  1. You can only hope this has acted like a dog whistle to all his suitors and those who have him on watch lists @'WellDel

Just another example of us feeling lowballed because of who we are.

It still seems surprising that none of the city clubs feel 500k plus £10k a week is worth 30 goals. This offer kinda makes Ketts "nobody in this league could afford him" shout all hot air.

We should throw Max's agent 50k to act as his hype man and see where we are in a week.

  2. The tickets ahead of last year with no Europe and a £40 hike is remarkable. Numbers in the past should be tempered that a swathe of our numbers were kids on Wellevate who got their tickets for free (now a nominal fee).

I was advocating for Carroll's return 18 months ago because we were chronic/sticky plastering the left back, but he was all at sea before his latest injury. Not a loss, if we can get McGinley a new club too, my week is made.

@YassinMoutaouakil you're definitely more glass half full. My defining memory from both is Carroll conceding a penalty that never was against Ross County but regardless he was still skinned. With McGinley it was getting his arse handed to him at Tannadice then making a rugby tackle because he had no other ideas/ability.

If I was the rep of any of the guys we're looking to hold on to, Casey, Goss, etc. I'd be telling my guy to hold off till the KvV deal goes through as you'd have much better bargaining power after it than today.

OK, but the champions of Latvia or Albania will also play more matches than most small Scottish clubs in the next few years, and it doesn't mean they're better or bigger clubs.

16k stadium, average attendance 9.5k, Austria GDP 480Bn which is 2.3x our estimated, 9m population to 5.5m. I'd say the additional makes ad and TV revenues higher and therefore commercial income are way in excess of here. But yeah we can use the champions of Malta or Gibraltar as a no context comparison.

So in short, yeah a step up.

His agent is the hardest working in World Football so I doubt he'll end up there.

  4. For me with Cornelius it just feels like the perfect adage of "familiarity breeds contempt" but from three groups.

With the fans he was always around in the past 3/4 seasons, fan as a boy, however never seeming to make the position his own. Can't fault his endeavour just execution at times which not enough give leeway due to his age, development and stop/start nature of his involvement.

WIth the club/management maybe it was felt as a youth being promoted he is an extra body at the cheaper end of the scale than someone brought in from outside. Maybe his connection would tie him for longer, certainly didn't when McKinstry got the chance to move to Leeds initially.

Finally from his point of view, he probably feels he just needs to spread his wings and not be taken for granted. New challenge, new environment, fresh line drawn in the sand. It seems others out there rate him higher than many of us have. Can't help but feel in the demise of the previous regime he was being sidelined at the preference of other players who offered little more if any and certainly without his desire to get a result which for me was an oversight. But there was plenty of them at the time.

I wish him all the best and hopes he pushes on, I don't think that was going to happen here. Maybe he would have altered his thinking if Hammy wasn't appointed last August. But if that was the case there'd be a case for us not putting Johnson out on loan and securing an extension. Sliding doors stuff however.

"How do we encourage greater participation?"

I'd suggest not dismissing 180 fans, because you think that's "quite low" would be a half decent place to start.

Everything I hear about that board just makes me shake my head. A glorified bowling club committee who are only in it for the blazer and free perks (my apologies to the younger lads on the Board who do try, but may as well bang their head off the wall).

They are right though 180 adults is about a 7-8% sampling of the membership.

Probably a legacy of a few things:

    A) many may feel their fingers were burned by VAR  thing at the 11th hour.

    B) perception of bowling club committee as you cite, there are members trying to freshen things up but can’t help but feel they are stimied by the old men.

    C) How they communicated how to participate in the survey. That’s very much on them. A good deal of an older demographic don’t use social media or have email.

    D) general human apathy, a WS meeting at FP 10 years ago attracted many multiples of who attended the last AGM.

As for suggestions I’m sure “the thread” will be visited by them so it will save me emailing direct. What’s up with creating WhatsApp groups where nobody can reply to stop the moon howlers. But the admin (WS) can post calls to action or updates. Most people have a phone.

Maybe limit it to 10 groups of approx 400 for ease of admin (a copy and paste 10x takes less than a minute) and do it by age plus an expats group so it’s maybe targeted.

    Good morning,

Thanks to everyone who responded on the recent proposal put forward by the Pyramid Working Group to create a new Conference League at tier 5 within the Scottish football pyramid.

We received a wide range of views, with the majority of members who provided input being against the proposal. The club decided not to make any statement in advance of the planned discussion at the Scottish FA AGM but, as you will be aware, the resolution was removed from the agenda by the Scottish FA Board. We expect an amended proposal to be shared with clubs in the future and we will review at the details again at that time.

Fan input is welcomed, and we'd like to encourage more of it, as the numbers responding with views was relatively low compared to our adult membership. We received nearly 180 replies from an adult membership of approx 2800. How do we encourage greater participation? Email us your ideas.

In the meantime, thank you for taking the time out to share your views with us and, in turn, with the club and other stakeholders.

    Kind regards,

    The Well Society Board

  7. When you think of it we've signed/loaned in some amount of players never to see much or any of them (injuries aside). Surely nobody in the SPFL can beat us? I get a few of them were punts but off the top of my head:

    Kasper Sloth

    Josh Morris

    Mich'el Parker

    Darragh O'Connor

    Olly Cranckshaw

    Harry Smith

There was another guy I think we signed one January maybe 3/4 windows ago and he never showed up, can't remember his name

Which bears any relevance to my post how?

A media (term used loosely) organisation backtracking on an editorial decision to appease foaming mouthed OF fans, that work for you?

I mean to post it for some short term warm and fuzzy feeling of one upmanship while ignoring the irony of it or even citing your 10 year pout with a degree of self awareness.

As for the BBC thing, everyone else in Scottish football knows that was a cuckolded statement to appease the masses, nobody other than you think they actually meant it. It was all about getting back into Ibrox and not having Thommo saying "after the game, Steven Gerrard said ........." in perpetuity.

  9. If there was anything to keep you away from Super Scoreboard then this is it.

First refusal will depend on St. Brendan’s ego and where he thinks his stock price is at present in England. Probably thinks he can walk into Leeds or similar.

If it’s a no then probably someone off most radars. Which will make the red tops and phone in chronic until it happens.
