  1. Oh, ya beauty. That's good that. f**k sake, we're fast on the paper this close-season. Kevin Thacker spotted outside Broadwood shouting: "Release barabbas!".
  2. Happy enough with those released. Currie had a poor season and without an obvious excuse. Stewart, albeit our best left-back in my opinion, has been injury prone and doesn't have the engine Lennon's looking for on that side; he's not the mirror image of Cuddihy, in other words. Dissapointed we didn't give Cogill and Boyle deals. Having said that, there is a glut of quality in the squad, and I've been the very one saying we've an excess of centre-backs and midfielders. Someone had to go, and those two don't have the record that their competition do (e.g. Rumbsy, Lang; Syvertsen, Lamont, Banks). Those two could be picked up by other clubs and do really well, IMO.
  3. I am the Morton. Now congratulate me again, bitch.
  4. Not rated by Morton but had a decent record in part-time football. Remember what Lennon done with the likes of Wardlaw, sure. Personally, I'm pleased that we're looking for a bit of muscle and experience to partner Goodie. With a strong midfield behind, we could score a lot of goals that way.
  5. Re the bold. It's either that or lose him, aye. As for "shown virtually nothing", no. I don't think that's true. He's shown that he's got a great touch, is a good dribbler, can beat a player and can score a goal or two.
  6. Agree with all the above re Boyle and Cogill. There's massive potential there, we need to get those lads games. Cogill's aggressive, a good size and obviously has a decent football education behind him. Boyle's one of those players who your team needs built to accomodate: nippy, good touch, clever, jinky; will get pushed about though. It's the Brian Gilmour situation, to me. Deployed right, he's a smashing player. Stuck out on a wing without support or up against a stronger player and he's muted.
  7. Centre-half - more like a sweeper - who's decent with the ball at his feet, athletic and good at reading the game. That is, for league two at least. Should more than hold his own in League 1. If he's coming to Falkirk for full-time football, I don't think any of us would grudge him that. You probably want to play him alongside a lankier centre-half. He's not short - must be six foot or better - but if you're playing against a target player that's perhaps his only vulnerability.
  8. Bar set high if Forfar have him in their team. That's a decent swap-out for Easton.
  9. It occured to me this morning that in the course of this season we lost a lot of legends - I'm thinking both about lifelong, loyal supporters as well as former players and managers. While it's a sad thing that they weren't here to see us return to success after such a prolonged drout, it's great that we saw it through in the way we did, particularly for their families whose connection with Clyde is a vicarious connection with them.
  10. There are degrees of contact; some penalty worthy, some not. Throwing a forward to the floor Life of Brian style falls in the penalty worthy category. If they ever reshoot that movie, Swinglehurst is a shoe-in for Cleese's part in the Pontius Pilate scene. Stwike him Stevie, wery woughly.
  11. Heh, that's true. I'll give you that. But we want to make headway improving Boyle and Svyerston before bringing in competition, IMO.
  12. I've heard some chatter about Johnston coming to us, too. I don't think he's better than what we have and I'd rather see Boyle, Syverston, Lamont or a returning Banks given a jersey before a new lad. His goal scoring record isn't great and, while I understand he's assisted a few with Annan this season, it wouldn't strike me as an ambitious signing if we went ahead with it.
  13. I start from the position that any League 1 team with David Goodwillie likely to be leading their line has to aspire to as much. If we keep our core, sign a big partner for Goodwillie, get a forward-thinking left-back and maybe find an enduring Kevin Nicoll replacement... We've got to be thinking play-offs.
  14. Oh, and hats off to Lennon for the team today. Picked to perfection. Cuddihy back in, using Banks' exceptional speed and skill from the off, resting Nicoll. All a recipe for good possession and for goals, which we eventually got two of against the stuffiest mob about.
  15. Annan set up sensibly, acknowledging their limitations, with a mind to frustrate Clyde and run down the clock from the very off. Over the piece, on the big pitch, fitness and quality told however. Annan simply don't have players like Scott Banks, Chris McStay, David Goodwillie and Tom Lang to name but a few. Complaints about the penalty are an understandable manifestation of dissapointment. However, Peter Murphy would do well to remember that had Svyertson been as tactically minded as Annan's players were, and elected to fall instead of cutting-back the ball after drawing a foul from Annan's right-back in the first half, we'd have had a penalty anyway. The match highlights will put that beyond dispute. We showed great character to finally level the aggregate score. And while it took us around ten minutes to get our bearings after that, it was clear Annan didn't have a Plan B. And I expect we'd have bagged another - probably via Banks directly or as an outlet - even if we hadn't been awarded a penalty, such was the direction of traffic. Nigh-on twenty years later, we're winning promotion again. WATFBW.
  16. We're going to need David Goodwillie to play a blinder tomorrow. Won't happen otherwise.
  17. Was intentional self-destruct hyperbole. Would definitely get Nicoll to buggery, in all seriousness. He won't have the legs in any case.
  18. I'd get Currie to f**k for Saturday, too. Been a nightmare: sold the Peterhead game (3-3). Given us the gitters all season and all behind the tightest, comfiest defence we've had for... As long we can collectively remember.
  19. Actual footage of David W telling Sao Paulo bringing Nicoll in should free up McStay:
  20. What in f**k's name was it about getting beat off of Cowdenbeath that inspired us to field Nicoll in place of Lamont? And what was it about beating Edinburgh over two legs that drove us to think: that team needs changed(!?).
  21. It's precisely because Nicoll's been off the park that McStay's been freed up; the lease of life he's had this season owes to it. Bringing Nicoll in was fucking stupid.
  22. Bit of muscle to play beside Goodwillie, and the same plus some legs to swap-out for Nicoll and allow us to play four across the middle. At that rate, we'd have the same success ingredients as have served Edinburgh as well as they have. Difference is, we'd then be fully unleashing a better player in the form of Goodwillie, for example; Edinburgh don't have that quality. Fancy we could make the run-in interesting if we made those signings. Otherwise, we'll falter but secure a play-off nonetheless.
  23. He's aw that articulatit and eloquated wie that I'm ur, int he?
