  1. Completely agree, Stirling Albion asked for reduced prices, probably similar to the £13 they charged against Ayr on Saturday. Been to loads of other grounds for League Cup ties and the entrance fee was reduced from there normal prices.
  2. I am assuming it is Jones who has been really poor in the games I have seen him in.
  3. Don't expect much from preseason friendlies but agree with Liam, the lack of tempo against a team two league below us was disappointing. Sure it will be different for the competitive games. We are crying out for at least one new striker and hopefully will see a loan signing soon.. The number 9 and 11 are nowhere near good enough for League 1.
  4. A decent enough preseason game. Thought Andy Graham and Stevie Hetherington wee our best two players. Andy's reading of the game is still outstanding. Of the new guys Morgan Neill looked a good strong player and chipped in with a goal. Agree with Rory, Rankin was good when he came on and caused the Morton defence problems. Still think we need another striking option but hopefully that will. Be covered by the loans.
  5. I hope we are only offering him training facilities, definitely not good enough to get a third season with us
  6. Hopefully we can start the run again now bang average Church has gone.
  7. Have to say happy with the first three signings. If we are signing only players that have played for the Wasps previously can we have O'Hara, Henderson and Zanetta next.
  8. A decent signing. Was a good player for us first time around and should hopefully allow Scougall and Kev to be more creative.
  9. Of the four strikers we had at the end of last season, he is probably the last one I would have resigned.
  10. Sounds like a player, out of interest why the Mex?
  11. He was absolutely terrible, quite well thought of when coming through as a youngster at Rangers. One of my brothers friends who is a St Johnstone fan used to come along to our games just for the McAusland comedy factor.
  12. That would have been pushing it, like trying to claim that Kyle McAusland was the best right back we ever had..
  13. Bit before my time or I probably would have. I don't hate Daniel Church, felt sorry for him when playing under Ferguson and thought he was better last season. Enjoyed his goal against Kelty away and he did have a decent delivery. Just trying to add a bit of balance to a discussion on a player IMO, is bang average.
  14. Church did improve from his first season and had a good cross on him. In addition to Waters and Meggat, for me Ross, Seaton, Crane, Dick, Lee, Haddow, McHattie, Docherty all much better left backs. Along with Durnan, no big loss IMO.
  15. 34 games, 1 goal and 1 assist, I can see why. Hopefully the Daily Record is as accurate as ever.
  16. I thought Rodden did well when he came off the bench at the start of the season, especially in the Kelty game with his double to win us it. He will have my full support, but still think we need better options up front than last season. If MacIver resigns then we will be looking at the same front four. I would rather gamble and go for someone different, whether that is an experienced forward like Kevin O'Hara, a young player released from an SPL club, something Paul Hartley did very effectively, or a loan striker.
  17. Must admit wouldn't have given Rodden a new contract, think we need enhanced striking options from last season, not the same four.
  18. That is brilliant news, well done to the club and Brian Rice for getting key players signed up early.
  19. Positive on the resigning front, as Dink says add Taggart and that is a high quality start to the 2023/24 squad.
  20. Agree that is a disappointment and a bit of a surprise. I thought Hogarth did okay on loan last season, considering he is only 19. My preference would be next season to probably have a more experienced number one. Loved Neil Parry but not sure if he is the keeper he was.
  21. I actually forgot about Rodden. Probably make that two from four then. MacIver's link up play is decent although not as good as LD. Also thought he was much more effective when he was on loan and had Henderson up front with him. He has great energy but doesn't score enough goals for me. IMO if we have the same four strikers next season we will struggle to get into the top four. Sure there will be potential upgrades out there.
  22. For me the two main players I want signed up are Kev and Taggart, two of the best players in the league, especially when played in their best positions. If Jamieson signs should be a decent signing and then it is just a case of getting a second keeper. As Brian said we will probably need a whole new defence. Andy Graham is the best defender I have seen at Alloa but agree his legs have gone, hopefully should get a coaching role at the club. As for the rest of the defence I would resign Taggart and Stanger, if he doesn't get a full time offer. If Motherwell release Devine he might be worth looking at, although he was out injured for quite a while. Whilst I agree Church has been better this season, over the years we have had much better left backs, so if he leaves not bothered. Same with Durnan, never been his biggest fan and whilst he did okay when he came in last season, would free up a wage. Of the midfield like Andy, Jon Robertson has been a great player for us but last season slowed things down too much, would probably free along with Adam King. Coulson is definitely worth another season and will hopefully kick on next season. If Scougall and Cammy are resigned already then that is a decent start. Up front I would only resign one or two out of the three as think we need to free up wages for a different type of striker. Probably be Connor given his goals total this season, and LD for me, although his fitness is a bit of a worry. MacIver of the three would be the one I would free. Apart from Cammy and Coulson of the youngsters not seen anything from any of them to think they are going to push for more game time next season.
  23. Never thought when I started supporting Alloa, that one day we would be debating which goal in our two Ibrox draws in one season was the best. Having watched the second Buchanan goal again it was definitely the better of the two, but enjoyed the first one more because I think it was so unexpected after going a goal down. Docherty and McCord were absolutely brilliant that night in midfield, and by the time we got to the second game was almost expecting us to get something. Add to that the inclusion of a cult player who once cost £5m and the confidence levels for that game were higher than they should have been for a game against an old firm team. One of my favourite ever Alloa teams alongside those in the Tom Hendrie and Terry Christie era.
  24. My favourite Alloa goal of all time, we played brilliantly that day and then Lee McCulloch scored a late goal and looked like we were going to lose until Buchs goal sparked bedlam among the away fans, ended up just about in among the Rangers support.
