BBC seem to believe Clyde could make money from a potential replay, which will be news to the SFA who have ditched replays from the Scottish Cup.

It's a stretch to say McCall is our third manager this season as well, and the same article also claims our current two match unbeaten run is our only such run this season.

I seem to recall the previous transfer window seeing us miss out on a prolific striker from the Juniors (I think?) due to the board believing the asking price was too high and that the player's club were taking advantage of the "mystery benefactor" situation.

I just hope they're not taking the same line in this transfer window. If a club are asking over the odds for a player it's unfortunate but we're not really in a position to walk away at this stage. It's do or die so get a few players signed now FFS - overpriced or not!

There are a limited number of loans allowed and presumably very few free agents available (we should have gone in heavier on Edinburgh castoffs). The obvious way to strengthen is through transfer fees, which will no doubt end up bloated. We just need to suck that up at this stage and pay over the odds. It can be reined back in the summer.

If the club had been managed properly then there wouldn't be a need to panic.

  3. Anyone available for transfer should definitely be considered. I think we are constrained somewhat by limits on loan deals.

That said, there are real issues as to why a player that good is a) playing at that level and b) being allowed to leave. Then there's the bizarre Stenny loan deal as well.

  4. There's an obvious improvement and we played pretty well today but we need to turn games like that into wins and get closer to those above asap. Especially as there is a massive drop off if one of those midfielders/centre halves misses out, as Cuddihy did for half an hour.

The lack of competent full backs is more obvious when the rest of the side looks stronger.

East Fife were terrible, as so many sides in this division are, but got a point. We have rarely played that bad and got anything other than a hiding.

If the Clyde Twitter admin had teased a signing 8 (EIGHT) hours ago and not revealed it yet I’d be incandescent with rage tbqhwy.

In fairness, our actual manager was teasing new signings nearly 7 (SEVEN) days ago so fire into the rage-a-hol.

  6. The minimum we deserved there was three points. The reality is that we should probably have been sitting on a 5-0 scoreline at full-time.

It was interesting that we moved to a 4231 and played with the wide players "inverted". King and Scullion found a lot of space behind their midfield and got close to Young. The centre halves and Grant were looking for that ball all game. A proper pair of full backs with the abilty to go on the overlap and we will get a lot of joy.

Young led the line like you'd want any lone runner to. He struggled against Stenny but he's more than good enough to get the better of most cloggers in this league. I thought he did well on a number of occasions to secure possession, rather than play a flick-on that was riskier.

There were plenty of good performances but I thought that was Scullion's best display for Clyde. I still can't believe he's the same player who scored those two ridiculous own goals last season.

Cuddihy's booking was a properly disgraceful decision.

Wasn't even a foul, Bonnyrigg player just fell over him. Another referee giving what he thinks he saw, rather than what he actually saw.

Enjoyed that. Three new signings but Ray Grant has made the biggest difference.

Any chance we can keep King? Lovely pass to open up the pitch for the first and a stunning third.

  8. I assumed Mulvanny was McLean, given the Killie link. Either way, he wasn't a striker or winger, maybe a wingback at a push.

McCulloch was just too weak, no upper body at all. Needs to bulk up. Am I right in saying he's the one that's actually contracted for another season?

Jon Craig has pitched up at Broomhill. Genuinely horrific, enjoy.

There's always going to be a demand for left backs and Swift saw the best of him last season. For all the criticism Duffy takes, Craig would have benefitted from him staying on.

I daresay he'll reappear in the SPFL at some point.

What is that utter shite Dean was saying about no booking for Joelinton because he didn't stop a promising attack?

He hauled Szoboslai back by the shirt, from behind with absolutely no pretence of playing the ball. It's a yellow for that every day of the week.

Sky commentary seems to be getting more agenda driven by the day. We had Nevile earlier in the half saying VAR should take as long as it wants because we must get these massive calls right....

    f**k off.

“I said to Anthony afterwards: ‘I just didn’t want to send you to the screen after what has gone on in the game’.

"I didn’t want to send him up because he is a mate as well as a referee and I think I didn’t want to send him up because I didn’t want any more grief than he already had.

  11. Another team turns up at our "home", does nothing really but graft hard, and gets a two goal lead. That is no slight on Stenny who are having a great season and are a really well balanced side. I thought they were much better at Ochilview than today.

Leighfield had nothing to do yet still managed to stink the place out by almost getting tackled.

Dunachie was desperate to ship a goal all game; getting tackled on the bye line first half, awful pass intercepted first half, then a dreadful clearance which led to the second goal. Him and Grant picked the wrong game to have a nightmare with two centre halves in for next week.

Lyon has my sympathy as he definitely tries hard but the fact he's been subbed the last two games to put Dunachie at wingback speaks volumes.

I thought Stevenson did okay. Cuddihy has to be played further forward, or on the right. Ray Grant was good when he came on.

The manager needs to take a bit of stick though his tenure really starts tonight. He'd obviously instructed them to punt the ball up towards Jamieson and Buchanan, which is madness.

Today aside, I make it 4 league wins in the calendar year 2023 (and 2 of those were end of season dead rubbers). No wonder we are fucked.

I posted somewhere on here that, outside of the early years where we didn't play as many games, our worst ever was 5 (which we managed last season, not for the first time).

Well done to Jim Duffy and the people who appointed him.

Would be interesting to know if any of the players getting shunted out know yet ? Otherwise there could be a major”down tools” from them….

You'd imagine Craig, McCulloch and Mulvanny all missing out last week might suggest something, and the two already gone?

Hello again all, sorry to come on here again having poached another player from you but Jason Leitch has signed for Clyde. Is he up to scratch for our current level? I’ve heard of him but can’t say I know too much about him.

Were you asleep during the entirety of covid?

  15. Howie was a good player at L1 level but was shunted all over the pitch to accommodate duds like Rumsby. Hopefully he is played at centre half.

You would imagine we are sticking with three at the back given the volume of centre halves we now have. I'll feel much better about life when a goalkeeper and left wingback arrive.

  16. There's an obvious but gradual improvement in our performances under McCall and that's seeing our weaknesses exposed even more. That said, you also see a few players stepping up their game. Definitely going to be an interesting few weeks when January begins.

Cuddihy was a surprising return and he had a decent game before tiring. Young had his best game since his debut and took his goal well. Prior to scoring the penalty (which looked clearcut?) Rennie had four clear chances to score (one being a rebound from his own effort) and usually you'd back him to be fair. Leighfield actually did a decent job second half.

Imagine if McLean had played Dunachie as a wingback for a full half? I don't think it worked at all but delighted he got the goal.

Dumbarton strike me as the sort of side that can play exceptionally well with everyone fit, but there's a greater than normal drop off when a few injuries hit. I didn't think they were very good today at all, Gray excepted.
