  1. I'd say there's definitely a split. There's a number of people (I'm not sure how significant) who fell in love with the club at a young age and came to realise over time that an element of the support is hideous, but grew up with the "you can't change your club" mantra. "Sevco" is a get out clause of sorts for several people I know...
  2. I'm actually considering taking in the pre-season friendly between Raith and Ross County next week thanks to Mr. Hutton. Wrong part of Fife, but I'm sure Kirkcaldy can't be as bad as it's made out to be.
  3. As Rob McLean was 'revealing' news on last weekend's Sportsound I found myself exclaiming "why are you spending time telling us things we knew 4 hours ago?!". Social media really has changed the game...
  4. I made the decision last week to avoid the SPL for the foreseeable future. My season book money has just gone to Edinburgh Rugby Having moved house recently, I think I'll find an SFL/Junior team in Fife to adopt if any are accepting refugees.
  5. How about 1 year transfer ban and a 100 point head start to ensure promotion to the SPL in time for 13/14?
  6. alex thomson @alextomo Scottish Football: the spectre of management and governance utterly terrified of delivering what their customers demand - D3 for "Rangers". And a business that wilfully ignores its customer base will find painfully soon that it has no business left at all.
  7. In the future, I expect all player contracts to be devised with the same get out clause... that would look really good for the league's integrity.
  8. It's all a bit of a non-story really. Findlay in "emotional attachment to Rangers" shocker. However, it would be nice to see the rules updated to prevent any shareholdings in competing clubs in the future.
  9. How do we go about putting Hutton in charge of the SFA? Nice to see him continue to speak out against this shambles this morning. I presume that if the SFA don't bring him up on a disrepute charge after he used the word "corrupt", they implicitly agree... Edit: Spelling
  10. Surely the SPL would have been smarter arranging a two year rolling contract (i.e., the required notice period for a club to leave), upto the maximum time of five years. Mind you, if it's true that the contract hasn't yet been signed then it's all immaterial. Has anyone seen a figure suggested for what a Rangers-less SPL would be worth to TV? Some of that 17.35 million would be recouped.
  11. To me, it reads like the contents of somebody's crappy powerpoint presentation, rather than any kind of official document. No facts and figures on display. I notice also that the words "fan backlash" don't appear anywhere as a negative point on any of the SPL's preferred options. As I noted yesterday, SPL 2 is just the boogeyman in its football form. No club would be stupid enough to sign up to it given the potential implications (i.e., no fans). Indeed, I think it's been blown out of all proportion - we're still sitting in the same place we were two days ago, waiting to see if Green actually lodges an acceptable application to the SFL today. I've no doubt he'll submit one, but I'm pretty convinced he's hoping for a rejection so he can finish stripping the assets.
  12. SPL 2 is an empty-threat and all stakeholders should see it for that. Any club agreeing to join an SPL 2 would be signing its own death warrant as the fans would almost certainly revolt. At that stage the only other option for Doncaster and co would be to expand the SPL and that would be signing the SPL's death warrant also.
  13. Great point. I'm absolutely disgusted by today's events. No matter what the outcome of this - Rangers in, Rangers out - it's clear that the system needs radical change. There needs to be a concerted effort to flush out these shady characters and get fan representation introduced at every level of governance - from clubs all the way to the corridors of the SFA.
  14. I saw that yesterday. The words "SFA" and "legal action" in the same sentence should have made everybody realise immediately that the rumours were unfounded.
  15. So true, there's something extremely fishy about the Brown stuff that I can't quite put my finger on. The bidders didn't make their millions by making stupid business decision, so why pick John Brown to address the masses? (as much as I liked him as a player, he's surely no spokesman). This seems like another act of misdirection. I'm half expecting the Daleks to be revealed at the end of the story as the master villain pulling everybody's strings.
  16. Third division will be full (unless someone else goes bust next year). It'll need to be through the introduction of the pyramid, if at all. I wouldn't be surprised to see several successor clubs spring up, with nobody getting their hands on Ibrox (if there's any truth in today's rumours).
  17. I'm not entirely convinced he intends to submit one, or at least submit one that meets the acceptance criteria. Why would he now happily disclose to the SVA all the information about his "consortium" that he's been secretive of over the past weeks?
  18. You do realise we have to apply to the third? I think there's little chance Rangers will be playing SFL football next season. I'm also beginning to think Green will fold Sevco 5088 (after selling any players who move over), leave someone else to set up a new, new Rangers, and offer to rent/sell Ibrox back to them.
  19. I completely agree with your first point - it's an entirely stupid idea that shouldn't even be entertained. However, the fact that it has been / is being entertained (in so much as the SPL and SFL are canvasing for views of their member clubs, and putting it to votes) isn't Rangers' fault. The SPL and SFL should just have said "no" outright. Rangers are clearly at fault for 1001 things, but the blame for considering the idea of letting them jump the queue lies elsewhere (for a refreshing change).
  20. This seems somewhat fishy, given what we know about members taking the SFA to court. Some form of representation to the SFA seems likely, however.
  21. Painful listening. I hear the faint sound of panic as Daily Record sales threaten to fall dramatically...
