  1. He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. He waits to sign the right person and he's lambasted for it. Signs someone early who then turns out to flop and he's still in for abuse.

Too many Football Manager/Fifa career mode managers these days.

Some of the negativity shown towards Houston over the past year has been laughable. Anyone who has ever spent 5mins in his company will tell you how much he loves the club, the fans and how much he wants the club to do well.

Let's give him the time and space to do that and judge him when he's had that opportunity.

I'll tell you one thing, if he does fail at FFC it won't be for the lack of trying and I'd wager he'd walk away if it came to it.

I agree, people seem to really have it in for him and I'm not sure why. His signings weren't great last year so this year he's taking his time and people are angry about it! He could have just signed Heffernan to get people in the door but he obviously wasn't the right fit.

That said, I'd push for Remy on loan instead of Costa. Diego doesn't seem to have the fitness.

  2. Cheers. It was interesting to see how they've developed (or not really, in Alston's case) during the two seasons we've been in the 'snore fest'.

Alston is a funny one. Seems to be a big game or big moment player. Can be rotten the whole game then a bit of magic will change the whole thing. So he's probably best used as an impact player whuch is a shame as out of all the youths we've had in recent years, he's the one I thought would go furthest when I first saw him. Shows what I know!

  3. No, but in Alston's case it might see him snub a move to another Scottish club in favour of an extended spell with Falkirk.

You seem to be taking it for granted that Sibbald will move to an English club. What's stopped him following in the footsteps of his fellow academy players thus far? Has he been the subject of any speculation? Have offers been turned down by either Falkirk or the player?

I think it's been tough to see where his ideal position is. He burst onto the scene a few years ago as a left winger but he was probably too young for the responsibility of playing every week so his form dipped and he was in and out of the team.

Now he's matured, bulked up a bit, and plays more centrally. He has a lot more influence over games and could probably do with a move as you say if he's to properly kick on.

There was interest from The Rangers earlier but it was probably all paper talk.

Problem is getting a team to sign him to be the main man in the midfield. He could slip through the cracks at the likes of Swansea etc. A lower English Championship team or even upper League 1 would let him develop properly and hopefully move up.

  4. Some people have really got it in for Houston. Last season wasn't spectacular in the league but with The Rangers, Hearts and Hibs in the league we realistically weren't going anywhere. No matter what the run, it's a great achievement to get to the Scottish cup final and I'd take that over 4th place and a playoff any day!

It's true that 5th again this year would be a disaster right enough.

  5. Well that depends...

Are you Old, Boring, Dont like Noise, Hate Curse Words? If you fit this criteria then the Main Stand Is probably for you.

However if you are young(at heart), exciting, got the patter, love atmosphere, love a good singsong(very rare) and love backing the bairns? If so I'd say the South is where you want to be :)

Well, I basically communicate via swearing as soon as I enter the Bairnabeu so for that reason most of all, looks like south to me!

  6. how many of the 41 are fans who are good at Football manager

    I know one who is...

All jokes aside, I won the Championship at first attempt, had no problems with Philip Roberts, got top six the next season but was then lured away by Cardiff as I felt I'd taken the Bairns as far as I could. Jackie McNamara took over from me and is doing a great job.

I saved Cardiff from relegation, then finished 5th and now the likes of Everton and Arsenal are after me. Just goes to show you that the opportunities are there if you take them. I played youths at both clubs and I manged to get the best out of them, even sold Kingsley for £1.2 million.

Contrary to fans opinion, I found Martin Ritchie to be a great chairman. When times got tough he stuck with me and wasn't afraid to break the bank when the big money signings of John Herron, Billy King etc were required. Same goes for Vincent Tan, great chap.

Oh, I can use powerpoint too.

Martin Ritchie, I await your call.
