviously the time would come that we didn't have a youth player ready to be sold on. I still can't believe Botti & Blair got moved on for decent money.
  5. Seems strange that he'd take this long to decide, particularly when we've started preseason. It's been know for a few weeks that he's surplus to requirements at Aberdeen so you have to imagine there's other offers on the table. Have Hamilton signed a keeper to replace McGovern yet?

  6. I imagine Alston has played his last game for us. The other 3 im not too sure about, they're good enough for the top tier but I reckon they'll be too expensive for teams out with the old firm. Grants injury will keep him from moving on and he's probably the player most likely to get a decent money transfer

  7. Cracking season - just not enough right at the end.

The last ten games or so (prior to today) have been hard fought and there's been some epic moments.

    Mon the Bairns etc.

Aye, that sums it up perfectly.

Onto next season now, with a couple of decent additions to the side we should be challenging for the league.

  8. Was Taiwo injured on Friday?

I think we need Vaulks in midfield and the sad reality of that is that means McCracken plays.

I wonder if he'd consider McCann or Gallacher at RB with Muirhead kicking inside

Yeah, he wasn't on the bench.

I agree with Vaulks to be honest. I've nothing against McCracken but he's made some fairly high profile errors lately and I've memories of Higginbotham terrorising some defenders at TFS. Massive game for someone like Gallagher to come into and I've not actually seen McCann play for us, really tough choice for Houston.

  9. Aye, Manics on Saturday will be great. annoyed they've given up the Barrowlands for the Hydro right enough. No Surface All Feeling is possibly my favourite Manics tune and I don't think I've heard it live yet.

  10. Special Correspondents

Actually enjoyed it. Had a good few laughs throughout and thought all the actors put in good performances. Gervais and Bana built up a good chemistry I thought and it was strange seeing the lovely Vera Farmiga playing a right bitch.

I feel a bit sorry for Gervais at times. It's unlikely he'll ever make anything as good as The Office but I think folk always expect more from him as a result of its genius. So it's always extremely easy to have a pop at his latest works.

To me it was very lighthearted and I got a few giggles from it. That's all I really ask from a comedy.

    6/10

I thought it was ok but I don't think Gervais helps himself by making every one of his characters downtrodden/weak which I'm not sure is his strength.

He probably excels at being snarky/cruel so it would be nice to see him take on a role like that.
