  1. Both teams to score a certainty on Saturday for me. Dont know why but just cant see cowden winning Saturday hope im wrong though. Coves midfield against ours worrys me for this weekend. Fyvie should be head and shoulders above our midfield but I would re-start Archie Thomas in there and get Robbie back to wing back.

Hopefully sneak a 2-1 win. A draw aint a disaster.

  2. The game was rotten. Stirling powder puff up front but overall were slightly better team. When we got chances to break and in good positions we chose wrong options or it broke down due to zero ability on the ball.(frustrating)

Hamilton and Todd close for MOTM for me but im gonna go Todd.

Jordan Allan should have been on 10-15 mins before he was. Our goalkeeper needs to work on his kicking from a standing start with no pressure as well as knock backs from certain angles.

Referee done ok. Harvey swann had a good defensive game tonight...

  3. The game was tragic. The players let the fans and the club down big time. No desire or fight which is something I couldnt normally label at this team which lets face it lacks a lot of technical ability barring 2 maybe 3 players.  Bollan has to take flack for it also but I aim it more at the players after Saturdays showing.

One to forget about but very hard too!!!

Hope the manager can find a couple of fullbacks somewhere. With Fraser being out and no left back, this is not looking good.

Harvey swann is a left back.. Folk saying he aint good defensively are naive.. He actually is getting better and has the best person to coach him.. an ex left back who played at a decent level.

Harvey is always best when coming onto the game not when right back pushed tight too him as no space for him to work and he aint that quick to get away from someone touch tight. Defo a left back.

Back to tried and tested formation with Hamilton back in as a centre/sweeper.. Buchanan right wing back.

We haven't been poor in any of the six games we have won - poor teams don't win games. We haven't always been at our best but that doesn't = poor. If we lose a game/games it's no longer a winning team so the point you make on that isn't really relevant. All the players are making a contribution in their different ways - it's not a case of just picking all the most skilful players and somehow fitting them into your XI. You need strength, blend, power, experience, pace, resilience, leadership and many other attributes to have an effective team.

THIS. For example renton defensively at corners and free kicks against us is a key component of our defensive side (even though a striker) If the squad is fully fit there is loads of options so thats great.

Its a long season and lets face it our first starting x1 WILL change at some point due to injuries/suspensions.. A boy can go out and pull a hammy and he is out 4-6 weeks this is then where a taylor/allan/swann gets their 4-6 week run in team hopefully slipping seamlessly into the tactical set up no bother or a tweak in formation. Wholesale changes are not needed 1 maximum 2 is ok on occassion. However at any level of football continuity is a positive thing. Relationships on the pitch form. E.g Barr/buchanan work well. Archie Thomas and connor smith work well.

  6. Well done the players and management. The team is playing for each other in a way I aint seen in a long time. Sometimes we aint pretty on the eye but who cares. The problems would be play like that and lose 3 or 4 games  it doesnt look great but we have the winning mentality and tactically Bollan sets up really difficult to play against. I dont mean defensive I just mean tactically and certain patterns of play is difficult to compete against.

Barr is a rock and a huge player for us (when is he going to get a MOTM) its bugging me now.

Jordan allan was superb when he came on and if starting on bench would like perhaps an extra 5-10 mins each game for him. Connor smith looked tired on Saturday the effects of full time training and games at this physical level will do him the world of good but he is only 17. Great wee player though.

Clean sheets galore just now which is great. Happy for the club to be competing at the top end. We can dream of mounting a challenge but I think an injury or suspension or 2 in key areas would set us back. Play offs would be a great achievement. We have the team however to keep this excellent run going and see where it takes us.

    mone the cowden.

Luckily for me I don’t make the decisions.

Seriously though, I have no idea of the extra costs of opening the terrace but if there is any real savings I think it could be worth considering.

Especially on days like yesterday, which had been forecast to be horrendous all week. Plan ahead. If it’s horrible get it closed off. There must have been 10 people over there yesterday.

As I said though, still love the terrace ‘When the Sunshines’

You are a big blouse.. get over to terracing next time. Next I will hear you stop playing golf coz of a bit drizzly rain.....

