Yeah, John Hall was the villain too, but we obviously we have two different versions of events. The figure I was quoted at the time was around the £35,000. Whatever the figure paid, Ballantyne put another senior club out the game -despicable bu both Hall and Ballantyne. If Ballantyne and others involved at Airdrieonians had any dignity they would have reformed a new club from scratch and not stolen another clubs identity. When Morton were in trouble and there was a possibility of liquidation, the guys involved discussed buying another club as happened with the Airdrie/Clydebank scenario - there was a massive NO to this ploy, and an agrrement that if we went out of business we would start from scratch. What I will say, in nthe end up, it was probably the best thing that happened to Clydebank as the fans now have total control of their new club, but that still doesn't exonerate Hall & Ballantyne from carrying out such a despicable act. Fo your sake, I hope the Zombies don't try a similar ploy with Airdrie United - you'd maybe change your tune if that was to happen !

Absolute and total bollox re the Bankies scenario. The Clydebank fans had raised the capital to keep the club - John Hall, then owner, sold to Ballantyne for the same amount, £35,000, if I remember correctly, and Clydebank were renamed as Airdrie United. David Low (he of Celtic connections, was floating about at the time, and was one of those who wanted to take Clydebank to Dublin and rename them Dublin City). Much skullduggery along the lines, so let's not try and re-write history a la Rangers style, Jim Ballantyne and his Airdrie cronies killed off Clydebank.

[ Happy Buddie, on 15 June 2012 - 11:55, said: Being pedantic, again, but why should a team called Rangers (cos TTFKAR is deid) be included in the SPL fixture list, when issued. The team which was Rangers no longer exists, therefore logically, can't participate, and no other team with Rangers in their name is a member of the SPL, so the Fixture List must be issued with Team X as the 12th team. Can't believe this, agreeing once again with a buddie You are absolutely correct and something I hadn't thought of. How on earth can a fixture list be produced to include a team that is not in existence ? Obviously the SPL/SFA don't have the bollox to acknowledge that Rangers are dead - total insanity to include the Zombies in a new fixture list. They'll have to stick their heads above the parapet shortly, but no doubt good old Spencie will be on their tails

All it needs is for SFA to put out ta statement saying that as Rangers F.C. has now been liquidated they would consider any application from a Newco company for admission to either the SPL or SFL. Further, any Newco club will obviously be devoid of trophy wins albeit that they remain in the history books under the name of the liquidated club, and that any Newco have absolutely no claim to any trophy wins as it is an entirely separate entity. oops, forgot, no balls .

But Smith & co are too late - Rangers FC is being liquidated. They should have come in earleir, got the CVA through, and taken it from there. They let the club die, and all they are doing is trying to take the place of Green and his Newco. Walter Smith and co, had a chance to save your club and they didn't do it. Who are they trying to kid.? Have they no shame ??

great to hear that fans are rejoicing worldwide. hope the saintees board will say NO along with Aberdeen. although Iin saying that i've now a sneaky feeling that with things moving at a fairly fast pace now, that any newco won't even bother applying for SPL membership and will actually apply for SFL membership. VOTE SPARTANS !
