  1. There is no right or wrong way. Billy Stark was as calm and measured as they come, whereas Gus MacPherson is more animated and outwardly passionate about what he’s seeing in front of him. Both have been fantastic for Queen’s Park Football Club and that’s all that really matters to me on that front.
  2. We’ve just knocked a Championship team out of a cup, after drawing with a Premier League side and a couple of other good showings against teams in higher leagues. Our first League game also ended with a good result at what is probably the hardest ground to get a result at in the league. Incredible that the instinct would be to have a dig at the manager. He literally cannot win among a section of the support, regardless of results. I said during the close season that this season was a win-win for some of these folk. We either win and they’re happy or they either get to vent at the manager if things don’t go well. It was naive of me not to expect this to start even when things were going ok.
  3. That’s a real shame. Not only a class player, but seems a top man as well.
  4. Glasgow MPs team up to demand Hampden remains national stadium amid rival Murrayfield bid The cross-party group of MPs have written to the SFA, warning them that a move to the capital would be “devastating”. BY DAVID CLEGG 04:30, 6 AUG 2018UPDATED19:57, 5 AUG 2018 Glasgow’s seven MPs have teamed up to demand Hampden Park remains the home of Scottish football. The six SNP and one Labour members have signed a letter to SFA chief Ian Maxwell, warning that moving the national stadium to Murrayfield would be “devastating”. SFA bosses are weighing up a potential move away from Hampden when its lease expires in 2020, amid complaints about transport links and facilities at the historic venue. Scottish Rugby believe Murrayfield should become the new home of Scottish football and have launched a charm offensive to win over the blazers. But a deal to stay is also on the table after Queen’s Park, who formally own Hampden, agreed to sell the 52,000 capacity stadium to the SFA. A crunch meeting between the two sides is understood to be taking place today ahead of a final decision being made later this month. Glasgow South MP Stewart McDonald, whose constituency includes Hampden, organised the joint letter to ramp up pressure on the SFA. The letter claims a move to Murrayfield would create several “unknowns”, including the cost, the impact on Glasgow and the implications of policing Old Firm matches in Edinburgh. The MPs also pointed out the move could potentially have a damaging impact on Queen’s Park. They said: “To lose Hampden as Scotland’s national stadium, and thus threaten the future of Queen’s Park – an enormous part of our heritage – would be devastating.” The cross-party group of MPs said they would stand together to fight for Hampden to remain the home of Scottish football. They said: “We do not believe that moving to Murrayfield is a suitable option. “A move to Murrayfield not only opens up a world of unknowns for Scottish football and threatens the vibrancy of communities surrounding Hampden, but also creates an uneven playing field for the distribution of the most popular sports in Scotland. “Glasgow has been home to world-class sporting events over many decades, at which Hampden has been a major part and enjoyed by many tens of thousands of people. “To end that historic title as being the home of Scottish football would be a major blow to Glasgow’s reputation as a world-class sporting city. “We ask the association to ensure Hampden Park remains as Scotland’s national stadium, with a deal that benefits all parties involved and has the determination and ambition to better our city’s sporting reputation even more.”
  5. You’d think a guy like Mark Millar would help the club out if it came to the crunch. Loose change for him to help his hometown club.
  6. Not sure we do give loan players preference. The likes of Zanatta and Keena played because they were better than what we had. Orsi, McIlduff and Gullan all struggled for game time, though.
  7. Very decent again. Was clear that Killie were a step up from St Mirren and they controlled the game. We defended brilliantly and the work ethic from every player was 10/10. Big Gerry was absolutely outstanding at the back.
  8. Him and Stephen O'Brien would be the Dream Team. Who can forget the dream team of 2000? The “O” Brothers. Halcyon days.
  9. We’re just a Stephen O’Donnell level player away from being contenders.
  10. Says a lot about the character of Mortimer that he was struggling to get around the pitch at the end and still put himself forward to dispatch a penalty. A night of no negatives in terms of performance and application from everyone.
  11. By the way, what about the move in the run up to McKernon’s dig and great save from Samson? Really zipped it around well.