Without getting ahead ahead of ourselves, I believe our starting 11 can compete with the top 2  no problem and proved that up at cove, but our squad depth is what will prevent us from any real  title challenge. I would be delighted with a play off spot. We seem to have a squad with a real togetherness and spirit at the moment.

Hope the injury to big Kev wasn’t too serious, had my doubts pre season, but he has been outstanding so far and made big saves at key moments in games. Between him and smith we have 2 quality loan signings. Especially when you hear Stenny complaining about theirs.

I did say Brandon Luke was a non existent signing to be fair. We can compete but over a season we will still have ups and downs more ups than previous seasons im sure however.

  9. Fantastic team performance on Saturday. Every player was superb and stuck to their jobs really well. The shape of the team and running off the ball (notably thomas and smith were exceptional) My MOTM was Jamie Todd as Smith started to fade (no surprise due to work rate)

Stenny were as expected and are nowhere near as good as their fans had them painted as. We are improving week on week and with Jordan Allan back it give us a great option from bench.

Well done to the team and management things going positively just now and as thought I believe we are a play off team not quite good enough to compete with Cove sadly. Certainly improvements on the team over last year now we have Smith.

Should have been 2 up early on in the betfred encounter before mcguigan bullied Pyper, and then Todd had a howler for an OG. Cox and Allan caused Munro and marsh all sorts of problems that day just couldn’t convert. Will be a different style this time but will imagine Renton will win 90% of his aerial battles against Munro and marsh who are both poor IMO. Hopefully coxy and smith can play off the second balls and create opportunities. Big concern for me will be mcguigan, especially if he plays on Hamilton, think the young lad could struggle with his physical presence. Again after we started well in the earlier game we ended up being ran over in midfield, so hopefully an improvement there aswell.

    1-2

Good point about hamilton he 100% would not cope with Mcguigan. I would play pyper and barr in position where Hamilton was playing.

  11. We will play this awkward kind of formation and set of players which has been working for us to be fair. Mullen likely will play left back/wing back with 3 centre halfs and robbie buchanan on right side pushed on slightly higher. Our strikers will for sure be Cox and Renton of that I am sure. Connor smith will start and him and cox will interchange around Renton.

Midfield will be Miller and archie thomas.

1-1 Draw on saturday. Mcguigan will score for stenny and Cox for cowden.

    Cheers

Keep the team the same as we are doing well.  If things start to go against us then you change the team.

End of story. Allan is a good player and he will get a chance this season.

If thats the case Cox wouldnt start and Im pretty certain bollan will start his son I mean player.

  13. Good to have options I would say. Renton works hard for the team but wont score us a lot of goals. However he is integral to the way we play. Defensively as well as offensively.

Jordan Allan if fit should start for me. However cox is 1st name on team sheet if available under bollan. The lad connor smith looks a real good player for us and will get better. His running power and touch and technique is very good.

The lad hamilton who plays centre of a back 3 is a good football player and can play a bit but defensively is not too great. Reads the game ok but does bring a calmness when in possession so if he can get better defensively will work well for us him in there. Very lightweight however.

Echo the sentiments on another central midfielder. I think Herd got a bad injury (any updates??) so a loan signing for middle of the park would see us have a very healthy squad should we have everyone fit.

We’ve signed Ben Stirling on loan, noticed he played a few games on loan at Cowden. Any good?

bang bang average. Tall lad im sure but wasnt very mobile or technically good. Was a while ago we had him im sure so maybe has progressed since then. If he is same level as when playing with us he wont be great in the championship.

  15. I thought the game was poor Saturday. Midfield didnt retain the ball anywhere near enough. It wasnt a great display and if we had lost 1 nil we would have been saying how poor we were. However we got the win which is a huge lift to players as they can play better. Renton did really well as did Harvey. Craig Barr was a machine and marshalled everything. Thomas had his poorest game yet for us but theres a player in there for sure.

Stirling OFT woeful. If they cant beat us when we dont play well then that to me proves how bad they are. The number 11 was stinking. Mackin missed 2 sitters as well.

Hope the injury to Jordan aint too bad.

The squad is light as its clear Bollan does not wish to use the younger players from the bench which is natural as they are maybe not ready for mens football quite yet... 2 of them are only 16 i think? However Mullen back and Herd back soon adds to the overall squad numbers.
