Thing is we can't offer extended terms yet to players to try and keep and get a fee in the future as they won't consider anything until they know who is going to be manager.

Apparently a lot of the players are happier now as it was unsettling and most of them either knew or had an idea he was leaving.

Was speaking to board member and he says it was around 4-5 weeks ago they (Ayr) think that real conversations took place but he (McCall) had to wait for the inevitable to happen going by his attitude towards the board from around that time.

Just reading through some of the stuff on the Partick Thistle thread and it makes me think wtf has McCall done going their from one of the safest jobs in Scottish football right now. Seems like he manipulated it so made his bed etc, etc. Cant' help but think this will come back to bite him in the arse though.

I think adding 500 on average over next 2 or 3 years playing at our current level isn't beyond the realms of reason but who knows.

Too much damage been done over the last 10 years or so to expect lapsed fans to come back so soon. Probably need another 2 or 3 years playing at this level to expect numbers to go significantly higher. I think the only way we'd see a jump in home support is "if" we got promoted however unlikely that is.

All of Shanklands attributes have been well discussed by Ayr fans over the last couple of seasons but your right to point out his positional sense and hard work. His finishing is also excellent and he can make chances out of nothing. Although no slouch if he had that extra yard of pace he would be top end Scottish premiership striker no problem and maybe even higher.

Watched the game last night. Pretty poor stuff. Thistle look hard to beat and worked hard for most of the game. United seem to have the mentality of a team who expect to win and tbf they did but may get stuck against better teams . Shankland doesn't look 100% but still managed to score one (2 really as Pawlett just helped it over the line). Could be a long hard season for Thistle and they'll need to find a striker soon as the boy they had up front offered nothing. Early days of course.

I’m happy to agree that the ref made a couple of errors but not in the case of the red card as he was influenced by the linesman who told him something that merited a red card. Don’t think the ref was the worst I’ve seen and not the best either.

So you’re saying a referee couldn’t be influenced by players constantly having a go at him. Bollocks. For the record it was the linesman that influenced the referee and my original post was tongue in cheek.

That was my point though. Wasn’t a red card but referees are human and players having a go all match must have an influence on decisions. I’m not saying that’s what happened here though.

Maybe the ref got fed up with the Falkirk players whining and bitchin about nearly every decision that went against them he finally got pissed off and upgraded Durnan to a red just to shut them up?

I'm going with this. Us Ayr fans are a very pessimistic lot and quick to jump to conclusions. We don't know the budget and we don't know for sure who the player targets are. Think all the negativity stems from us being in the football wilderness for so long and we are all expecting it to go pear shaped. Goes without saying McCall will have a plan in place and we will just have to wait and see. Hopefully another good season to come.