  12. Magnificent from start to finish. We’ve a team peppered with guys who were playing junior/non league last season, along with guys who didn’t play a lot of football and some of the relegated squad. None of them could have given more. Given the status of both teams, chances created and desire to win the game, I don’t think a single Saints fan could have felt robbed if we’d won that game. Could mention any player in terms of positives. The whole back four and Hart were solid, but Gav Lachlan was superb at right back, which isn’t even his natural position. In terms of the season, the League Cup doesn’t mean an awful lot but that’s hopefully given us some belief to move forward with. Well done, QP.
  13. Going by this thread, the Clyde fans just can’t get enough of the famous QPFC. You can tell just how much we’ve been dominating their thoughts over the past two seasons. Don’t worry, lads. We’re back and, as agonising as the wait will be, you’ll get to play us very soon.
  14. Excellent. If we could have the Challenge Cup back to a normal competition for lower league teams to try and win, that'd be just grand.
  15. St Mirren fans will be down in the normal away section, tomorrow. Hope the stewarding is better than it was at the Dunfermline game, which was an absolute free for all in terms of segregation.
  16. What’s the story with the development/reserve leagues this year? Some sort of restructure or am I imagining reading that?
  17. Another thing I noticed on Saturday, McKernon had a right go at McLauchlan in the first half, which I see as a positive. Someone stepping up and demanding more on the field. We saw little of that last season.
  18. Gibby was good, but thought McGrory was excellent as well and would have been my MOTM. Osadolor looks like he could cause problems with his pace and could be a really useful out ball, Roberts looks like he can produce, and Hart looks solid. I expect a huge onus on keeping shape on Tuesday night.
  19. Just the four rape/race hate apologists swarming this thread, today. There would be no need for me to comment, otherwise.
  20. Decent enough today. Knocked it around nicely and an absolute belter of a winner. A few wee ropey moments at the back, but pleasing enough. Next two games will be massive challenges. In terms of our future, there’s not a single QP fan who values the opinion of fans of a club that harbours racists and rapists, so not really worth wasting the data on your phone by contributing.
  21. Would rather we played in a five-a-side league than sign a rapist tbh.
  22. You’ve just pulled the 10million out of your arse for some unknown reason. Nobody at the club wants millions upon millions. A decent deal for Queen’s Park is a reasonable amount to keep afloat over a transition period and somewhere to play. £2million for a piece of land worth significantly more, and Queen’s Park having nowhere to play does not offer that. Would anyone in Scottish football see Queen’s Park selling Hampden on the cheap and having some money to tide over, being allowed to play at Lesser Hampden, and keeping a social club on site, as a bad deal? It’s not even necessarily the absolute Tam from Still Game offer that actually bothers me most, it’s the apparent reluctance to move on Lesser Hampden. If the club is forced to move outside of the Southside of Glasgow, it’s a slow death. If it’s saddled with the debt, it’s a significantly quicker one. The deal done on Hampden was totally short sighted and we dug a hole for ourselves, everyone knows and accepts this. I think every realistic fan probably realises that the way the club is run will have to change, regardless of what happens. We cannot be an anomaly forever. However, as much as you do disagree, the offers, deadline threats and general attitude of the SFA have amounted to little less than blackmail of a member club. Take the peanuts, somehow find yourselves a home with those peanuts, or die.
  23. Housing developers would pay more. Substantially more, actually. For example, St Mirren Park, on a much smaller footprint, was sold for £15million. Nobody realistic would ask for anything approaching market value, but would expect a fair deal. A deal which involves the SFA taking over Hampden and Queen’s Park playing at Lesser Hampden with some financial security should be eminently achievable and reasonable. A national association is in the process of potentially bullying and blackmailing a member club out of existence for its own financial gain. Folk can paint it any way they want, but that’s what’s happening here.
  24. Is it blackmail when the national association offers substantially under market value, knowing that the future of the club is at stake? Yes, it is. Does Scottish football owe any club anything? No. Is it right and proper that Queen’s Park, or indeed any other organisation, is given a fair deal for a valuable asset? Yes, it is. Now, f**k off.
